THIS PLACE WILL BLOW YOUR @#$%ING MIND!! Seriously...it is a hole in the wall everyday small town tavern with the standard 4 beer domestic tap. It is kind of a drive from anywhere and the ribs are $18 and kind of a small portion. At first I was somewhat disappointed at the size...then I reached down to tear one off and it slid off the bone and I think I lost it when I actually put it in my mouth!! I ate two slabs there and bought two to take with me and some BBQ sauce.
Very limited menu, kind of a small place, but totally worth the drive!! Literally some of the best ribs I have ever had!!
It's quite a drive to get here from KC, but so worth it. Â Best ribs you will ever have, hands down. Â The ribs are served up on newspaper and wrapped in tin foil, so it's definitely a hole in the wall place, but that's right up my alley. Â The BBQ sauce is great too, not what I would normally like, it is more of a tomato base and I generally go for the sweeter sauces, but I smother the ribs with it.
They have a limited menu, but I'm not sure why you would go and get anything but the ribs anyway.
This place is all about the ribs --- and they are as good as it gets. Â We stop in every time we can when we're headed to or from KC on I-35. Â Just a mile or so off of I35 at the Williamsburg exit which is a little bit south of Ottawa. Â
We have typically been there for a late lunch on Saturdays and there is no crowd. Â Very friendly staff and very quick service. Â Cash only, but they have an ATM if you're like us and never carry cash.
Back to the main attraction -- the ribs. They are perfectly barbecued with just the right amount of seasoning and smoke. Â They are served dry, as good barbecue should be, so the flavor of the meat comes through. Â Honestly, I've never even tasted their BBQ sauce, because there's no need to. Â The meat falls right off the bone, but has good texture. Â
Again, the ribs are the main attraction here. Â The potato salad and cole slaw sides are pretty good. Â I would not recommend the beans. Â It's too bad that such a good BBQ joint serves what taste like Van Camp Pork and Beans, straight from the can.
This place is a must stop for us when we're driving by, and would be worth the drive to pick up some ribs to take back home with your own sides.
