The Grotto

This is like the bar on Cheers, only for Rolla college students. A wide range of beers on tap and priced very reasonably. The smoking ban was noticeably hard on this business. Busiest late nights when school in session. A great place to meet and pound a couple beers with your friends.

With all the newer bars in the downtown area, is the Grotto still in business? Does anyone go anymore? It was fun when it was the only place to go, but I have been there for ages? Anyone go there recently?

I like this bar mainly because it is the only true college bar in Rolla.  It has a drinktastic atmosphere and the music selection is actually one of my favorites of any bar.  My only complaint is that on certain days, like the 1$ well nights, the bar gets so crowded that it has taken me 20+ mins or so just to get a drink.  It sometimes makes their cheap drinks not worth it, but the key word is sometimes.  It wouldn't be such a problem if they had more than a couple bartenders working at a time.
