We went to OBC for lunch at the recommendation of our hotel, and it was fantastic. They have an incredibly talented chef hiding in the kitchen! We shared a couple of appetizers and a tri-tip panini. First were lovely slices of sausage on toothpicks with red pepper, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomato, & basil. Delicious! Next were little endive lettuce boats filled with a buffalo shredded chicken with little pieces of bacon and jalapeño & Gorgonzola cheese crumbles. Fantastic! The tri-tip panini had Brie cheese, caramelized onions, & a spicy brown mustard, which was great, but the Parmesan tomato balsamic dressing that was on the salad was unbelievable! Unfortunately they don't bottle the dressing, so we couldn't buy some to take home. The 2 wine flights that we shared were nice, but it's the food that stole the show! The only small recommendation that I have is to not sit at a table by the bathroom door. The smell of the cleaning products they use clashes with trying to enjoy the bouquet of the wine tasting. As it was an anniversary weekend for us, they provided us with their yummy Hirsh Rye Dizzel drink of the day on the house-very kind of them!

Everything I was looking for, and more.

I just moved to Ojai from San Diego, and you can imagine that as a craft beer lover, I had some worries regarding Ojai's dealings with good beer. Well, my worries were alleviated the moment I walked through the door.

The first half of the floor is a store, lined with wines, liquor, and a larger beer selection than most San Diego stores. Every 22oz IPA/craft beer you could imagine is here.

The back half is a restaurant and bar.

I can't rant enough about how knowledgeable and friendly the staff is. And while it's a fun atmosphere, it's also very classy, as one would expect with connoisseurs of good beer.

I did order food, "just" a basic burger. It was perfect. Large, fresh tomatoes, cooked to my request, and a large portion. Check the menu, as there's much more than just burgers. I'm looking forward to trying the rest. All of it.

I was also visited several times by a wine tasting server, who provided literature and seemed to know her wines as well.

Well played sirs, you have a new regular now.

My friends and I are here for wine tasting!

    You have 2 options.
First option is to choose 4 from the menu.  Second option is doing local wine tasting.  We pick both.  Local wine is a little dry, but it depends on what kind of flavor you like.  I like local wine, but my friend doesn't.  However, I think it's worth to try local wine since you are already in Ojai.  SUPPOR LOCAL!!!!!

My friend also order burger.  It waits a while for the burger to come.  We were sleepy and hungry after the wine tasting.  Anyways, it was a great time.  Really recommend to come here and chill.

Go for the beer selection, stay for the food. My bf and i headed up to ojai for a little r&r and since he's in to homebrewing and beers, this of course had to be a destination during our visit.  we headed out on a busy friday night. took us a second to get a table to eat, but that was ok because it allowed us to check out all the beer selections in the fridges. once we found a seat we knew what our beverage choice would be - the 20-beer flight. Ya, so we were a little drunk when we left. It allowed us to try all 20 beers on tap at OBC and some new styles and brews we wouldn't normally try. Like who knew we liked XPAs? Now we do. Interesting selections, and the food was damn good. Had the turkey burger which was ginormous and the blackened chicken sandwich. All tasty stuff, and we look forward to our next visit!

Great selection of wine and beer. Food was good and I loved their inexpensive beer flight option. The only downside was getting a servers attention. It is one of the busier restaurants in Ojai, stop by for drinks but think twice about ordering food if you feel famished.

Friendly staff, great selection of beers and really good fries to go with it. Lightly seasoned, not overly salty and great dipping sauces. If you don't like beer, they have wines and liquor to choose from. If you're none of the above, they don't hate, they have other food options and non-alcoholic if you got dragged in by a bunch of friends and don't want to drink or maybe, too hungover from the previous night.

I love this place.  They have a great variety beers and wine.  The food is amazing and the service is outstanding.  Anytime I can get to Ojai this is the first place I think of when I need a something to eat or drink.

