It's okay. Just depends on what you're expecting.  It's a dirty bar inside. Outside is nice because its small. Not too big that it gets crazy. Just relaxing, sometimes live music. Like being in your backyard with your personal bartenders. Except yore paying a lot more for your drinks! Some cute chick bartenders (according to the guys I was with).

My only complaint is that the bartenders were slow. No anticipating when someone would need a drink. Often we waited too long for a drink at a not very busy bar. We would have to call them over. Annoying.

Only reason I gave two stars is because they have a great beer selection.  I had been here a few times in the past and enjoyed the food but was not blown away but went for dinner over the weekend and will NEVER GO BACK.

Sat down around 8:30 pm and there was a decent crowd but not packed at all.  Ordered our food and drinks and close to an hour later food still was not delivered.  Burger and Mussels really shouldnt take that long.  After asking the waitress what was going on the manger shows up with the burger which was NOT supposed to have cheese on it but did and apologizes saying the kitchen missed the ticket somehow.  Oh and they are out of the mussels.  They really were not that busy to miss a ticket.   He did not offer to comp the check but asked hey what can I do for you.  We told him to take the food back and we were leaving.  The waitress as kind of enough to come by the table and inform us she took care of our drinks and we had no check.

This is a local bar with a great tap selection. I just stopped in for some beers from the beach. The place looked very clean and the service was prompt and friendly. Granted there were only about 8 people in the place when I stopped in but nonetheless I enjoyed it. I did not eat any food. If you want a great selection of beer, I would definitely recommend you check this place out.

This place has a nice setup inside and the atmosphere is great to watch some sports.  The service was great (except it did take a little while to get menus).  Other than that, we had a great time here.  The food was excellent.  We split an order of chicken wings, which were pretty awesome.  The drinks here were nice and cold and the dinner was great as well.  All around we had a great time at this bar.  It was one of the only places open when we visited the area.  The only downfall was being rushed out so they could use our table for beer pong.

Beer = happiness :)  Went here twice while staying around the corner. First experience was great.

I found this craft beer bar by accident, after checking in to Epicure about a block away. I saw the name "Goodnight Irene's" come up on foursquare. I was intrigued and decided to Google it. A craft beer fan, I couldn't believe that I had never been to this bar. The selection sounded amazing!

Let me begin by saying that dining here was probably one of the worst and frustrating dining experiences I have ever had...

Having said that, I heard this place had a great beer menu, so my fiends and I checked it out. After going there twice (the first time was bad, but we figured it might have been an off night or something. We figured we'd give it another shot as we wanted to try more of the beer selections), The beer is the only saving grace of this terrible excuse for a restaurant.

The service was HORRIBLE... in every way. I am not exaggerating when I say 3 small pizzas took an hour and twenty minutes. Our server was AWFUL.. the first time we came, the server we had was just not that good, but the 2nd time we came, our server had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.. and I am a server and like to give my fellow brothers and sisters the benefit of the doubt, but in her case, there was nothing even so much as  satisfactory to mention about her service.

We will never go back there and will recommend friends and family to do the same. If the management/owners are so out of touch with their business/livelihood as to not realize how substandard their workers are, both front of the house, and back of the house, then there is no good reason to spend my money there. Two DISAPPOINTED THUMBS DOWN..

I'm what you would call a regular here. I am posting this in the hope that the owners read this and act accordingly. First, great beer selection and pizza, which is driving the three stars. I have also had the cheesesteak which isn't bad either. Although, there is an opportunity to elevate the food overall

The downside, the cleanliness has gone down hill. Bartenders don't wipe the bar or clean up thoroughly. Even the cleanliness of the glasses needs work, i have on more than one occasion wanted to bring my own.
The bar stools are falling apart. And leaking ductwork dripping on you is no fun either. A little capital investment and staff training is desperately needed.

This place has a fantastic selection of handles; I counted about 30.  They also had local selections from Cape May Brewing Company, which is rare, which is also why I came.  The is bar large and relatively open.  It has so much potential, but...

