I am a local, and have to say that I have NEVER once had bad service or encountered a rude person. As a matter of fact, it is the one place in town that I know I can always have great service! I went in tonight and expected to order my old standby, my favorite meal when I'm having a bad day. Although I was very sad to see the menu has changed, our server Sean had a great attitude and all smiles while dealing with my inability to cope with change. I didn't love my meal, BUT the charm of the atmosphere and even more-the charm of the staff turned what could have been a disappointment into a great experience.
I must tell you that we tried to recreate our favorite burger using the new menu, and for us it didn't work. I loved the old pretzels that were soft and golden yellow and easy to pull apart into little pieces. I loved the old fries. I loved the old burgers. After talking at length with the manager Kori I learned that the new chef is focused on fresh, fresh, fresh, and the menu changed only about 4 weeks ago. I think a good menu is like a good cast iron skillet, it takes time to be seasoned correctly. I have hope that the positive attitude of management and staff will help the new chef dial in exactly what has made this one of my favorite places to eat.
So, no, I didn't love my meal, but I didn't really order off the menu either, and I could have really missed out on something new and good by being unwilling to give up my old standby.
Don't let the new menu scare you, enjoy the smiles of the staff, the excitement of the tourists, and enjoy!
I love their Strawberry Daze beer but you can only get it the weekend of Strawberry Days. Â Not sure why they don't brew it all year round...
I'm a local and have been going to this place for 2 years. Â They recently changed the menu and I'm not a fan. Â They have Burger and a Beer on Thursday's for $10 (used to be $9). Â The chef can't cook a med-rare burger to save his/her life. Â I agree with the other reviews about how RUDE the bartender is...she is unreal. Â If I'm going to pay over $20, I would like to have a server who wants me there. Â
They need to hire nicer people...good thing they have growlers so I don't have to experience the bad service. Â If it changes, I will delete this review but something's got to change.
We hit up Glenwood Canyon Brewing once again on our trip up to the hot springs. Â It is a popular spot and if you get there later in the evening you can have quite a wait. Â They do have buzzers and a waiting area in the basement of the Hotel Denver that you can go and sit in comfy couches, watch TV and put in a drink order. Â So it makes the time go by a bit faster. Â
Once in we were sat at a table next to the stairs. Â I would suggest if ever you are sat at this table you should ask to be moved. Â We had SEVERAL people fall down the stairs and almost take out the table while we ate. Â It really sucked! Â
However, the food and beer was as good as I remember. Â I opted for the Chicken Enchiladas this time and they were a spicy treat, plus they come with that wonderful black bean and corn salad. Â The hubby stuck with Chicken Fried Steak and love it. Â And of course the stepson stuck with a burger and the picky eater ate it up - so it must be good. Â
This time around I stuck mostly with the Hanging Lake Ale. Â I tried the hubby's Raspberry Wheat, but it wasn't a great batch. Â
It was a busy place, but a fun spot to get a bite, have a beer and watch a game! Â Easy walk from the pedestrian bridge and located in the easy to find Hotel Denver - all good!
Great food. The only thing that didnt make sense is the the Growler is cheaper than a pitcher of beer. The waitress should have suggested the growler.
The portabello sandwich was great. Â Also had the appetizer- sloppy joe which was a mix of Elk, Buffalo and Hamburger. I tried the prime rib panini which was good as well. Â Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Â Their mash potatoes were banging! Â The nachos were covered in lettuce, never seen that before and not sure It was the best idea.
The best beer, awesome food, good service, great atmosphere. They have such a good variety that it can't be beat. The prices are good too. We went here the first night of our trip, on our second night we walked all over town checking out the menus of other places, the eventually came back here because it could not be beat.
Review Source:I debated on whether to actually submit this review or not, but the more I think about my experience, I feel compelled to warn other potential patrons of the service at Glenwood Canyon. Â I cannot comment on the food as we stopped in simply for drinks. Â The bartender, Stephanie, was the most rude, impolite and venomous person in the service industry I've ever encountered. Â Her poor attitude and insulting comments towards me and my group were not only off-putting but completely unnecessary. Â I am sure this place has some redeeming qualities, but because of Stephanie, I would not return to discover what they are. Â If they are willing to keep someone like that employed, I don't want to find out what else they have to offer.