This place is like a beer oasis in the middle of a hot, rural farm town. I think the first time I went in, before Yelp times, was for water. The first thing that struck me was the wine selection. Hundreds of bottles take up the first half of the store. Along one wall, fridge after fridge of cold beer. Each fridge has a flag over it announcing the country of origin for what lies inside. The selection is remarkable. Bought a couple of IPAs we had never seen before. At the back of the store is a whisky bar, beer bar, and restaurant. There, you will find their taps. We unfortunately were there after a Sam Adams tap take over. Their beer is gross. Still, we lucked out with some IPAs and some lighter stuff. 10 tasters for 20 bucks isn't bad. It was only about 11 and since we skipped breakfast, we ordered food. 50/50 burger of half Italian sausage and half beef. Fries came with a choice of blackened seasoning. Burger was ok. The sausage kind of takes of all the taste. Fries were soggy and next time we'll hold the seasoning. Definitely will be back to try more of the menu next time we're in town. And more beer of course.

They have a great selection of wine and if you're not quite sure what you want they can always give a few suggestions based on your price point and preferences. They also have a great selection of spirits and cigars. You can also head back to the bar for some tasting and great food. I've tried all their appetizers and they're all really yummy. This place is a bit of a hidden gem, so make sure to stop by when you're in town.

Ojai Beverage Company, OBC from here on... was a real treat.  Lots of wines and booze to choose from at reasonable prices; except for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape for around $1,500 smackers along with the other French reds.  Oh, I am just kidding; actually I liked touching the bottle and it's nice that if you wanted to, you could buy it then and there!  It was also kinda cool that in the back they had a place to snack and drink.  A bar within a liquor store = FUN!

I loved this place, first time here for a roommates birthday, awesome selection of beers. So hard to choose just one, so go for the 20 beer sampler. Great food and nice friendly atmosphere. I can't wait to come back!

We found this place because our hotel gave us a voucher for two free tastings. My boyfriend got the beer tasting which was amazing with all local beers and I chose the wine tasting which was equally as fun ( sangria was even among the options). For both you could choose anything off the menu which was rad and made choosing fun/time consuming (they have alot of options).
We ordered the Parm Fries Blackened with amazing dipping sauces, the BLUE CHEESE sliders and the fish tacos. All were beyond amazing.
The service was a hare slow however our server was super sweet and knowledgable.
    Would go back again!

Cool atmosphere, met some really nice locals, and of course tried the 20-beer tasting. Only liked two of the choices though, the strawberry beer and the cider. The way they arrange the beers in the tasting is strange. Shouldn't it go from light to heavy? Instead it was a big mix and things tasted weird next to other things... I don't know. It's a popular option though so they're clearly doing something right.

As for the food, the fries were ok... the artichoke poppers were gross. But hey, that's Ojai for you!

Everyone in Ojai knows that OBC is the place to go on any givin day or time to get a beer or glass of wine, consistently good food and excellent customer service.

It's a fun place to hang out with a group of friends or on a dinner date. The place always has a great mix of people of all ages, locals and visitors. A lively vibe with good energy and a huge selection of beer & wine. They consistanly post drink & food specials on the OBC Facebook page which is super helpful making plans for when we have quests coming into town.

About a year ago I recommended OBC to my friends who LOVE good beer and they happen to travel to Ventura twice a year for work from all over the country. OBC is now a scheduled dinner & drinks visit for all of them. I've also told several friends from SB who visit Ojai for a day hike and after wards a much needed meal & drink. Once they check it out, it becomes that place you keep going back to.

I personally love the atmosphere, the staff always greets us, they are inviting and there's always a familiar face (or two or three) hanging out. We recently tried the new pastrami on rye with a side salad and a glass of wine and it was so tasty. Full of flavor, and the portions were very generous. We could have split the one sandwich, but we don't mind having left overs. I also like that they introduce new items to the menu and the wine flights. The tri-tip panini is the best one in town.

Love this place.  Came in and did a beer tasting.  They have some great beers on tap.  We didn't try any of their food, but the fries looked and smelled really good.  Surprisingly the raspberry cider was the most refreshing.
They are also a liquor store and sell beer, wine, you name it.  They have a ton of different types of beer for sale.  Something for everyone.

