Oh dear. This is for the wings. They were dry, chewy and though I ordered Cajun, utterly tasteless. For future reference Giorgio's, Cajun means red pepper, not black, and usually people expect hot wings to have hot sauce. This was one of those rare occasions where you walk away thinking "I can't believe I exchanged money for that."
I see others recommended the wings, but they clearly had a different batch than I did or else they have not experienced the heaven that is Wingstop.
I was in Ojai for a wedding and on Sunday afternoon, while lounging around lazily all day, the group of 20 or so of us decided that pizza sounded like a great idea. Â We were deep in a canyon so not only was there nothing around but not even phone reception! Â And of course, nobody felt like driving down the canyon to pick up food. Â I called several places about delivery but none would go that far. Â I finally gave Giorgio's a call and spoke to Robert who was very helpful and nice. Â He agreed to do the delivery for a large order and he was super cooperative with our crazy directions and requests to call us once he left the restaurant so that we could meet him at the gate of the property. Â
We got two orders of wings (delicious!) and 6 pizzas- Veggie, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Supreme Deluxe, Chicken Pesto, Pepperoni, and Pepperoni/Mushroom. Â Everything was really fresh, tasty, and totally hit the spot. Â All 20 of us were really happy with the great service and yummy food and so thankful for the really far delivery!
Best sports bar I have been to by far.  The owner is an extremely nice man with what seems like three lifetimes of experience.  He know true authentic New York pizza, but  if you're only going to try one thing on the menu, I suggest the wings! Holy crap, they are delicious!!!  He has 22 beers on tap, coupled with a wealth of knowledge behind the brew.
The customers that go to this bar are all very nice as well. Â As a matter of fact, almost every person we met in Ojai was good-natured, helpful, and pleasant to talk to. Â I promise that you will have a great time and make some new friends at this lovey spot!
If they make their own sauce as advertised, then they should investigate a new recipe. Who knows? Maybe this is the best pizza in Ojai, but it's not better than the best fresh pizza in the freezer section at your local shop-n-save.
I agree with others, the service is INSANELY nice and good. Just need to shoot for better quality food too. Frankly, service is a harder thing to perfect, so there's still hope for Giorgio's.
Stopped in for dinner this past weekend -- it looked like a nice, home-town kind of place, the antithesis of your typical upscale Ojai 4-star Zagat rated restaurant. Host Robert was gracious and accommodating, as were his wife and daughter. Nice homey vibe, cold beer and unexceptional wine. This was "March Madness" final four weekend and a small but extremely loud and quite obnoxious group of locals made relaxing and conversation all but impossible. They were clearly drunk and, hey, it's a sports bar so what did we expect? Well, we didn't expect a clearly autistic crowd of  misfit athlete wanna-be's screaming at the top of their quivering smoke-filled lungs every, oh, ten seconds or thereabouts. Ugly Americans, typified.
As gracious as Robert and his family were, sadly the food was remarkably unremarkable. Our appetizer sampler  was obviously composed of "freezer-fresh" deep-fried fare -- chalky, cardboard-esque and tasteless, as well as greasy. Antipasto salad was simply "ok", and "Ojai's famous sub" made me yearn for the good old days of Subway -- utterly blandelicious.
Next time I'll eat in Ventura next to the homeless people under the freeway -- they'll be more quiet and the food will at least be interesting.
Was in the area on a fishing trip with 7 friends when we decided to stop in here for some lunch. Â The atmosphere was very comfortable. Â A number of TV's, really friendly staff/owners, etc. Â They have a large selection of food and between the 8 of us, everyone seemed satisfied with their meals.
Review Source:Contrary to the other 4- and 5-star reviews I've read, I can only bring myself to give Giorgio's Pizza & Subs a 2. Â
I'll start with the stars: Â The lady behind the counter was SUPER nice; I'm assuming she was the owner. Â The menu was quite extensive; there were tons of choices. Â The location is cool; right on the main drag into Ojai on our Sunday motorcycle ride.