Review Source:We had dinner  l celebrate Mother's Day, it took over an hour to get our food. A grilled cheese for my son, turkey club for me and the pork special for my husband. The pork was dry, didn't come prepared the way our sever described to us and my husband was very unsatisfied. My club had 2 slices of deli style turkey on it and ordered it hot it was prepared hot cause the cheese was melted but it was cold when it was served and the fries I was served were cold as well. Our server was very accommodating but when you go somewhere and order simple food because you have a toddler and you still wait an hour it's frustrating enough but when the food is not worth the wait that is disappointing. We will not return and we eat at this establishment when we visit Glenwood which is often we live 40 mins away
Review Source:Loved it! We went with our 11/2 year old and felt very welcome. I had the No Name Brown and the Old-Scottish and both were very good. My husband, the IPA snob also raved about the beers. For food, I had the Colorado Bass special on risotto. The risotto was a little under-cooked, but I can easily over look that since the atmosphere was perfect and the staff very friendly. The clientele was great as well. No one was bothered that our toddler was there when we bellied up to get a pre-dinner beer while we waited for our table, which didn't take long at all, didn't even get our beers paid for before we were sat. Very friendly, kid-friendly, beer-snobbery friendly, maybe not extreme foodie friendly, but was better than typical pub food.
Review Source:A Few Locals told me to try this place if I like Good Craft beers and it wasnt disappointing. I ordered the Flight of Beers. Comes with 12 about 4 oz samples.
I must say the Whiskey Porter was my favorite by far. Whiskey and beer absolutely great.
They Serve brunch as well.
I ordered the Bison Burger with Fries and Medium Well.
Very Little Pink on the inside the way I like it. Moist and Delicious and I could of ordered one more for the road. The fries were crisp and good standard restuarant variety.
Great Server who always checked up on us. We Sat by the Brew room with the big tanks and clear glass so you can see people working.
My friend ordered the Chicken wings and they had lots of meat on them and i could smell the spicy sauce.
We left full and satisfied.
Honestly, I'm surprised to read so many raves about the beer. I tried several, and only the Raspberry Wheat was any good. The others were mediocre at best.
For beer and service I'd give this place two stars - the curly haired bartender obviously hates being there and was kind of surly. Things vastly improved when a woman took over, but by that time we were ready to go.
We got a couple things to go (bratwurst and a half rack of ribs). Both of those were better than we'd expected, so there's the third star. :)
I debated going with a 3* or 4*. Â The service was fantastic. Â It was very busy and yet no one showed their frustration...and any of us who've worked in service know how frustrating it can be to get super busy on a night when you don't expect it.
The food was just OK. Â I had a green chili burger which might as well of not had any green chili on it. Â While there was plenty, it lacked any flavor or heat. Â The kids had chicken strips and fries. Â Fries were fine but the chicken was on the greasy side. Â Another kid had fish and chips - also good on the flavor side but a little too greasy. Â Grandma had chili in a bread bowl and said it was fine. Â
We had cheesecake for dessert and it was WAY overpriced @ $7.95 (iirc) for a very small slice.
The drinks were top notch. Â I had their house brewed raspberry wheat which was very, very good. Â Nice body with just a hint of sweet from the fruit. Â The root beer was superb! Â We bought a growler to bring home and look forward to cracking it open with friends this weekend.
Overall - I'd go back but probably not before trying a few other places first.
Sorry guys. Â Your beer is great. BEER IS GREAT!!!
But...Your service needs some work. We walked in and sat in the bar area. The server took a little longer then usual to get things started. Having never been there, I ordered the taster platter. It was NYE and I wanted to try some new brews. The beer was good and I was actually surprised by a few of them.
However, our server was not up to par. She might have been busy and got stuck with us as her only table. But I saw he come out of the back, look around then go back to the back. Â (This was when we were waiting to order for a while) She came back and said "Sorry, I was stuck in the back room." Â Something was just off. Â
When we got our order in, things seemed to be at a normal speed. Knowing we were having a pretty heavy dinner, I ordered a salad and chicken quesadilla. Â Unfortunately the sour cream came with one of our servers red hairs. That alone just made eating that food hard. I didn't want to complain. Â
We finished up the taster platter and waited for our check. It took a while...ago on the service.
I'd go back for a beer sitting at the bar. But to enjoy a meal, I think I'd pass.
Thursday beer and burger day for $9.00 is a good deal....
and their  Hanging Lake Honey Ale (a wheat beer) is very good.
Nice menu, friendly service, good beer - with an entrance door to the hotel I was staying at. Â If you are staying there (Hotel Denver) you get a discount here as well
Its a fun local pub -
Glenwood Canyon Brewpub constantly knocks me out with the selection of amazing craft beers they brew in house. The Hanging Lake Honey Ale is incredible as is the Vapor Cave IPA. The food is awesome as well. I really like the burgers and the Canyon Salad. You won't be sorry you came here! Highly recommended!
Review Source:Boo second experience here was AWFUL. Â I wanted the prime rib which was on the menu, but they only have it on Saturdays. Â So I ordered a burger, but it was terrible. Â The bun was stale and the meat was a hockey puck, one of those pre-shaped frozen burgers. Â No wonder they didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked. Â It made me sad. Â My first experience (prime rib) was good. Â I guess only go on Saturdays.