We visited this restaurant from out of town. We were there on our honeymoon. People in the town had told us that THIS was the place to be, so we went. We had great drinks and the best buffalo dip appetizer in the world and my husband had the amazing fish tacos. But... The customer service was terrible. Our waitress made us feel like a piece of crap. She was rude the whole entire time. We felt like we didnt belong there and it even set the mood for our dinner there. So I recommend going for drinks and appetizers, but I suggest watching out for one of the waitresses there.

The food was really good and for the price, the samplers were amazing and really cheap too.  The only thing is that the service was a bit slow.  But after a good night of drinking, my girl and I had an awesome time here!

This review is for the "bar/restaurant" area of OBC, not the store, per se.
This place is legit. If you are a beer geek this is a great stop in Ojai. 20 craft beers on draft and great variety of styles and brewers. Reasonably priced. Food was also very good. Definitely not a place to go for a healthy meal, but for upscale burger or sandwich & beer this nails it. Also, nice patio to sit outside. I dig the concept of this place.
Cons: Fairly small. No TV's. Not great ambiance if in search of a true restaurant/bar feel.

Great food, great beer, crappy service.

Maybe sit at the bar if you'd like to get drinks with your meal since the server couldn't be arsed to haul a pint out to the patio.
My girlfriend got the fish tacos and really liked them, I had the turkey burger and thought it was great, but the meal was done before I called it quits and cancelled my not-arriving order for a second beer.

There were 20 interesting beers on tap, but I only got to try one. With a name like the Ojai Beverage Company it's a damn shame that I couldn't get a beverage.

Really wanted to like the joint, and I'd give the place 5 stars but had to knock a full two and a half stars off for unforgivably apathetic service (let's just say the half-star rounded down).

    Disappointing.

Great little spot to down a beer in the heart of Ojai.  Very unassuming place with LOTS of craft brews on tap--many of which I've never heard of before.  The food is okay, but that's not the reason to come here.  If you tell the server what kind of beer you like, they will put together a flight for you to taste.  Nice, right?  Anyway, check it out if you are in Ojai!

I had the best fish tacos of my trip here!!! My second day bicycling into Ojai, I decided to try a different place to eat and this place was recommended. Delicious, 3, fish tacos with plenty of cabbage and a tasty dressing. I ordered even additional fries since I still had to bicycle back to Ventura but there was no beer for me to drink...could not believe they had no beer with no wheat...so I drank lemonade and had a delicious lunch. Do something about the beer choice as I still find it hard to believe!

A definite stop if you're ever visiting Ojai!  The OBC has 20 beers on tap and offers beer tasting at 5 for $10, 15 for $25 or 20 for $31. And each tasting is 5 oz. each.  My bf and I did the 5 tastings each since we were also eating there and didn't want to get full.  Joshua, our bartender, was knowledgeable about every beer on tap.  He gave us brief history about the beers and was super friendly.  My favorite beer was their Cherry Tart on tap.  It tasted just like a dark chocolate covered cherry!

For our lunch, we ordered the Portobello Mushroom and Cabernet Burger.  The Portobello Mushroom was really juicy and great with the blue cheese.  I asked for "medium" on the Cabernet Burger but it was well done so it was too dry for me.  It tasted like any regular burger out there to me and I couldn't taste the rosemary and wine reduction in the meat.

Overall, OBC is a great place for food and drink!

I love OBC. All the food is really good, and they have a ton of microbrews... although the microbrew selection is a bit chaotic, as is the layout. OBC is a nice place to cool your heels on a hot, Ojai summer evening

    dog friendly!

This place a vast selection of craft beer. In fact, it's a lot better than your average Bevmo when it comes to finding those hidden gems in the craft beer scene that you just can't come across just anywhere.

The problem is that they come at a price. They mark that sucker up some. So hey, if you were thinking of going for a bottle, just go for something they have on draft. Looking at the every changing tap list, there's bound to be something that catches your because it is a pretty good selection of booze.

I wouldn't really say the food is anything spectacular. It tries, but it doesn't really succeed all that well in getting to that point of being worth it to come here for some grub. But if you must have something with your alcohol to at least fill your belly and soak up that fire sauce, then go for it.

