Ok, my nickname may be MamaCAKES but the girl loves these fried pies!! My sister lives in Norman and this is a required pit stop on our road trips from Dallas. Btw, I'm eating a fried apple pie as I write this! I was smart enough to stash one from out return trip today for a 3 am (yes I said a.m.!!) snack at work!!  I haven't had the savory pies but I've pretty much tasted all the sweet flavors. Apple, peach and cherry rock.  The coconut is amazing but sooooo sweet I can only eat a lil. The crust is flaky and not greasy at all. The pies are large and easily split. The shop is an old Sinclair gas station with a dinosaur on top. Today I noticed Mr Sinclair has been joined by a giant rooster! Bizarre and I love it!!

HOLY CRAP, this place makes good little pies.  If you like pie AT ALL, you need to stop here.  I ordered a peach pie around brunch time.  I was worried it would be greasy and heavy due to the fried nature of the snack.  I am happy to report that it wasn't that greasy or heavy! It was so delicious, so un-greasy and and un-heavy, that I wolfed my first pie in about 1 minute. After that, I proceeded to order a cherry pie.  I ate several bites, and though it was delicious, but I really had to save the rest for later.  I was full!

Tip- if going N on I-35, be sure to turn left when you exit exit 51. I was blind as a bat and had us all the way down the street on the other side. Lol

Now about these famed original fried pies. I think these are the kinda thing that are either yours or they're not. We saw a lot of people come in and out ordering individual pies, several pies, or boxes of pies in the 20 minutes we were there. Just goes to show that the locals enjoy the pies so you never know, you might too.

For our group, the pies were good but didn't blow us away.  The crust was flaky and the fillings sufficient,  but there were a few things that didn't go over so well with us. The pie crust was on the sweet side. Sometimes that works but for the savory pies (we got a spinach and mushroom pie, two bacon and egg pies, and one apple pie) we would have preferred the crust to be non-sweet. Also for the bacon and eggs pie, the filling was gooier than we expected and the bits of bacon were tiny. I will say this--the pies we got came out fresh and hot which we appreciated.  The three of us each had a pie and then split an apple one and were satisfied.  The apple pie was our favorite. We also really enjoyed our frozen cappuccinos.  There's one size and it looks like a medium. Perfect complement to a fried pie. Price is also good and one pie is filling. Pies are 3.99 ea. They carry a good variety of pies too.

The staff was okay.  They weren't the friendliest and really only spoke if they had to. Honestly you don't have to even carry a full fledged conversation. A smile or two would be nice.

The  inside of the shop was outdated but it also doesn't look like anyone dines in so I suppose it doesn't matter tremendously...