Review Source:Good beer and a nice ambiance inside and in the surrounding neighborhood. The food was decent, nothing to write home about. We ordered nachos to start which were laden with toppings, a very good thing, however the cesar salad  was not great, with soggy lettuce and a sub-par dressing. All in all if I were local, I would give it another chance.
On the plus side the bar was busy and had plenty of tables so a good place to hang out and have some beers.
The flight of beers I had I would rate as 4 stars. The Club sandwich I had with my flight might be a little lower but it was pretty alright. The benefit of going to a brewpub with a non-beer drinking friend is that you get to finish his flight for him. The downside of that is that you also get two tasters of the brews you didn't like too! I'll be in here my next visit to Glenwood as long as they keep making good beers.
Review Source:Skip it.
Pretty much your basic..I've been drinking for 5 hours and need food in my stomach so I don't throw up kinda place....I hope thats not too harsh : / The food was just really bad. I bet this place is great for happy hour or just a nice spot to sit and drink with your buddies or family.
One thing that bugged me the most was the service staff having not-so-appropriate conversations while they were standing next your table, it just looks bad, I really don't want to hear about your drunken escapades while I'm eating. As a part of the industry that is like the number one NO NO...so I must address it.
Being the craft brew fanatic that I am, this place has been on my list of breweries to visit for about a year now. On a recent trip to Glenwood Springs, I happily got my chance and was not disappointed.
Our group sat at the bar and ordered a sampler. The bartender also threw in an extra sample of their cider at no extra charge. All of the beers were quite good but the standout brews were the Grizzly Creek Raspberry Wheat and the Hanging Lake Honey Ale. I ended up getting a full pint of the refreshing Raspberry Wheat and we took a growler of the Honey Ale back to our hotel.
The food was pretty standard for pub fare, if not a little better. I got a buffalo burger with mozzarella and mushrooms and mashed potatoes. Everything hit the spot and it was big enough that I was able to take some back to the hotel for a snack later.
The service was alright. It seemed to me like the bartenders were less than excited to have a group that wanted to order food at the bar but they made it through nevertheless. Our bartender perked up a bit when we started chatting about downtown Denver, where he had lived for a bit.
Overall we had a pretty good experience here and I will definitely go back when I visit Glenwood again.
A group of 4 of us came in after a longish drive from Denver. We were able to catch  a seat at the bar, together, while the wait to be seated was 30 minutes. We ordered a beer platter and they threw in a cup of hard cider too. The beer here is VERY good. The 4 of were sharing the sampler and we were all feeling it by about 3/4 of the way through.
The food was the main issue. It was ok and they messed up my friends order. the enchiladas were very um, Caucasian style.
The service was ok, but not the best we've ever had either. One of the girls behind the bar kept giving us the stink-eye... maybe that's just how she looks. idk.
Hi there. Â We were in your pub twice this past weekend. Â Once on the way to Southern Utah, Â once on the way back. Â Our server was GREAT on the way out....I'm sorry I didn't get her name. Â But unfortunately, Â we had a different experience on our second visit.
Kelsey was our server. Â She came up to our table promptly, Â and we ordered beers and a kid pizza for our son. Â We were not ready to order our meals yet. Â When she came back, Â my husband ordered off the menu and I asked about your daily special, Â a grilled bacon and cheese sandwich that came with either purple potato steak fries or summer potato salad. Â My husband said, Â "Oh, Â what ARE the specials, Â I didn't see the board." Â Kelsey just looked over at the board. Â I had read the board so I described the specials to him, Â including the soup. Â Then I asked Kelsey what the potato salad was like and she responded, Â "Oh, Â I don't know. Â I haven't seen it. Â I just got here. Â I don't normally work days." Â Â Ok. Â Hmmm. Â Ok. Â No offer from her to haul her butt to the kitchen and ask the cook......so, Â I guess I'll have FRIES, Â since I know what to expect from those!
Then, Â she disappeared. Â For a while. Â I have waited table and tended bar for much of my life, Â so I'm pretty understanding, Â until I'm not. Â Â Our little family had just come off a great desert trip, Â a wonderful swim at the springs, Â and we were feeling really good. Â We talked, Â sipped our beers. Â Then emptied our beers. Â Â I started to wonder where the heck our food was. Â We started looking around. Â Nothing. Â No Kelsey. Â We saw two guys at the bar get their food; Â they had come in and ordered quite a bit later than we did. Â I know my food is taking too long when I start to miss it....especially when I have a good beer in front of me!