Now, for the missing stars: Â I ordered a burger with fries; the burger was a frozen tasteless patty on a crumbling bun, covered with ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, onion, tomato and pickles to mask the "meat." Â My husband ordered the meatball sub; nothing to write home about (I tasted it to confirm his opinion). Â The thin-cut fries were the best part of the meal.
After we ate our terrible lunch, we vowed never to stop here again. Â Sorry, Giorgio - we just can't do it.
This place is a nice, small sports bar with great sandwiches. I got the philly cheesesteak and added avocados (i know it sounds weird but avocados are great on just about everything) and it was delicious. The bread was soft yet flaky and was soaked with all those meat juices. You can get a small beer on tap for 25 cents with your sandwich so make sure to take advantage of that.
Overall a great place to grab a quick bite and I would definitely go again when I'm in the area.
Can't believe we waited so long to try giorgio's out! Â Great food! Â Great service! Â Called at 7:30pm to see if we could still come in and eat if we got there at 7:50, owner (Robert) said sure come on in (they close at 8pm). Â While on the phone he asked me my name and as soon as I walked in it was like I had been there many times before. Â He greeted us before we sat down and then his wife came over to say hello. Â We ordered dinner and ended up staying till after 9, never made to feel like we should hurry up. Â I had the hot wings and garlic lemonpepper wings, so glad to finally find wings this tasty on the west coast. Â Can't wait to visit again very soon!!
Review Source:OK - now we have to add the MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL to our list of favorite things about Giorgio's  - best place for Monday Night Football and a halftime raffle to boot - love this place!!! And I have to add the owners are super people too - they do lots for this community that you never know about.
Review Source:1. The beer is awesome
2. The service was fantastic!! The owner is super attentive and helpful. When I couldn't decide on a beer, she brought me two samples for free.
It's a fun place to be if you like sports. There are 8 T.V. screens around the place!!! We had the Seafood Special pizza- it was pretty good and unique.
Five of us trekked out of the Los Padres National Forest and took the 33 downhill into Ojai with pizza on our minds. Â We'd been waiting three days for this meal to remind us there is more than dehydrated meals, top ramen, and clif bars in this world. Â The prices were okay, about the average sit-down pizza place price. Â But the guy working (tall asian guy) was very friendly and patient with us when we took 5 minutes to decide our order. Â
The pizza was, according to them "New York Style Thin Crust" which isn't what we were expecting/wanting (wanted thick, filling crust). Â The pizza was still very good, but not bready enough for my style. Â I liked the homely feeling of the place and that you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. Â Next time I'm in Ojai, I may go by
I found this place one night after a bad day while living in Ventura with a couple of friends/roommates. We decided to go for a drive to put my troubles into perspective. Ojai, to me, has been the nice serene escape from any problems I've had in the past. This night was exceptional as we found Giorgio's and it changed my life. Well, in a way.
It wasn't even my choice to begin with, I don't remember being eagerly hungry but I'm glad we stopped. We came in the the sports bar/restaurant and sat. We were greeted by the owner, Robert, who was more than kind. We decided on pizza, ordered a pepperoni and on a whim, a Seafood special. Now, I'm no pizza specialist nor do I tend to eat seafood in abundance but that seafood special is the best I've ever had. It made my night.
It is really one of the top reasons why I come up from Los Angeles to Ventura Cty. I have even brought my brother from Portland, OR and cousin from Seattle, WA to try this pizza and I know my cousin would at least agree. My brother is impartial but I know he likes it. I couldn't explain the ingredients, but remember a few: Shrimp, Crab, garlic, creamy almost Alfredo like sauce, maybe Tuna(?). I don't want to spoil it for anyone but the pizza is delicious and I am literally surprised to be the first to review it on Yelp. The dough/crust is made fresh and is thin and flaky; New York style they say. Delicious.
Giorgio's is definitely worth more than my word and I can only really speak for their pizza, as I've yet to try anything else. But it has locked it itself as one of my favorite pizzas, top 5 indefinitely.
