4-1/2 STARS (see below).
We buy 2 lbs of Heaton's tender, moist BBQ & two bottles of its *great* sauce (hot for hubby, mild for me) when we return home from far western KY.  Everyone's idea of great BBQ is a matter of personal taste & exposure, but if someone turns his nose up at Heaton's, my guess is either he doesn't much care for BBQ in the first place or else he prefers it with a heavy tomato sauce.  One of the several things we like so much  about Heaton's style is that it's smoked, period-- no sauce, per se. The sauces are bottled & sold separately.  I like to keep an extra bottle or two at home for when we buy BBQ locally.  (Owensboro has very good BBQ, but, in my opinion, Heaton's located in Princeton has a leg up on us *and* Paducah.) Â
I knocked off 1/2 STAR because I agree with another reviewer who said the bun isn't warmed up if you just buy a sandwich on the run. Â If the bun were warmed (not asking too much, I don't think), it gets 5 stars from me.
It has been about 5 years since I last had a BBQ from here and it was absolutely wonderful and I couldn't wait to stop there this past week. This place has gone downhill! The bun and BBQ was cold! The BBQ no longer has that "pit" taste. The fries have changed and the service was unfriendly.
