Had the steak sandwich tonight, best steak sandwich Ive ever had! The bread was nothing to talk about BUT the steak was tender and juicy and FULL of flavor & a very good portion of meat!! & the mozzarella cheese was fresh & yummm. The fries were not salted and made them bland. Good choice of pickles they had on the side. & for $9.99 its a steal!!

This was a very pleasant change from the burgers I usually eat there, I definitely recommend the burgers, fresh big and juicy!  Excellent food and prices!

ps called about the bread, because the menu said it came on homemade 'garlic bread' the manger said that they spread garlic butter on the hoagie roll and toast it, so really its not homemade garlic bread. I did not taste any garlic on the bread & the roll was too much bread. BUT again the steak was very delicious & tender!

The best!  Not JUST a bar, but a great split of rest. & bar.  Bar 1st - full bar with REAL bartenders, a TON of great drinks, yet a nice familiar beer-drinking feel to it.  Staff is really friendly...and willing to help.  There is a covered patio outside for the smokers, you can eat out there too, there are tables, but I dont believe you get a server if you sit out there.  Rest 2nd - decent sized menu, and great burgers.  Staff is really friendly.  There is a larger room upstairs that can accommodate larger parties.  I held a birthday party up there - about 35 ppl, it was nice, separate, yet we never lacked for service.  Burger specials on Weds (forgot the prices, but I recall it being really fair)...not sure about any other daily specials, but a place worth checking out in the PJ area.  Off the beaten path of Main St., walking distance to the LIRR and taxi stand.

This place is consistently SOLID! The owner, Jack, is far from grumpy,  he's a great, friendly guy who runs a wonderful neighborhood bar, complete with cold beer, friendly faces & wonderful bar food.  I suggest the pierogies, burgers, shepards pie,  fish sandwhich & above all else the wings! Order them extra crispy & dig in.  Tuesdays is 2 for 1 wings. Grab an ice cold beer & dig in!!

My father and I visited for lunch today and had absolutely horrible service and food. I ordered the burger with cheese and hot sauce... it had no seasoning and no hot sauce. When I asked for hot sauce on the side I was given some weird liquid sweet dressing that the server swore was hot sauce. I took two bites of the burger and could not finish it. My dad ordered the sampler and a soup... the sampler was fine minus the clams and he never received his soup. Yet, we were still charged for the soup and burger. We would have complained but it took too long to wait for the waitress to deal with that. Other tables also seemed frustrated with her and the food as well. The only good thing I have to say is the burger was cooked perfect, just no seasoning and super greasy.

We were enroute to the sushi joint next door-which was closed. Grumpy Jacks was hand. We had low expectations.

Turns out it's pretty good. Great burgers, extensive menu. They have shepards pie, and reasonably priced steaks- lots of pub food.

Service was great. We sat right near one of many big TVs.  Pretty good stuff.

Liked it a lot.   Going back for the steak.

This is my Friday happy hour spot and I am always very happy.  The bartenders are super friendly and they believe in buy-backs...I'm not sure what happened to buy-backs, but in my opinion, they're a great tradition that should make a strong come back!  Happy hour runs from 4-8 and offers half priced drinks, and some free food.  I usually order the perogies because they are ohhh soo yummy and you can't go wrong with the mozzarella sticks.  The wings are not buffalo, so don't go in expecting that.  I would say it's sort of like italian dressing, and if that sounds good to you then you should try them.  I've had some of the meals here and have always been happy, but I really go here for beer and apps...so see ya there on Friday!

Not a bad place to watch a game since they have a bunch of TVs and the food is alright. The biggest problem I have encountered here is the service. I have been here four times in the last few months and everytime I have wondered why the service is so subpar. The waiters come by infrequently, making it hard to get a refill on a soda or order another beer. They have some decent specials which keeps me coming back, but the service is nothing to write home about.

    What happened to this place??

The food here used to be above average for a Sports Bar, but after this last time, I'm simply not eating there anymore.  The food is sloppily thrown together and always OVERLY salty - I understand that they get busy, but it's like they just don't care at all.  I'll stick with the drinks and eat somewhere decent downport from now on.

Once I find a good pub, I keep going back for more.

    1. Excellent entrees (with great variety)

    2. Happy hour includes a self serve buffet, usually 2 trays off delicious food such as pasta and sausages, rice and beef etc.

    3. Excellent burgers especially their speciality ones on Wednesdays.

    4. It can get pretty crowded at the bar on a weekend night for a place not a lot of people have heard of.

Try it, you'll be comin' back for more.

Good pub food, a little noisy but fun at the same time.

    Really torn with this review.

The food is very good.  Great wings, good sandwiches.  Nice bar specials.

However, been very disappointed with the bill on two different occasions.  First time one of our guests asked for honey mustard on a wrap instead of mayo and another for a side of bbq sauce.  Two $.75 charges on the bill for the sauces.  While it's a insignificant amount of money, I felt it was a bit sneaky and 'cheap'.

Went back a few months later, only to be charged $4 a beer for 8 drinks for the table when the sign sitting right in front of us advertised the $2 beer special.  The waitress said "oh, the computer must not be updated".  Another $16 mis-charge if we hadn't payed close attention to the bill.

Maybe I got unlucky a few times, but stuff like that drives me crazy.

I must say I have lived in this area for a long time, and never even noticed this place.  It is set back on the road behind Tara Inn, right by the train station.  Meaning not on main st, back behind it all.  Yet it is very busy here!  Outside it looks like a typical dive place that one would go to to watch football and eat wings, but when you go inside you are pleasantly surprised. There is a small eating area that is surrounded by large LCD HDTVs  and they serve traditional English dishes like Sheppard's pie etc, while serving the usual bar fare.  The food was excellent.

I am not certain if they were aiming for an english pub theme here, but being someone who lived in England, I can tell you that it sure looks that way.  No this is no dive that claims to be some Irish pub, but yet doesn't even have a place to sit etc.  No this is a nice place adorned with nice carpeting, hardwood walls, wallpaper, nice lights etc. You name it.  Beautifully done.  They have a large bar on the first floor and another one upstairs that is not always open.  The bar is long, they serve a lot of tap beers, and they have genuine hardwood seats etc, just like in the UK.  Great place to watch games, they have a ton of TVs and a friendly atmosphere.

This place is apparently no secret as it has always been busy when I was there, but probably not known to most people in the area.  It is a clean place and very well done, and I am sure they will do just fine despite the off the beaten path location!
