Grump's Bar & Grill

This is a brand new restaurant that opened less than a month ago on the edge of Lake Somerville inside the Big Creek Resort Marina & Campgrounds.    Indoor (air conditioned) counter seating is inside the also new grocery store and it also has outside seating on the lake, both with lake views.    

The location is at the end of Texas State Recreational Park Road #4 in Lyons Texas aka Lake Somerville Texas.  

On Saturday it was hot as blazes so after placing our order inside, having a beer on the outside deck, we migrated back inside where it was cooler.    The burgers and fries (see photos) were grand slams!  All ingredients were farm fresh and delicious, the beef obviously local fresh was slightly seasoned with something that made the burgers unique.  I actually do know what spice they are using but have not been able to put my finger on it.    The bread was so fresh that you could see your fingerprints in it (well, almost, you know what I mean) and the burgers juicy and satisfying.   The fries were unique and had a light batter, hot and crispy and impossible to stop eating.   We will go back just for the burgers.   Their menu also includes fresh salads and chicken sandwiches.  

To place your order you just do that at the counter.  You can add drinks such as their several types of slushies, or sodas (or beer) in bottles or cans which you pick up yourself in the grocery store at the cooler by the restaurant counter.   When your order is done, they find you by sight and either bring it to you or yell "Order up! and point at you".      We had a great time and loved the food.  Fantastic to find a new burger place like this just up the street (University aka Hiway 60) from Texas A & M University at College Station.

(Tip - When entering the resort it normally costs $3 per car.   Just let them know you are coming to eat at Grump's).