My recommendation is to come here for the craft beer. There's not many places around in the Ventura area that will fulfill the needs that you'd get from coming here. Everything from Rogue, to Firestone and anything else in the middle. At worse, just get some small appetizer plate if you're really hungry, they're at least good for what you're paying.

One of the best beer bars in ventura county.

The food is just okay, but I would definitely return for the beer sampling.  20 craft beers, for $31.  The pours were larger than we were expecting based on our server's description.  Having already had multiple wine tastings earlier in the day, the beers sort of broke us.  But, it was a lot of fun, and I did particularly enjoy several of the beers.

The restaurant area is at the back of a liquor store.  The liquor store looked to have a wide selection.

Good place for a fun afternoon!

Apps were amazing! Prosciutto wrapped artichoke. Amazing! Brioche. Equally delicious. My friend had a hamburger and was a little disappointed with the size of the patty...but it looked good to me! I had the tri tip panini which I though was very good, but did notice the meat was a little more well done than maybe someone else would like. So if you like rare make sure to specify.
But the real reason to go is the beer choices. They had about 20 local beers on draught I had two myself and tried a couple others, they were all very good, and different than what you're probably drinking normally.
And after dinner you can shop around and check out more local beers and wines and a lot of interesting liquors and bar extras.
Very fun! Will definitely return if I find myself in Ojai again soon.

My friends and I ride our bikes to this place from Ventura. It's a thirty mile round trip, we have a great time.

This place is friendly. Both the employees and the patrons are a delight to be around.

The first Sunday of each month is Sunday Fun day. The specials are super including half price beer as well as other specials. They have 20 craft beers on tap!

The food is really tasty and the service is with a smile.

If you find yourself in Ojai, do yourself a favor and stop by. Say hello to Tim, he is our favorite bartender.

By far THE best thing to happen in ventura county in years. The beer selection is fantastic, the food is amazing & the service can't be beat. We had the blow your mind chicken & it blew our minds! The creamy spicy chicken is paired perfectly with crunchy cool lettuce & crispy bacon. My friend got the 50/50 burger & won't stop talking about it! I had the Cabernet burger & it was cooked perfectly! So juicy & full of flavor! We also had the Mac n cheese & holy crap! Best. Ever.
Besides the awesomeness that was our meal, the beer selection is great! We had a few pitchers of the OBC beers & each one was better than the last.
The fact that this place is also a store is probably my favorite thing. Like that beer you just had? Take it home!
The prices are completely reasonable, maybe even modest, for what you get
I love OBC & will def be back.
    Bravo.

My friend and I visited this place on the recommendation of a local, who advised that it was the only place to get a drink post 6 pm in a town that more or less shuts down at dusk.  Allegedly, this is where all the "cool" kids go - everyone else goes to The Hub.  We arrived around 9:30, an hour and a half before close, and the place was pretty empty.  There's an outer room with tables and another room that houses the bar and retail operation - which appeared to offer a pretty good selection of merchandise.

They have 20 craft beers on tap and you can try 5 for $10, 12 for $15, or 20 for....something.  We did the 5 for $10, as we weren't in the mood to get plastered, and each ended up liking 2 of our 5 (we each selected different beers).  While I love the concept of tasting a bunch of different beers (or whatever), I would have loved it even more if the bartender had told us it was $2 pint night (all month) before handing us our check.

Best beer we tried was the Allagash Four Quadruple, worst was the Dubbel Overhead (tasted like apple cider vinegar), weirdest was the Sierra Nevada Hoptimum IPA (which smelled like B.O.).  Tri-tip sandwich and fish tacos were the bomb.  Will definitely return for the $2 pints and happy hour food.

This place is as good as it gets. I've been going to Ojai for years and never knew this place existed. My realtor took me here to celebrate, after the purchase of a small horse ranch earlier this month. I was totally blown away. They have, besides a wine and beer bar, 750 different craft & imported beers, 1000 domestic & international wines, over 300 whiskeys, 200 tequilas, and much much more. They also have the valley's only walk in humidor fully stocked for the cigar aficionado. Top this off with some really great food and Ojai has a very special place for you to visit on your next trip to this great little town.