I would have liked to review the food as I went there for lunch, but I wasn't able to get foot.  After asking for a menu, I waited ten minutes to get one.  After getting a menu, no one bothered to take my order, despite my attempts to flag down a server, for a half an hour.  The place wasn't even busy, there were 3 servers and 15 patrons.  For whatever reason they just didn't seem to want to serve us.  At the half hour mark, I left my money on the bar and left without anyone taking my order.  I wonder if I had waited more for food, would it ever have come?

Additionally, the bar was very dirty, which doesn't work well in a beach town.

I won't be back, which is too bad, since they had a nice selection of beers and decent prices.

First let me say that this has been one of my favorite bars in WW.  A great draft list and a good brick oven pizza.  Lately though, Irene's has been heading in the wrong direction.  Last nights rain found the ceiling leaking in the bar area and a puddle of water on a bar seat.  Finding seats at the bar, after a fair amount of waiting we ordered a couple of beers but the bar was so sticky that I had to find a bar rag to wipe it down.  The AC can't seem to keep the place cool and the service, except for the beer guy, was lacking.  The pizza, usually a competent staple, seems to have gotten thinner while losing its flavor.
Rain kept us off the patio bar which still isn't finished.
Overall Irene's has lost its simmer.  Poor service and a general sloppiness in a vacation town with so many options won't bode well for a long run at Goodnight Irene's.
Improve your service and clean the place up.  You'll get another chance to shine before Labor Day.

    Pizza - yum!

Spinach and artichoke dip - yuck!

Lots of beers on Tap and I really enjoyed the ommegang witte for a nice Belgium white. Went here twice while staying around the corner. First experience was great, second was just so so. I think it really depends on what time you get there. The service seems to be extremely slow when you're sitting at the tables, but sitting a the bar wasn't horrible. I haven't tried the outside area, which looks nice, but they don't have the same draft offerings as they do inside, so if you want something other than bud light you have to keep coming inside to order one of the specialty drafts.

**This review is based solely on bar, not food, service.**

My boyfriend and I headed over and were happy to find that Goodnight Irene's has its own small parking lot. We arrived at about 4:30 so the bar wasn't too crowded. Because we had my dog in tow, I was hoping we could bring her with us to the outdoor beer garden.

Both of us were so pleased with the beer selection, and I was happy to see local brewery Cape May Brewing Company represented! However, once we decided on our beers, it took us forever to get the bartender to pay attention to us. She was not busy by any means but seemed to be preoccupied with the cash register. Finally, after waiting about 10 minutes, we got our beers and asked if we could sit outside. She said the outdoor patio would open in five minutes.

Once outside, we found a new bartender, who was just setting up her station, to be much more friendly and accommodating. She let me bring my dog to sit with us on the outdoor patio and was chatting with us pleasantly. It was very peaceful to relax outside with a beer, but I imagine this place gets crowded at night.

Overall, I would give this place 10 stars for beer selection if I could. The service, however, was lacking. Definitely coming back if in this neighborhood again.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because the food was good. The service on the other hand was appalling.

Decided to go here with three girlfriends after hearing great reviews from a friend. Greeted by the hostess who sat us down at a table directly in front of the entrance, it was pretty crammed and seemed like we were in the way. Not my favorite, but not a huge deal. Our waitress took about 15-20 minutes to come over to the table, when she did I would have preferred she didn't come over at all. She was extremely rude, didn't introduce herself and left as soon as she wrote down the last drink order.

While waiting another 10 minutes for our drinks (2 beers, 2 ciders) we noticed the person next to us pulling something out of his draft. I asked if it was a bug, he said he didn't know what it was but that it looked like some type of alien life form. Gross. Our drinks came, along with the waters we ordered. She gave us a pitcher and threw some plastic cups on the table. 15 minutes later she took our food order and ran away again.
When our food eventually came out we had to ask for ketchup, sauce that was supposed to come with one of the meals, napkins, salt and utensils. My food took about 5 minutes longer to come out and the APPETIZER we ordered came out after all of our meals were already there. The food was pretty good (I got the brick oven pizza) and they gave pretty big portions. We asked for a box (another 10 minutes) but it was too small to fit the sandwich. Our lovely waitress never once checked on us and when we finally asked for the check she had one of the busboys bring it over.  At this point I just wanted to get the hell outta there. Goodnight, Irene.

