Like the blues? Â Like beer? Â Like dark bars? Â Then you'll probably like the Dell.
The Dell is a great place to listen to the blues live. Â On Thursday night it's jam night, Friday and Saturday are band nights. Â There's no cover and on the Saturday night we were there, there was no problem getting a table. Â From what I understand it does get pretty packed though on Jam Night. Â Wanna play some games? Â Shuffleboard and darts to the rescue.
Another good reason to visit on Saturday night? Â All you can eat BBQ at $10.00 a plate. Â Help yourself to BBQ'ed tri-tip, chicken, potato salad, green salad and rolls. Â It might not be fine dining but it's decent. Â Plus all that food will help absorb the alcohol you're about to consume. Â They also have a regular menu if BBQ isn't your thing.
Ambiance wise, well the Dell hovers on the verge of "dive bar-ness". Â It's clean, it's well-lit but there are no windows and a number of the regulars are rather ... grizzled. Â There's only one stall in the ladies room so girls, don't be drinkin' all that beer and waiting until the last moment to go. Â That's how accidents happen.
Although they have a full bar you'll probably want to stick with beer, wine or simple cocktails. Â Incredibly nice as the bartenders might be, they sort of flounder with anything more difficult than a scotch and soda.
Also, it's cash only for any purchase under $15.00. Â There's an ATM on-site but still, it's a hassle. Â Which is why The Dell gets 4 stars instead of 5.
Ambiance was satisfactory..Decent music. Shuffleboard..$16 Prime Rib fit the bill. But $11 for a pint of Guiness, that's unforgiveable..Between my friend and I, we racked up a $90 tab for two drinks and dinner..At that rate, might as well go into Los Gatos and at least get moneys worth.
Review Source:Best kept secret in Campbell!!
We took my Dad here for his birthday recently and I wish I could give 10 stars.
Parking - great parking lot or on the nearby street
Food - we went for the $10 bbq on Sat night. Let me just say, they could easily charge more for this. It's that good. The chicken, tri-tip, potato salad and regular salad were amazing. Â Seriously..go there for this and thank them all for making you food.
Music - SO good. Minus some small sound issues, it's a great place for live blues.
We arrived early.. 6:30 and grabbed a table. Food was served promptly at 7pm and the music started promptly at 8. Â The bar filled up fast as it is a pretty small inside.
The crowd is great. Locals, diverse and not a lot of riff raff. Just people who enjoy great music and a great hidden location.
Guinness on tap.
Two HUGE thumbs up! Â I can't wait to go again.
Housed in a nondescript building in an industrial area of Campbell is a fabulous gem.
Quite the opposite of the trendy bars and restaurants in Santana Row. Come here to relax, enjoy a great meal, fun company and good live music.
Saturday nights, they have all you can eat BBQ tri-tip at $10 per person. Come early to partake as they have a tendency to run out early. Â Stay for entertainment - they draw blues bands from all over.
No cover charge for the entertainment and I love that they have a security patrol in the parking lot.
We were lured to the Grand Dell Saloon for the first time a couple of weeks ago when Jinx Jones played there on a Friday night. It was a bit of a haul from the East Bay, but took no longer than one of our our semi-frequent drives to SF or Sonoma County for entertainment, and was definitely worth it. The music was great (of course), but we were pleasantly surprised that we very much liked the venue, the dance floor, the friendly crowd, the fine drinks, the tasty food, and the attentive bartenders! It turned into one of those "we almost didn't go, but we're so glad we did" nights. We even danced a few. They have an impressive music calendar, so I'm sure we'll be back.
Review Source:So today was my first time at this place we came for a surprise birthday breakfast. We pull up and my thoughts were wtf is this place? Who comes here? There's 3 cars in the parking lot and they have to be the workers. It looks like a place on wrong turn an abandon place that u walk in and ask for directions then don't come out haha.
Well I was wrong, this is by far the best breakfast I had. The bartender was super nice we had bloody Mary's soo good and I had bad experiences with those I was scared to try again. The food was absolutely amazing eggs over medium with bacon, potatoes n toast. Only complaint was next time I want more potatoes lol and the chef said next time just ask :). The staff was super nice from the waitress, bartender, cook and the owner himself. I will make the time to come here at least once a month, and I recommend everyone try this place out.
Yelp says 4-stars is "Yay! I'm a fan." and that doesn't really describe my experience at the Grand Dell Saloon. However, as a girl in her early 30s, I also don't think I am the audience that this bar was aiming to please so while I am not going to hate on this spot, it wasn't for me.
The bar had a live band playing on Friday night. There was no cover which is always a plus in my book. But the band was so loud that I could barely hear the person yelling into my ear, thus conversing was limited. And the music ranged in decades but never got newer than the 80s, which was probably fine with the crowd of fans who were dancing and swaying along to the music. This place was happening!
The drinks were delicious, the bartenders were reasonably timely given the crowd, but the drinks aren't anything special and the prices are about the same as they are downtown unless I missed a late night special.
Transportation would be difficult unless you have a ride, so be careful and pick a DD before showing up. I like to frequent bars where I feel safe walking the streets to catch a bus, and I was a little intimidated by the industrial setting.
Overall, an average bar with a lot of local fans. However, I am probably not going out of my way to come back, at least for another ten years when I will better fit the demographic.
Though I dont drink anymore The Grand Dell has much more to offer,Great hamburgers and prime rib with bake potato. Thursday night jam is the best and Saturday live music and BBQ chicken and tri tip all you can eat cant be beat.Great place right in Campbell.Support live music and great food.