You MUST come here for the 20 beer sampler!  Just do the 20.  Don't be like "oh that is too much too drink, I think I should go with the 5 beer sampler" ... NO! Just do the 20, it is so worth it.  I wish this place was closer to home because the 20 beer sampler will get you pretty hammered haha, that and the beers were delicious especially their house beers.

Other then the sampler, this place has a huge selection of beers, wines, and spirits - think Bevmo just smaller store area, but just about the same selections - all at decent prices too.  I highly recommend this as a stop in Ojai.

This bar/restaurant/liquor store is quite the find.  The staff are overly enthusiastic about their booze, and the microbrew enthusiast can quickly feel right at home.  My husband wanted to get a growler of their own house brew, but apparently they don't bottle it yet or allow growlers to be sold (due to some weird state law blah blah blah).  Our only option was to plop a seat at the bar and imbibe in their Ojai Beverage Company beer right then and there.

I did not partake in the brewskies because I am horribly allergic to something in beer (which didn't seem to offend anyone working at the bar, and I even had my own iced coffee from down the street).  I was just as welcome as any beer drinker or patron.  My husband had their IPA, and he said he enjoyed it very much.  The atmosphere was chill, they have an excellent patio, and the menu was appetizing.  We had just eaten lunch, so unfortunately no grub was acquired, but based on what I saw wafting around me I definitely want to return.  It was very gastropub-esque.  Love it!

Restaurant/bar inside a booze store, nice. Looked in our hotel provided guide magazine and they had a coupon for BOGO on beer and wine flights. We did a wine flight and we got to pick the wines!

Wine: Domaine Napa Chardonnay and Cab Sauv and the Morgan Pinot Noir were the best. I don't really remember the others, but they were the cheaper ones on the list.

We got the truffle fries and artichoke poppers for an appetizer. I'm not a fan of prosciutto so I removed it from the poppers and they were ok, but the truffle fries were amazing. Super decadent.

I got the Gorgonzola Mac n' cheese without bacon (I know, I'm weird.) this was pretty good too. Not the best I've ever had, but still really good.

Overall, the atmosphere was hip and fun and the food and wine were tasty. Definitely would come back here on a future visit to Ojai.

Jessica R is right; OBC is truly a gem!  I don't live in Ojai anymore, but always make a stop here in when in town; the liquor store has a great selection, but the best past is the beer / wine bar.

20 beers on tap --- four house labels, the rest are rotating craft beers.

The often rotating selection --- and policy of offering free sample tastes --- has offered me a chance to try some great beers I would not have had otherwise. (Who would have thought that Kona Coconut Brown was so great?).

There are also a great many bottled beers in the cooler.  A fun thing to do is buy a bottled one --- or even a soft drink if you are the driver --- and enjoy it while socializing at the bar.

Happy hour offers 1/2 price off some of the food menu and $1 off the tap beers.

Alex and Jorge --- along with the wonderful staff --- have hit one out of the park here.

Oh, and on the food, don't miss the Ensalada Helene.

Too bad I live three time zones away!

This place is awesome. Alex, our bartender is super, super friendly and genuinely so. The beer selection is great. The wine selection is just okay, BUT you can get any of the bottles retail for no corkage.

Prices on food and retail are very fair and reasonable. Food is solid, but it isn't going to change your life. Come on! It's about the alcohol.

The buffalo chicken pizza and Reuben were good, the bruschetta was even better.

During our day spent in Old Town Ojai, my man and stopped at OBC.  It was on our agenda to stop there, since he had been before.  Walking in, I felt like I was walking into a liquor store mixed with a Total Wine.  Once you pass all the alcohol, you get to a small seating area, and full bar in the back.  They also have a new patio area on the side.

It was a beautiful day outside, so we chose the patio.  Since I am not a real fan of beer, we decided that the Hard Apple Cider would be a good choice for me.  It tasted more like Chardonnay than anything else.  The bf got the sampler which is 5 beers for $10, 10 for $20, or all 20 for $31.  He seemed to like all the choices he got.  He said something like, "this is real beer, not that cheap bud light crap..." something along those lines lol.

Overall, the atmosphere is fun and I would go there again :)