I will start off by saying that I would have given this place 4 stars, but the service was terrible.  I will point out though that it was not the servers fault.  The place was fairly busy, and she just did not have time to serve all of her tables properly.  The place needs more staff, if the service could be fixed then I could see giving it 5 stars.  I was a waiter for 10 years and I have seen some bad servers. This was possibly the slowest service I have ever experienced in my life, and I have experienced some pretty slow service in wildwood over the years.

The food itself was pretty good, and the beer selection was outstanding.  We came in with a party of 5 and had about 3 beers each, plus appetizers and dinner.  For an appetizer we ordered Nachos with chicken and Buffalo wings.  The nachos were a little dry, but still tasty.  The wings were awesome, crispy and plenty of sauce.  For dinner 4 of us ordered pizza (a little bigger than personal pan, but still good for one person) and the other person ordered a burger.  All the pizzas were great, especially the margarita.  The burger was not that good, but I don't think they are known for their burgers, mostly pizza and beer.

Another problem was the table in which we sat.  The bottom was broken, so every time someone (from any side) leaned on it the table would shift dramatically.  This caused a fair amount of our precious beer to spill all over the table!  The table was one of the few booths in the place, so I feel like it would be in high demand and should be fixed.

The last problem was one of the bartenders.  My mother ordered a lemon drop martini which she described as pure vodka with no lemon taste.  No problem it happens, so she just decided to order a beer.  Our server did not appear for a good 20 minutes, so eventually I just took the drink up to the bar to ask for the beer.  The bartender immediately gave me an attitude and acted skeptical when I told him she didn't like it.  I said it's not a big deal, can she just have something else instead?  He said that it would be an up charge (even though the beer was much cheaper). I don't understand why he would act like it was a huge hassle, none of the martini has been consumed and we weren't mad, we just wanted something else.

This place has a lot of potential, a good menu, great beer, and fun atmosphere.  However, without massive improvements to the staff (aka more) we won't be back.

Upon entering on my last visit i was immediately greeted with a frantic hostess telling me " Look heres the deal, we are extremely busy and we just sat alot of parties so i will sit you and give your drinks but your gonna have to wait to get your food"

While i appreciate the honesty i really don't care if they are busy. Its a Friday night in the middle of the summer. You should have the appropriate amount of kitchen staff on to handle the busy summer rush. I am a chef and would never in a million years let anyone know that we were too busy to serve people food. With a trained wait staff that knows how to stagger seating and placing orders it should have never been a problem.

The next problem was it took a server approximately 10 minutes to take our drink orders. During this 10 minutes i saw a couple of servers just leaning against the counter talking to the pizza boy. Must not have been that busy.

Me and my girl ordered the nachos for an appetizer and a burger for each of us. The nachos were pretty good although serving them on top of aluminum foil was pretty tacky. The burgers were another story. They will not cook your burger to your desired temperature. I was asked if i would like a little pink or no pink. This should have been my first sign not to get a burger that was sure to be overcooked but i was courageous and asked for as much pink as possible. Burger comes out and all well done and not a single grain of seasoning on it :( :(.

What is driving the 3 stars on this review is the beer selection. If you want any kind of craft brew in wildwood this is your only choice that i know of. There is a giant chalk board that lists their drafts in alphabetical order. Its a diverse list boasting some nice Belgium ales, California micro brews, and local icons like flying fish, cape may brewery, and victory.

Ive had the pizza here before and the pizza is legit. I would recommend sitting at the outside bar and enjoying a pizza and beer. Stay away from their normal menu.

