At Henri's I want to pretend I'm Audrey Hepbrun pretending to have a French accent pretending to be a wine connoisseur. I want to nibble my cheese and bread daintily (I generally handle a burger with the grace of a lumberjack), sitting with good posture, dabbing away crumbs so careful to not smudge my lipstick (who uses napkins?). I pretend to read a newspaper and ponder world events (I'm really doing a crossword) and work diligently on revisions of the latest chapter in my novel (I'm Yelping). I cross my legs at the ankle (so uncomfortable) and stare around the room in case someone wants to make eye contact briefly and their whole world will change right then.

I want to have romantic lunch rendezvous here and pick up expensive bottles of wine and gourmet cheeses to take home and serve to dinner guests. I want to carry away fresh bread in a paper bag and say "au revoir" as I traipse away effortlessly in stilettos on cobblestone.

Good for lunch, coffee, intimate meals and catching up with a favorite friend. And for pretending.

The steak sando just delicious, as well as the Rogue River Smokey Bleu. I loved the Greek Salad and they have a soup & salad option for lunch. It is not that easy to pretend to be dainty while eating these. The bread is hearty, the portions are good. :)

Take your date here! It's the cutest place and it has wine and cheese. Do I need to say more? I love the very attentive waitstaff almost as much as I like the make your own cheese plate option. I haven't come here for lunch yet but it's on my shortlist since I've heard they have an amazing grilled cheese. The ambience here is romantic and they have trivial pursuit cards on the tables for fun conversation. Also it's right next door to Lick if you're in the mood for something sweet. Great selection of wines & beers & cheese!!

Cheese is the reason veganism will never catch on. Mark Twain didn't say that. I did.

Cheese making, wine making, beer making, meat curing... All of these are centuries old endeavors that people put more than just hard work into. When you make a snack out of all the accumulated agricultural wisdom of humanity, it doesn't suck.

Henri's makes good on what I want from a cheese and wine bar and it is right there to serve the Barley Swine table waiters with cheese and wine before dinner. Symbiotic motherfuckers!!!

If you want the best seat in the house, and you're as big of an asshole as me, take what I coin the disappointment chair. Face yourself so you can see out the window, spread some of that strong sheep's cheese, and watch people with so much joy on their faces walk up to Barley Swine. They have been looking forward to it all week, they just drove around the block 3 times looking for a parking spot, and they finally arrived. In a minute, watch them walk back out with their expression totally changed after they are told how long the wait is. It makes the food taste better, don't shoot the messenger.

A quick stop off here before wait g at Barley Swine caused us to move our table back. Thanks for calling BS, but we are at Henris and don't want to come over just yet.
There are tons of wines to pick from and the staff really knows their stuff. They created a cheese and meat plate based on the wine we choose. The ambiance is romantic, quiet, an romantic. An excellent date spot.
The only thing I will tell you to avoid is the bison patte. ew

Small, crowded and expensive. I really liked it thought and we happened to walk in right as a table was getting up :)

I've been to Henri's a few times and I really like it. It's for those who want to be a little fancy, a little casual.

I've been there for lunch and had their mac and cheese which is soo yummy. Their salads are also delicious! I've been here for an after dinner social of sorts and the people at the counter have always been super helpful with the cheese selection and wine pairings. It can get kind of loud there at night with people talking, but it's still a great space if you're trying to get to know someone.

