I love Goldbelt!
I've been here twice now for lunch. Â The first time I had the chicken Philly sandwich, which was great. Â We were with a larger group, of which several members had special orders. Â Everything came correctly, which was awesome.
The second time, I had the town favorite, a half pound burger. Â This was a phenomenal burger! Â It was cooked just slightly less than I would have preferred it,but I'd rather had a little under than over for sure. Â Deliciously seasoned, fresh toppings, just tasty all around. Â And the french fries were good, too.
I'll be back soon, Goldbelt!
Terrible, terrible, terrible. Honestly, one of the worst dining experiences of my life.
My burger was way overcooked and was really just burnt meat crumbs that weren't even holding together. Imagine a burnt meat sloppy joe. It was absolutely disgusting. As someone who has waited tables for years, I can honestly count on one hand the number of times I've sent food back to a kitchen, and this was without a doubt worthy.
We sat for 30 minutes with the untouched burger on the table, waiting for the server to check on us. (In the meantime, refilling our own drinks) When she finally appeared to bring the check, I showed her my burger. Her response was a very snotty "well I wish you would have told me earlier" and "what do you expect me to do about it now". When I let her know she hadn't been back to the table and had been nowhere to be found since dropping off the food, she threw her hands up and started yelling across the restaurant at us "well just blame me then, whatever...whatever!" as she walked away from our table.
We left cash on the table for the rest of our meal and left. I'm not trying to get into an argument with this woman. Apparently the server didn't think we had left enough money and had the "chef" chase us down the street, calling us thieves and threatening to call the police.
We straightened things out with him, but really?!? 1. You screwed up your food. 2. Your server yelled at us. 3. Let me explain theft to you-it's not stealing from you when I didn't eat the burger. Most folks would have left nothing and walked out.
I know there's not alot to choose from in Ouray, but I would rather not eat than get served grill scraps and then get yelled at for refusing to pay for it. Terrible food, worse service.
If your looking for a gluten free option this is good place. Â Otherwise, food is ok. Â There were so many flies it was hard to relax. Â I loved the outdoors so flies would not normally be something that bothers me, but this was too much. Â When I asked for them to do something about it the waitress said there was nothing they could do. Â Here a suggestion! Â Clean the window sills. Â Filthy! Â They also got our pizza order wrong. Â Overall, not a good experience.
Review Source:My husband and I went here for dinner one night. Â I ordered the chicken caesar wrap and he ordered the avocado wrap. Â There is a huge porch outside that allows you to sit outside and take in the breathtaking views. Â The food was pretty good (for Ouray) but the service was pretty slow. Â In our week spent in Ouray, this was one of the cheaper places we ate, and so it was a nice change from spending $30 for lunch!! Â We would go back, but if you want a better option, try Cimarron Cafe or True Grit in Ridgway!!
Review Source:This place used to be a mainstay when we visited Ouray. It was always a great place to grab a quick sandwich and enjoy the great onion rings.
The new owners, though, have changed from quick counter service to painfully slow table service. I can't imagine the reason for the change, other than perhaps having a waitress bring food to your table might help justify the higher prices.
I wish I could offer some advice about the food, but we never got any. After 20 minutes of unsuccessfully trying to flag down a waitress to take our order, we gave up and left. If you're going to be a full-service restaurant, you need to focus on service. I refuse to beg a restaurant to wait on me.
We arrived in Ouray super late on the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend only to encounter an adorable Victorian-era town full of closed restaurants. What were a couple of starvin'-marvin' touristas to do!? The lovely woman at the Outlaw took pity on us, but not enough to serve us food. With that, she recommended The Goldbelt which apparently was still open. As my friend and I struggled in at 9:30pm-ish the weary-looking hostess/waitress gave us the "Whadaya want!?" glare, but her kind soul saw the desperation and let us take a seat. The Goldbelt is a lovely diner with a pretty standard offering of burgers, salads, sandwiches, etc. in a cozy setting.
I went for the hamburger with fries (tried to keep it easy for the staff) with a 1554 New Belgium Beer on draught (mmm!). It came prepared with a super-generous portion of zesty curly fries. Really, a welcome end to a long travel-filled day. My friend went for a wrap and a 1554 which she also loved. I really can't express enough gratitude to the gracious hostess/waitress and wait staff who seated us so late. A slice of Ouray hospitality went a long way and we won't soon forget that! I would go to the Goldbelt again for breakfast, lunch or dinner, but do try to get your hands on a nice draught and those curly fries! A real treat. Thanks again!
This was our real food award after our final day of hiking. 4 14ers in 4 days. We were pleased to see they offer a gluten free crust, but my friend didn't enjoy their crust as much as Udi's. I got a supreme pizza there. It was tasty and filling. They also offer ice creams and sorbet. Overall, they were giving my dietary restricted friend good options. The pizza seemed a bit pricey, but that seems to be normal in Ouray. It did make two meals, though.
Review Source:Hands down the WORST hamburger I have ever tried. The meat actually tasted rancid. Â And what's worse than swatting a dozen flies away from your food the whole time you are trying to choke down what you think must be rotten meat?! Â Ouray would be best served to buy the owners out and turn this into a reputable establishment. Try your luck at any of the other two or three places in town touting 'the best burger in town' and avoid this place entirely.
Review Source:The flies, omg the flies!! You cannot sit inside and eat your lunch/dinner without swiping at your plate to shoo the flies away. They wouldn't let me swap out cheeses on my sandwich (it seems they have a thing against cheese, you cannot just get a cheese burger). The last straw for me was the woman behind the bar who was eating while waiting on customers and talking with food in her mouth. Food wise it was decent, Â if you can stand the rude service and the flies.
Review Source:Ate here our first night in Ouray, CO I thought the food was about  as good as bar food.  I didn't try the pizza.  The staff was rude to my wife and not very helpful.  The burgers were deff. overcooked and had no flavor.  We went back a couple days later to meet family that were in town and had a rootbeer float that was ok.
Review Source:This place isn't bad after a long day of playing in the ice and snow. Â But it's little more than a fast food joint. Â The burgers are overcooked for my taste, but I usually like mine still moo-ing. Â The fries are pretty tasty though... I'll probably go back next time I'm in town. Â It's definitely a good spot for hanging out with a beer and a burger.
