In short, Fantastic. This is our 3rd trip there, this time was there for a very important date with my wife and we had the Steak and Lobster special. It was our first Lobster and it was amazing, just like we had hoped Lobster would be. The food is always a hit.

The only downside is that the service is always slow. However, if you go in with that in mind, you will be good.

A group of us had dinner here. Wow, these folks know how to cook. A hidden gem at the end of a wine tasting day. We had pepper steaks, lobster dishes, superb salads,  everything we ate was first class.  Great service and they serve local winery selections so you taste what the area offers.  Every trip here has been worth the stop and we'll all be back.
The staff is really cool, very nice, chatty and helpful with dinner offerings.

I love this little restaurant. It is quaint and cute little bar and grill tucked away in Fairplay wine country. They did not have a specific gluten-free menu but the waitress went out of her way to make sure everything I consumed was gluten and dairy free. I had a yummy organic greens salad with grilled chicken served with a champagne shallot dressing. No stomach cramps Yay! Sammy had a burger with no bun and yummy fries. I would definitely go again.

I had the lobster and steak, my date had the encrusted mahi mahi.  Her starter salad was excellent.  My clam chowder was good but could have used a bit more clam flavor.  Both entrees were very tasty and cooked just right.  The portions were generous and I think the pricing is fair.

The server was outstanding.  I liked the overall ambiance.  Will absolutely go back.

A patron near me had a dish made with salmon, scallops, and shrimp that looked fantastic.  She too was very pleased with her dinner.

We have been dining here since the Grill opened, and consider it to have the best...quality ... food in El Dorado County.  Do wish they could do something about the noise level. The salmon entree has been changed to "blackened", but the chef is always willing to prepare it with the creamy red pepper sauce, which I prefer.  A great place for enjoying appetizers at the bar.  Their cheesesteak sandwich for lunch is the best.  They freshly make all of their own soups, sauces and desserts and everything I have tried is truly "gourmet".  If you like calamari steak, it is tender, flavorful and plentiful.

Just bought a property about a mile and a half away from this place...  Got together on a Saturday with a couple friends to do a little pre-construction clean-up and came here for a late lunch at 3:38pm (not knowing that they close at 3pm to prepare for dinner).  Even though we looked like dirty rodents after working for hours and the restaurant was officially closed, they took us in to eat at the bar while they prepared tables for the night.  I can't express my gratitude enough, as trying to find a place to eat in Somerset doesn't seem like an easy task.

We all had the Buck's BBQ Burger with fries.  They even made mine a double - absolutely delicious!  I usually drench my fries with ketchup, but these were so good that I ate them plain.  They're mildly salted, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and they just taste damn good...

They took the time to prepare our food well and made us feel welcome - no rush to get us out, no small town "you ain't from around here, are ya... boy?" attitude, no fuss... just a pleasant experience.  So, when Sunday came around and we needed a lunch break, wanna guess where we came?  Yeah, buddy... they'll be seeing a lot of me.

Bad server there will keep me from going back. Even though it is 5 minutes from my house.  I spent too much money there to be treated the way we were.  Not sure of servers name but she was a short frumpy middle aged lady with brown hair. I believe she owns a winery nearby which I also will not purchase.  I heard from other people that she has been rude to them as well.

The Gold Vine is the place to go in the Fair Play wine country for food beyond crackers and cheese. The tasty Thai style shrimp wontons they serve are great. The service is excellent and food is very consistent. This is one of a few local restuarants, so it is the resturant to many of the local vinters as well. If I were to stay in the area at one of the B&B's, I would definitely dine here.

I absolutely love this place.  If you are from the area, you know how few the options are when you want to go out for a meal, there have been other diners in this same spot, but they weren't worth the time or money when it came to food quality.

This place rocks every time I've been there, weather it's the Seafood, Steak or even their burger, I have not had a bad meal.  I think it's my Mom's favorite place to eat.

We loved this restaurant and will come back next time we are in the area.  The spinach salad was delicious but a bit overdressed. I suggest asking for it to be lightly dressed.  The veggie panini was the best I ever experienced.  The eggplant and zucchini were perfectly grilled and not greasy.  The pastrami panini was good but nothing note worthy.  The restaurant features a great wine list with over 50 local selections. I enjoyed the Madrona Chardonnay. Friendly, impressive service and dog friendly outdoor bistro tables. We had lunch but I would love to try dinner next time. Highly recommend.

    Well priced & great food.

The people here are so nice. Knowledgeable about how each dish is prepared and HONEST. I'm the type of vegetarian who won't do chicken/beef broth and they were kind enough to tell me if a dish was prepared with said broth(s). When I looked disappointed they suggested another selection on the menu and WOW! Everything I've had here was yummy.
My favorite was the Grilled Artichoke appetizer - I could make a whole meal out of these! Another nice touch was the extensive local wine list.
Ambiance is good, as is the service. Prices are very reasonable for the portion size.

My only complaint is that in the 2 times I've been there I had to wait to 20+ minutes to be seated because it was so popular.

My wife and I drove up through the wineries and stayed the night.  Nice area and not overly touristy.  We stayed at a bed and breakfast and they recommended this place.  I have to say that it was a treat!

Everything was excellent!  The meat was cooked perfectly and the veggies were just awesome.  Every side was cooked as well as the entrée and you just don't always get that in even nice places.

This place is worth the price if you like really good food.  It was not crazy expensive either and well worth it. After a day of tasting wines in Amador and the surrounding area this is a great place to stop for some food.

    Food good.
    Ambiance good.
A little pricy for the type of food on the menu.
    I'd probably eat here again.

You can tell someone really cares about this place--as evidenced by the friendly staff, great menu and delicious food.  It's worth going a little out of your way to eat here (and you will go out of your way because it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, on the way to nowhere :).  I had the chicken salad sandwich, others had the turkey panini and mushroom soup.  All reported thumbs up.  Ding-ding-ding; we have a winner!

I love this place! Everytime I am in town I must go here! It is as good as it gets!

Where can you get zucchini sticks that are freshly breaded? The ginger shrimp raviolis are so good. I think I have had all of the appetizers and they are all delicious.

For entrees I love the chicken marsala or chicken picatta. The pork chops with the date chutney is  alsoa  great choice. All of the sauces for the entrees are made to order and do take a little bit longer but are worth the wait!

Its a small restaurant w/ a bar. They serve many local wines and also beers. All of their desserts are homemade ( I have tried them all and always have a hard time deciding on just one)

I would recommed this place to anyone who loves good food!

This is a great classy place that works well for formal dining or casual. And I really love their food! Its a nice place, so prices natually reflect that to a certain degree (menu and prices on website). If your in the area, its great place to enjoy an evening, with awesome food and friendly service.

    I might be a little biased though, I design and maintain their website (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fgoldvinegrill.com&s=d7f6fee54298e410ad646ed8259f0680264bd99c255f0c301cbedad1ae796509" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://goldvinegrill.com</a>).