The only not so great experience I've had with Henri's was calling in a catering order for 12. We ordered a mix of salads and sandwiches. All the items were great but the order wasn't ready when I went to pick it up and there was a slightly delay. Overall, it was still a good experience and I would try them out again.

let me give you some advice about Henri's... it's more of a cheese shop than a restaurant and wine bar. maybe you, like me, have seen the pics on yelp for the sandwiches, and salads, and cheese boards... the prices look fair and the food so appealing.

visit #1 to Henri's: I checked yelp, hours listed for Saturday are 11 AM to 11 PM. we arrived at 2:15 PM. I'd been trying to find my way here for about a month, the moment was upon me! I stepped in to be greeted by the news of no food or wine service after 2 pm. we were welcome to buy some cheese and take it with us, but no menu food, no glass of wine. confused and deflated, we left.

visit #2: I told my mother about our failed first attempt, she wanted to go out and figured Henri's sounded about right. I suggested, "CALL FIRST, don't trust the hours listed on the yelp page as they do not reflect actual food/wine service". mom called, they said "yes, we are open till 7PM" (it was 6 PM) we jumped in the car and made it by 6:20. I stepped in the door to be greeted with "we aren't serving menu food, cheese and charcuterie boards only" I was a bit deflated. we each got a glass of wine, and shared an Austin board. I'll say the austin board was really, really good. we really enjoyed it. the staff was friendly.

I didn't find the cheese selection to be that great, but the staff was knowledgeable and the place was cute. I just wish there was a better way of notifying people when the three different versions of open were offered.

version 1: menu food with sandwiches and salads, cheese and charcuterie boards, deli counter service, along with beer and wine

version 2: cheese and charcuterie boards, beer and wine, and deli counter service (no salads or sandwiches from menu)

version 3: deli counter service to take out (no menu, no boards, no beer/wine)

Thank god this place was next to Barley Swine or else I would have had a very bad food day. We got cheese and drinks while we waited for our table. Yes, it's horrible to come to a place just as a layover to another restaurant, but is it enough to say that this place was better than our final destination?

We ordered the Austin board. Now the yelp pictures are deceiving or they revamped their menu because it seems like a lot less cheese/meats on that board as of recent. Regardless, bison pate...yeah...pretty effin' good. I guess I like my meat gamey in the south. It was very sweet and paired well with the tangy mustard and/or cheese.

You are probably better off taking your sweet time at this place and I wish I had something like this to me locally!

I wish I had wonderful things to say about Henri's but alas not so much. I have had two strikes here. The perception I had of Henri's is a wine bar. When I think wine bar I think of a place to go for conversation with girlfriends or dates. The first time i went here I brought some out of town friends after spending half an hour looking online at different menus. One of my guests was vegetarian and the menu had some items she could eat but when we arrived we were told that they only serve cheese and charcuterie at night. The online menu states lunch hours but does not make it clear that they do not serve all of the food all day. We left and went to Coal Vines. Strike 1

My 2nd visit was on a Friday night. We were given the option to sit at the bar or one end of the community table. I was with a friend that I hadn't chatted with in forever so we were hoping to catch up. We tried sitting at the bar at first but quickly moved to a table once it freed up. Sitting at the bar, we were right next to the tv which had basketball on. I get it that it is March Madness but if I wanted a sports crowd I would go to a sportsbar. There were two men sitting next to us that were obnoxiously into the game. Even after moving to a small table they were still disturbingly loud. This was worsened when someone decided to turn the music up to nightclub level. The couple sitting next to us were also bothered.

This is not the environment or service I expect from a place that touts wine and cheese. I will not return nor suggest Henri's to any of my hotel guests. I am going to try Aviary next but otherwise I will return to Mulberry or Uncorked. Mostly I will continue to miss Postino in Phoenix.

Fyi- this is a long overdue review!

I had been anticipating the opening of Henri's since one of my (many) trips to Lick and finally made it over there for what I thought would be heavy appetizers and wine. Being lovers of all things related to cheese, it seemed like there was no way we could go wrong. Well, it looks like I was way off on that. For the price of their cheese board, I expected just a little bit more. I wasn't looking for a "value sized" portion, but it's pretty sad when you get more food on your plate in Europe than you do in Texas! And the meat board? The tiny slivers of cured meats and the squirt of pâté would hardly satisfy one person, let alone two people as they casually emptied one of their (frankly) overpriced bottles of wine. As far as the ambiance goes, the environment isn't exactly conducive to a nice evening out with friends or a date. I could hardly hear my companions over the din. If I'm going to shell out big money for cheese and wine, I don't want to feel as if I'm in a crowded bar on 6th Street, getting ignored by the rude waitstaff (it took forever just to get someone over to even take our order) and having to try to ignore drunk people lacking volume control.