Finally, Â Kelsey shows up, Â goes back to the kitchen, Â delivers our food. Â It had obviously been sitting under a hot lamp or something. Â My bread was dried out and the fries looked as though they had been refried to heat them up. Â All in all, Â it was a bummer. Kindof took the steam out of us. Not what we expect from your place, Â as we visit every time we drive through there. Â I just thought you should know about it. Â Kelsey seems as though she's just there to hobnob with young locals, Â which is fine, Â but your tourist season is coming up, Â and if she wants to make money she needs to refine her service a bit.
I was going to Yelp about it but I figured,  most of the time we really love your place and the food has always been good,  service friendly and PROMPT,  and great beer.  So,  there it is.
(reviewer's note:) Â There is no email contact information on this restaurants' website, Â so....Yelp it is!!
This place is best described as a "Diner Brewery". Â Let me first say that nothing on the menu was cooked poorly, and the wait staff was responsive. Â But on a whole there was nothing special that I couldn't get at a diner. Â The beer was ok, but not worth a special visit. The menu could be described as eclectic, as there didn't seem to be any cohesive theme. Â Choices ranged from enchiladas to beef stroganoff served on flat noodle linguini (never seen this before....). Oversized portions, which may be a bonus if you go with a teenager. Â Price points for items seemed to be wildly divergent ranging from 13 to 27 dollars per plate. Â Specials were noted on a chalk board as you come in, but of course no prices to aid the visitor in a decision.
BTW (important) the hostess's will try to seat a multi-person party at two long "lunch stand style" counters in the bar area whereby you and your companions will be on display for the viewing pleasure of the wait staff while you eat.
I was excited to try some new beers during my visit in Glenwood Springs. Unfortunately, most of the beers here just weren't very memorable. I got the sampler of eight beers and I have to say pretty much all of them were forgettable and one, the Grizzley Creek Raspberry Wheat was pretty bad, tasting of cold cough syrup diluted with water.
The only one that I would get again was the St. James Irish Red beer, which was nice and malty..definitely a good beer though not a great one by any means.
Didn't have the food here so I can't judge that. The service was good and they even let us stay a bit late as they were closing.
Definitely a cool place to check out if you're in town, but there are definitely other breweries in Colorado that have a better product.
Great beer, OK food and lackluster service.
I mentioned to the kid up front that I hadn't been here before, which he - without a word - took to mean I needed to sit at a table near screaming kids. No. I moved to a bar, where I mentioned to the bartender that I was a first-timer and wanted a beer. More silence, so I ordered an IPA that was on the menu. Would it be too much to point at the listing of the available beers hanging above the bar, some of which are not on the menu?
The bratwurst sandwich was adequate, but the touted (here) garlic mashers were too salty.
All-in-all not too bad, but mostly because of the great beer. But the employees need to be a little more forth-coming with service. I think that's why they're there.
Frozen Frozen and....Frozen!! The only reason I didn't give 1 star is for the beer.
Let me just start by saying we order a soft pretzel appetizer and I joked to my husband that it was so totally frozen, I think all they did was add salt. Â It's just like the one's you can get at the grocery store!! Then I saw a review that also mentioned the frozen grocery store soft pretzel! Â After this, I did not have high hopes for anything else we ordered. Â Thank heavens I didn't have high hopes because I would have been very disappointed, that's for sure!
The entrees we ordered, were again, frozen and microwaved. Â My husband had meatloaf and steamed veggies. I had a ravioli dish. Â This was one of the saddest meals I think we've ever eaten out. We skipped dessert!
The beer was alright though. Â I would most likely go here to drink, but that's it!!
Great bar for a small'ish town and really friendly wait staff and crowd; which is always a plus.
Glenwood Springs' hot spot for sure. The fries were perfectly seasoned and came with ranch... without even having to request it- kudos for that alone!
One of my favorite things about Brew  Co's is their home brewed root beer- there really is nothing better. Their root beer is fantastic and the friend I was with got an "infused" beer- still not sure what this means, but it was fantastic.
5 stars for service, superb root beer and serving ranch with fries- without having to request it.
Our bartender's name was John- ask for him if you go, he was great.
Notice: This review is all about the beer. We ate food, but we were too drunk to really taste it by the end - and really, who goes to a brew-pub for the food? If you do, get beer-approved food like fish and chips, foods that don't change the way the beer tastes.
First, I must say that I'm not generally a huge fan of beer. I know, I know, but I can't hide what I am. I've toured New Belgium and O'dells and a few other small brewpubs and generally I like the lightest, least hoppy beer they make and maybe an amber. But HERE - I think I rejected only 2 of the 11 that we tried. The Honey Ale, the Amber Ale, the Nut Brown Ale, the German, the Raspberry Wheat, the Red Mountain, all delicious. I didn't like the IPA or the Stout, but I never do, so there's that. I'm not a beer-snob, but I like to try things. That being said, I feel like these beers are very user-friendly. There's no surprises, they're all pretty mild (which I like) but they don't push the envelope or anything. That's the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
