I can't believe someone else on Yelp has been here.  Grill 77 is in a tiny no stop light town off 35 near Turner Falls.  A co-worker and I were heading back from Oklahoma after some work and took the next exit because we were hungry.  We just kept going until we found a place to eat, which was more difficult than we thought.  The first two places were closed and it was 1:00pm.  So we lowered our expectations...the first one that is opened...that was Grill 77.

This place is in what seemed to be a house on the side of the road; a bunch of white plastic siding and a front door.  When we walked in it was like a scene from the Three Amigos.  Everyone turns and looks at us and we were pegged...foreigners.  Everyone seemed to know each other.  We grabbed a seat at the grill bar and both order a tall tea and cheese burgers.  The burgers were great but we should have gone for the daily special, chicken and rice or meat loaf.  Grill 77 is straight up family home cooking.  After talking to the waitress, who was dressed from head to toe in o.u. apparel, the restaurant is ran by a group of long time friends.  It's only opened for breakfast and lunch because the ladies have to be home to cook dinner...that's what we were told.

The next day we were headed back to Oklahoma so we stopped in for breakfast this time.  We had the same waitress but this time she was dressed in the local high schools football team apparel, head to toe.  We both ordered a simple breakfast, nothing special but it was very good.  The food is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination, but it's prepared and served by friends for their friends and family.

Our morning trip was the best of the two visits.  Sitting at breakfast long enough I began to believe that Grill 77 is the town hall of Davis, OK.  We were having breakfast with the high school football coach, the sheriff, two medics, two school teachers, firemen and three high school football players, and as each person left they told the players to have a great game...after that I would have sworn the local high school was West Canaan Coyotes.

Every time I head up 35 north to Oklahoma I will be stopping Davis for some home made breakfast or a burger.  I don't know if I agree with Jason U. that it's worth the trip from Dallas, but it would be great to have more places like this in Dallas.