Good beer selection, horrible service.  Great place if you like attitude from every employee you have to encounter, and if you have a lot of time to spare.  Miserable waitress added an extra $4 to her tip on the credit card slip, which is illegal.

The positive is they do have some craft beers including some NJ beers, and the beer prices are reasonable. they have about 30 beers on tap, although most are major name brands. the negatives are that this is basically a dive bar, not clean or neat, the bathroom included, and that the crowd  on a Saturday night  seemed to be a mixture of townie regulars who didn't look at all interested in talking to outsiders and a large number of just barely over 21 folks who kinda seemed like they probably consider anyone over about 27 to be a senior citizen and who seemed to be focused on the groups they came with..  the bartenders looked  in general depressed and in general unenthusiastic. my bartender, a youngish woman with a South Jersey accent so thick I was on the verge of requesting a translate, actually was helpful and somewhat willing to answer questions about the beers once I got her attention.. so I guess given that Wildwood is not probably full of bars that offer microbrews, if you are with friends and want to go chat somewhere, this might be OK. but not a good place to meet people , a rather depressing environment with rather grumpy depressed staff, and given how divey/dirty it is I would personally be rather reluctant about actually eating any food here..

Every time we visit Wildwood since this place has opened, we eat here.    It's a good shore place for decent bar food and good drinks.

I had a pizza the last time and it was really good.  Also, tried a crab cake sandwich and it was good too.

I've never been there when it was packed so not sure how that changes quality and service but we'll definitely keep coming back.

I experienced the worst service of my life tonight. We arrived early and were one of 3 tables. It took over 15 minutes to get water, and 20 minutes after ordering to receive our fries. 45 minutes after ordering our order arrived wrong and the server acted like it was our fault. It then took them another 20 minutes to bring the correct dishes to our table. The server was not at all apologetic, in fact she seemed oblivious.

When we asked to see a manager, we were told one was not available and that our server was new. Clearly they need to invest in better training for their waitstaff! At no point did anyone apologize for the wait, mixed up order, or poor service. It seemed that every table around us had similar experiences.

Once we went outside, we saw what appeared to be cooks and waitstaff outside drinking and smoking. Well, no wonder it took us nearly 2 hours to eat a subpar meal!

I will never return to this place, there are far too many good restaurants and bars down the shore!!

I've been to Good Night Irene's twice, once in the summer and once over the winter. For me, the highlight of the place is the great selection of draft beers. The food was ok. Of all of the food I've ordered there, the wings were the only item I thought was really any good. We've had the chicken fingers and nachos also, both were average at best. The service is also not so great. When I visited in the busy season, three out of the four items we ordered were wrong. We didn't correct the mistake because it took so long to get the food we were just happy to eat. When I went in the winter the service was still slow. I sat at the bar and it took nearly half an hour to place a food order and then another 35 minutes for the food to arrive. I should mention that it gets incredibly loud in the restaurant during busy periods and even not so busy periods. ,Some soundproofing might help. All in all, good place to go for beer, but eat somewhere else first!

Decent draft beer selection and that's about it.  Trying to get one of those decent draft beers is another story.  ONE bartender to handle the bar, serve food, handle the tables, handle the outside eating area, all while there were other employees (at least I thought they were) milling about.  We ordered a selection of bar food and was far from impressed.  Even the bar pie was so-so and that's supposed to be their big claim to fame!  Wasn't impressed by how the place was kept.  When you sit down at the bar and it's sticky, it kind of tells you how well they clean it.  Wonder how the rest of the place is cleaned.  Had to return one beer because of the small but very intact, dead millipede in the bottom of my beer.  Didn't catch it until near the end of the glass, the dangers of having a dark beer in this place.  When I pointed it out to the bartender, she honestly looked at me and said, "I didn't put it there!"  No kidding, Sherlock.  I guess making sure the glass has been rinsed is not high on the list.  Will NOT be going back.  Decent beer selection or not.  Plenty of other establishments around town that offer much better.

