We went to OBC for lunch at the recommendation of our hotel, and it was fantastic. They have an incredibly talented chef hiding in the kitchen! We shared a couple of appetizers and a tri-tip panini. First were lovely slices of sausage on toothpicks with red pepper, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomato, & basil. Delicious! Next were little endive lettuce boats filled with a buffalo shredded chicken with little pieces of bacon and jalapeño & Gorgonzola cheese crumbles. Fantastic! The tri-tip panini had Brie cheese, caramelized onions, & a spicy brown mustard, which was great, but the Parmesan tomato balsamic dressing that was on the salad was unbelievable! Unfortunately they don't bottle the dressing, so we couldn't buy some to take home. The 2 wine flights that we shared were nice, but it's the food that stole the show! The only small recommendation that I have is to not sit at a table by the bathroom door. The smell of the cleaning products they use clashes with trying to enjoy the bouquet of the wine tasting. As it was an anniversary weekend for us, they provided us with their yummy Hirsh Rye Dizzel drink of the day on the house-very kind of them!
Review Source:Everything I was looking for, and more.
I just moved to Ojai from San Diego, and you can imagine that as a craft beer lover, I had some worries regarding Ojai's dealings with good beer. Well, my worries were alleviated the moment I walked through the door.
The first half of the floor is a store, lined with wines, liquor, and a larger beer selection than most San Diego stores. Every 22oz IPA/craft beer you could imagine is here.
The back half is a restaurant and bar.
I can't rant enough about how knowledgeable and friendly the staff is. And while it's a fun atmosphere, it's also very classy, as one would expect with connoisseurs of good beer.
I did order food, "just" a basic burger. It was perfect. Large, fresh tomatoes, cooked to my request, and a large portion. Check the menu, as there's much more than just burgers. I'm looking forward to trying the rest. All of it.
I was also visited several times by a wine tasting server, who provided literature and seemed to know her wines as well.
Well played sirs, you have a new regular now.
