This place is really fun with a great atmosphere and great service. The pizza is pretty good, but I still don't think it measures up to the original Helen Back in Fort Walton. My only complaint was that when the band wasn't playing there was no respite from the extraordinarily loud music. Don't get me wrong, I loved the band, but when the band was on break the background music was way too high. We spent the entire night screaming back and forth across the table. I went on a Thursday which is apparently ladies night, so if you like loud music all night long, that's the night for you. I personally prefer the Fort Walton or Pensacola locations to this one.
Review Source:Helen Back was very much OK. Â I ordered a Blue Moon and it was at best, flat and tasted bad. Â The bartender was not very creative when I asked her to suggest a drink she thought would wake me up, she responded with Red Bull. Â I was jet lagged and was looked for an alcoholic beverage with a kick to wake my dragging ass up. Â
They had a band playing, it was at best, mediocre. Â Got some of the famous dirty looks and glares from chicks who felt that I was a threat to them, oh no, not another pretty girl in a bar!
They have an outside deck which is a nice alternative to the loud mediocre band that was playing, but there isn't much view. Â I think they could have chosen a better location, something that overlooks the bay or the beach and that would add to a lot of what is missing at this place.
Wasn't sure how to characterize it as dive bar or sports bar but I felt it had a little bit of both.
