Decided to go to an Auction in Eatonton.....Thought we would find a Mexican restaurant in Eatonton....but it looks like it went out of business. Â So just so happens Hanna's was right next door to the Auction. Â We were kind of in the mood for Mexican, but we sat down to eat at Hannah"s.....All I can say is GLAD WE DID!!!!!
Anyone who knows me or has read my reviews know that my wife is the consummate critic when it comes to Shrimp and Grits and low and behold Hannah's had that on the menu. Â She was thoroughly impressed and ranked Hannah's rendition right up there in the top 2 of all the shrimp and grits she has ever had.....and trust me on this she has had a lot of shrimp and grits!!!! Â Sometimes I wonder if she was in a serious accident if she wouldn't bleed Shrimp and Grits....She lives and breaths Shrimp and Grits!!!! Â
I opted for the stuffed chicken. Â It too was most excellent! Â It was served with some white corn and something that they called Savannah Red Rice.....very good!!!!
Not much of a dessert eater, but I have come to learn that if a meal is exceptional then it is a good sign that dessert is excellent as well so I opted for some Key Lime Pie. Â
It was fabulous!!! Â The crust was homemade and not too overpowering like some versions of Key Lime Pie are.
I'd would say if you happen to find yourself in Eatonton make sure you visit Hannah's, but the place is so damn good that I say just go to Eatonton for a great meal at a reasonable price!!!
Stumbled on this place on a family trip and what a pleasant surprise. We live in Atlanta now but I spent most of my life in Florida. These guys do fish tacos as good or better than anyone down there. The mahi was fresh and the flavors perfect. Chicken quesadilla app was good too. The atmosphere made us feel like we were in the keys, which is obviously the point. Well done, hannahs.
Review Source:First off, as a Californian, the surfing motif was kind of funny to me, but the atmosphere worked and felt like an "un-forced" version of those chains with all the mementos on the wall.
My in-laws took me there for the BLT w/ friend green tomatoes and I added some guacamole too. Â I love BLT's and this way delicious. Â Bacon was a little over done, but not enough to think about complaining or to ruin my meal. Â Service was quick and friendly and looking at the rest of the menu, there were plenty of tasty options to come back to next time I'm in Georgia.
I admit it. I was a skeptic when I read the stellar reviews that this place got. So that meant, I had to go! Â I think we've *finally* found an "Atlanta quality" dining establishment in Georgia yet outside of Atlanta!
The fried green tomatoes were quite the thing with an interesting twist on the breading and a drizzling of an herb-infused sauce. Â I opted for a spinach salad with a crab cake, both of which are good--but definitely take the dressing on the side. Â The kids' burgers were good and even came with impressive bread. Â One opted for cheese grits in lieu of fries and was very pleased for her deviation.
We dined outside on the sidewalk (yes, sidewalk dining downtown Eatonton) so that that the kids could count the chimes on the courthouse clock. Â The generous sized white and blue chairs make dining outside this establishment quite comfortable. Â The locals are as friendly as ever, and our server was anxious to provide tips and advice on all of the activities in the area including those around Lakes Sinclair and Oconee.
I didn't get to enjoy the inside ambiance, but the renovation with exposed ductwork looked to be right on target. There's a full bar and even a bicycle hanging from the ceiling for you to consider for your ride home when you've had one too many.
We will definitely make this a priority stop whenever we're seeking food in the area. It's even open until 10 p.m. on the weekends. Â Wow! Eatonton, take care of this jewel of a place!
Hannah's was excellent. Â We were in town to visit the Uncle Remus Museum and then do some browsing through an Antique Market. Â We asked where to get lunch and were promptly told to go across the street to Hannah's....not because it was across the street, but because it was so good. Â She proceeded to recommend the "Fish Tacos" (though she said she thought they would be weird until she tasted them for the first time...just had to giggle at that one).
Three of our party had the Fish Tacos, two had them grilled and I tried them blackened. Â These fish tacos were some of the best I have ever had. Â They used Mahi Mahi that was very fresh and tasty. The other adult with us had the fried shrimp basket and said the shrimp were extremely fresh and quite large. Â Even the grilled cheese sandwich from the child's menu was a home-run.
We also tried the Fried Green Tomatoes for an appetizer and found them to be very tasty and a good portion for sharing.
For desert two of us had the homemade Key Lime Pie and the other two had a Reese's Peanut Butter Pie. Â And, of course we had to share! Â EXCELLENT...
I'll be back. for sure. Â It is worth the drive from Lake Oconee and unlike anything else I have found in the area. Its good enough to fare well in a larger market.
The entrees on this menu are inspired by Key West, coastal Georgia, and the deep South. Â Mahi Mahi and jerk pork and chicken reminds me of Key West style cuisine while the shrimp and grits adds a little southern flair to the menu.
They also have an extensive bar and wine menu.
I have been a couple of times and the service is really great. I have ordered the Spicy Beans, which were green beans served in this spicy delicious sauce and topped with bacon. I also tried the crabcakes, which were very small, but good. The last time I went, I ordered the scallops special and I have to say this was my favorite. The scallops were wonderful!
The atmosphere is bright, fun, and has sort of an island feel. They have an open kitchen and bar area as well. Â I think that this place is a wonderful addition to downtown Eatonton which before, had well.....absolutely nothing as far as food choices with a nice atmosphere.
I LOVE this place.
