WORST CLUB I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. Not only were the drinks awful, and way too strong, but the management have serious anger problems. Not only was half of our group kicked out, but the bouncers were rough with the women. One woman in our group was even put in the middle of a fight between a bouncer and another guy and got hit. I understand the need for security, but they took it to an extreme. Never going back.
Review Source:Went there for New Year's Eve figuring that it would be a decent place because of the strict dress code.
If you're looking for a nice night out, this is NOT the place. When we first arrived and walked I immediately noticed people dressed not within the dress code. It basically looked like boyz n hood mixed in with Jersey shore. Oh and don't forget the motorcycle gangs flying their colors.
As far as security, well, n
ext to my table was an individual choking his girlfriend. We alerted security who came over and acted like he was the guys best friend. Instead of removing him he let him stay which subsequently led to a huge altercation where several bouncers had to then forcibly remove him.
We finally had enough and left. Good thing because then things really got out of control which involved large fights pouring out into the street. Luckily the fine officers of the Lansing Police were able regain control. Worst money I ever spent!!
After visiting their website & listening to their voicemail greeting, where they emphasized a 'strict' dress code & 'upscale', I was under the impression that this place would at least look like Enso on the inside. Â However, Harem Lounge did not look as dramatic as it did in the pictures on their site.. Â maybe it was the candles in the photos.. there were no candles when I went there..
The place itself wasn't bad.  It wasn't old or run down, it was just ordinary.  One of their VIP sections looked like sofas within an outdoor, iron-gazebo.  The bar was made of some wood-like material, with a plain, unframed rectangular mirror behind it.  There were a few wrough-iron screens here & there, as well as some red  transluscent cloths draped from the ceilings, but other than that, it was rather lacking in 'poshness'.  Maybe they just had a really tight budget.
The dance floor was ok, but could use more dance-floor lights. Â The security boys were very nice & courteous, but not very well dressed. Â Some of their suits looked strange -- ill-proportioned & asymetrical as if they had been machine-washed & not dry-cleaned.
Overall, it's still a decent place to go to dance if you have many friends with you & just want to enjoy each others' company.
This new dance club just opened last week, so decided to try it out over the weekend! First nice touch, they sent out VIP door passes via email to people that visited their website so we didn't pay cover and Ilooked like a hero to the group I was with! The inside was decorated in kinda an "Arabian Nights" type of theme with semi private seating areas and VIP areas that were more private (but not completely private). Lots of cushy chairs and fabric in rich colors. The dance floor was a bit smaller than I had hoped, but had a few raised platforms, etc for the exhibitionists to dance on. They were doing their best to keep a line outside early on, but later they didn't have to try. It got packed, and definately with plenty of "beautiful people" so people watchers take notice. This is the new place to be seen! My only small knock is that the drinks were pretty expensive, but I guess that is to be expected in an upscale club. Overall, a pretty cool place. The excellent part is that it is a DANCE CLUB, not a restaurant/bar that has a DJ a few nights per week. They are only open Thu, Fri and Sat from 8-2 and dress code is in effect (Thank You!) so put on your coolest club clothes!
