Hawthorne Inn

Food was great but really don't understand why the servers don't have a dress code!!! You want to go there for a special occasion and want to wear something nice and your server ask you would like to order as she stands there in her blue jeans & her cut off t shirt. The place should at least have some kind of dress code! Some people come in cut offs and looks life they just got off of their job! I would think Kathy could see all of this! Especially with all the advertising  they do!!!!!

Charming restaurant in Labadie, Mo only about 3.5 miles from Purina Event Center, very convenient for lunch or dinner.  This is a local gem first, so expect burgers, salads, and pasta with a few entrees to keep it interesting.  It gets crowded as it's one of few (only?) nice family restaurants in this area, so your going to be surrounded by really nice local folks.  

Big portions on the food (my wife's pasta entree could have fed 3 people), and my grilled chicken breast and vegetables came with a house salad and a side of pasta!  I saw a number of burger baskets go by on the way to other tables, and they looked fabulous.

We sat out on the front terrace and enjoyed the meal amongst the flower pots, bumble bees, and conversation about the local happenings in town.  Service was great, despite being there at peak lunch time, and our iced tea glasses were kept perpetually full.  A nice, happy experience, not a culinary gem, but that's not what you come to this locale for.

Our favorite date resturant.  We first went there 5 years ago on Valenties night when a snow storm prevented us from going down into St. Louis for dinner.  We couldn't have been happier.  The mood is relaxed, the wait staff friendly and the bartenders will make you the perfect martini if you have to wait a minute or two for a table.  The  dark brown wooden walls are covered with paintings from a local artist (all for sale).  We love our children and friends, but this is "our" place for a romantic night out.  The price isn't shockingly high, but it isn't an eat there once a week place either.  The food will not disappoint.  The steaks are seasoned and cooked to perfection.  Get the fried spinich for an appitizer, it's pretty amazing.