Best draft selection I have run into in the area.  Townie patrons and somewhat stiff bartender do not lend themselves to getting folks to drive from the Boardwalk.  Was not a welcoming atmosphere for a place that I would think would have to be a bit of a regional draw. Buffalo fingers were pretty good, seemed to be a cornflakes batter.

Yards stout and Imperial Porter were good.

Why bother to have a good draft selection if all you want to come is the same folks you already have.

You can get some decent bar food here; honestly, the salads were good too.  The real attraction, for me at least, is the awesome selection of craft beer in a shore town.  The bartender, Justin, was also helpful, funny and knew his stuff.  This is a great place to enjoy a relaxed, casual dinner if beer is your drink of choice.

I will absolutely never go here again!

I recently bought a house on 24th street (walking distance to Irene's), so decided to check this place out.  I don't know what Roberson is talking about regarding the "huge" beer selection.  There is one small wall (the whole place is small) of beers, mostly the standard yuengling, blue moon, miller, etc.  There were no cool micro brews - really disappointing.  To make things worse, the bartender had no knowledge of any of the beers.  He actually got quite rude when I asked him a question.  The place is a dive bar...you would expect at least some customer service.

If you are looking to meet people, this is not the place.  It is mostly locals who can't afford the cooler places in Wildwood.  Not a crowd I would want to be seen with.

The place is a dump, extremely dirty and no atmosphere.

I think it is a fairly bold statement to say that I will never return to this bar as it is one of the closest to my house and within walking distance, but it really is that bad.

Don't waste your time - there are plenty of other places in Wildwood.

a few weeks ago i went down the shore to escape for a weekend. i was extremely excited when the innkeeper told me about the beer selection at irene's, and it was in walking distance from the inn.

i was quickly disappointed by the lack of knowledge of the staff about the beer selection. it is definitely no Local 44 (located in philly) where every staff person you ask about a beer can gladly describe it or get another staff person who can describe it. i like many different types of beer, but am not familiar with every brewery's selection/types.

the place was not crowded when i arrived and sat down at the bar. the girl behind the bar was sweet, but did not know anything about their extensive list of beers. she was correct in recommending the mango chicken sandwich - it was tasty. when she asked for help in describing the beers from another bartender (i think he was canadian) he was abrupt and rude. the third bartender never even bother do come over and assist. (he appeared to be in charge.)

by the time i left, the place was getting crowded and loud. the dj wasn't that great, but i guess in march in wildwood... beggars can't be choosers...

i would only recommend this place if you already know beers inside and out and do not need help in ordering from their beer selection. and may be their patio is nice in the summer time...

(also, the owners were there drinking, but only interacting with their friends. one would think you do a little glad handing to keep your new patrons happy and engaged...)

They have a HUGE selection of beers on tap (only one of which is Miller Light). Went there on NEw years eve afternoon and had Stone IPA, Double Bastard Ale, and Red Nectar. If you are in to good beer there is no other place in Wildwood like it. I have never tried the food so I can't comment on it. It looked good though!

When reviewing this place I needed to consider it's competition and the other bars in the area.  This is the one of the only bars I know of in the Wildwood area with such a large beer selection.

I found this place by asking around and a Wildwood local where I could find really good beer at decent prices (hard to find considering the vacation atmosphere).  Good Irene's was the first place that came to his mind.

Great beers on tap for sure.  Prices weren't bad at all either.  I believe I paid about $5.50 (give or take a quarter) for Stone IPA.

Food on the other hand, I wasn't all that impressed with.  I got boneless buffalo chicken fingers and they were no better than something I could have gotten at Wendy's.  A few others that I was there with got some other appetizers but none of them come to mind.

Bottom line: Go for the beer (great microbrews on tap), not the food.  One less star because of the food only.

We went there this past Monday, Memorial day.  Let me just say that last summer we loved this place.  Things have changed.  They changed the menu, and we were one of two tables in the entire place and waited almost 45 minutes for hard as a rock buffalo chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches and a hamburger.  really?  I can see being backed up when the place is full.  This is really the second time since Easter we've experienced this and we won't be going back anymore.