Review Source:off the hook good music, great food at the "all you can eat BBQ" on Saturday nights.
And there's Guiness on tap. Mellow older crowd, mix of younger people. The fact that it's out of the way keeps the riff raff out too.
So if you just want a no nonsense good time, with good people and great music/food... this is the place.
Great music, great food, reasonable prices. Â The bands they get have all been good and the Thursday night jams are such great events. Â On Saturday evenings they have a BBQ buffet which, bang for the buck cannot be beat. Â On the evenings they have bard food, while the choices are few the few is great! Â
Nice place to go in the evenings, have a drink or two, some nice live Blues and relax. Â If you did not know the place was there, you might never find it. Â I drove past it hundreds of times until we discovered the place. Â Some folks claim it is an "older" crowd, well, maybe it is filled with people who can appreciate the music? Â
So, if you like the Blues and music @ JJ's, you will ike this place and they have food!
Enjoy
Grand Dell Saloon offers a good burger, but service is not the best there. Â I know that the lady waiting on tables was busy when I visited, but would it kill her to take more than five seconds to wait while a customer places his/her order? Â When I was ready to order, the very instant that she took my order, she turned to walk away without allowing me to ask any questions or to make any requests. Â Thankfully, I was sitting right next to where she was submitting her orders, so I could engage her in conversation with her back turned to me. Â She was efficient, I will give her that, but she was not the most gracious gal around.
I felt bad when I asked the gal on the cash if she had rung in my order correctly as an amount much lower than what I should have gotten back in change appeared on her cash register/till. Â It turned out that she only rung up my food, but not my drink, and that was the total that appeared on her cash register/till (not the amount of change that should be returned to me). Â Odd, but whatever. Â
Anyway, she thoughtfully broke up my change so I could tip the waitress, but she did not tell me that she was doing so, so all I saw was a fin, a few singles and some coins where I had expected to get back a ten spot and some coins. Â She was right in the end, and I felt kind of bad about asking her what the $8.10 was on her till and pointing at what I thought was $8.10 in front of me. Â My mistake, my friend. Â I am terribly sorry about that. Â I think that one of the regulars sitting at the bar was ready to slap me up the side of the head when I asked about my change. Â I got a weird vibe from him.
There is no Irish breakfast anymore, so you will have to get your rasher fix somewhere else.
Credit cards are accepted with a $15 minimum charge. Â Otherwise, you will have to settle your bill in cash. Â There is a white machine ATM somewhere on the premises, I believe, but you will no doubt get dinged with a convenience fee for using it.
This is my absolute favorite dive bar. The regulars are down-right friendly. The bartenders are on their game. Happy Hours are so so very happy. The live blues music on Thursdays is awesome. And the buffets rock! Â The food is yummy, especially breakfast. Lots of parking, and conveniently located near San Tomas Expressway/17.
Review Source:Heard about this place from friends who came by a few weeks ago and it lived up to everything they had to say about it. Â $10 BBQ wasn't second rate food at all, in fact, it puts many of the BBQ restaurants to shame imho. Â Good food, good live music and a suffleboard table to boot! Only complaint was the waitress was initially a little slow on getting out drink order out to us and picking up on the cues I was still thirsty after the first round. Otherwise, this is a place on my list to drop by often.
Review Source:What a hidden treasure, awesome staff, no 'attitude' from the locals...everyone get's a warm welcome.
GREAT Guinness too...and thats a tough one to get right.
We happened in on a Tuesday night a couple of months ago & there was a Dj called Sean playing some really cool music, everything from Sinatra to The Pogues!!
In fact...we have been back every week since...can't recommend it enough.
HUGE parking lot right outside as well.

Tucked in the middle of semi industrial Campell. Â Would not know its here unless you came a looking. Â Â I came to meet some friends after work. Â Nice place to hang out and listen to some live music. Â Went there on a Thursday night and a blues band was playing. Â Lots of TVs to watch the baseball game. Â Bartenders and regulars are a mixed local crowd, but relaxed. Â
Place is just a great basic bar. Â Cheap drinks, cold draft beer, good live music. Â Could use more draft beer. Â Just fun.
I have now been to the place twice for a Meetup event. Â The music is very loud. Â So loud that it is very difficult for one person to hear another person. Â That is, when the band is playing. Â A good example was last night when the jazz group was performing their songs.
Unfortunately, there was a downside. Â The one waitress of the place seemed to be in such a crappy mood. Â Did not hand me a menu this time.
Will not return, unless something amazing pops up.
If it weren't so far out of the way, this is the place I'd go to do my drinking. There's music, but it isn't loud. There's a crowd, but they're regulars, they're fun, and they're chill. There's stiff drinks for cheap prices. This is an ideal bar if you just want to go, have your drink, and not have to put up with throngs of obnoxious loud crowds, thumping music, or pretentious staff. I wish I could find more places like this.
Review Source:Here's the deal buckos, there is noplace with a better breakfast than the Grand Dell on Sunday in the English speaking world.
Grilled Tomato, Beans, Potatoes, Toast, Rasher Bacon, Irish snags (kind of like little bangers with a hint of correander) Eggs, Black Pudding, White Pudding for $10.00 That's less than half the price of the lower quality Irish Brekkies in 'frisco.
They usually have brown sauce and Marmalade...even a few assorted hot sauces, and Sierra or Guinness.
If you like Fry-ups, this is the spot for you my young friends, this is the spot for you.