You want cheese? You want tasty meat? Wine? Almonds and all of the other delicious accompaniments to a proper cheese and meat board? Go to Antonelli's and have one of the highly qualified and attentive people there help you find exactly what you're looking for and have your own cheese party at home. Heck, you can even buy the boards and cheese knives there! And let me know when to show up- I'll be there with the wine!

PROs: this place is the real deal for some charcuterie and a guaranteed relaxing environment. It's a favorite spot of mine for some happy hour and to kill some time during rush hour traffic. Staff is very friendly, wide variety of wine and craft beer available. Sweet spot

CONs: they've only ever had one server while I've been there and when the place fills up, service can definitely be slow. Otherwise, not the kind of place you go to if you are in a hurry.

Nailed it!

Are you kidding me? This place is AWESOME.

A wonderfully curated selection of artisan cheeses and charcuterie paired with a wonderful offering of wines by the glass - all wrapped up in a rustic-chic atmosphere.

The baguette is as good as Easy Tiger - not an easy thing to do!

Last I was there so too was now famous chef Paul Qui. So this is THE place to be folks.

I love Henri's and you will too.

This place is the perfect setting for a gab & snack session with a friend for lunch. I decided to do just that last week with a girlfriend. I would love to come back in the evening with my mate for a romantic date. The space has a cozy & comforting vibe. The food is fantastic &, all though I didn't try the wine, the selection looked fabulous. Their grilled cheese [my mouth is watering just thinking about it] paired nicely with their tomato soup [ which included a dollip of goat cheese, yum!]
This place is becoming one of my favorite spots!

Had the grilled cheese and tomato soup with goat cheese!

Henri's seems to be thought of occasionally as some sort of staging area for those en route to Barley Swine, and while I can understand that kind of reasoning (it's easy to camp out here for awhile, and prime to relax before your main course), I found this spot particularly charming in its own right. Charming enough to consider for its own lingering perch.

Ambient and cozy, I was curious to unwind a little, and Henri's couldn't have been more accommodating - some well intentioned wine choices and a large format brew later, I found myself hovered over a charcuterie plate without a care in the world. Funny thing is, a scan around the room showed others in the same boat. Not a one of them looked like they were waiting for anything. Except, perhaps, that next round.

I'm in love.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in Austin. I love the location, it's right next to the Horseshoe Lounge and El Meson in South Austin and they've really made it into a cozy little setting.

I don't think I've even looked at their menus and I've been there I don't even know how many times now. We just walk in and talk with the server who always seems to know more about wine and cheese and charcuterie than we ever will ;) We tell them the tastes we like and they put together an amazing pairing of all things delicious. Seriously. Delicious.

The people working there seem to genuinely enjoy being there....and the atmosphere shows it.

I walked in and was immediately greeted by the staff. I looked over the large wine menu and was sad to see that they have a limited variety of desert wine. Yes, yes,yes my friends give me grief for my taste in wine. What can I say, I love it and have no plans to change any time soon. I decided on a recommended glass and was pleased.
When I have wine I always crave cheese so I was happy to see that they had many to choose from.
I like this place and would not hesitate to return. It has a low key vibe and is not over run by the "young ones".

Oh one more thing this place is located in the same parking lot as Barley Swine and Lick.

This place is awesome. I love cheese. And meat. And wine. What more could you want from a cheese shop?!!

Great selection, the prices are reasonable, and the location is great.

Really, I would be even more enthusiastic about this place and go the whole five stars, except the server/bartender/only employee in the entire place wasn't really living up to expectations. I get it, we were there on a Sunday, there were only four other people in the place... oh wait and a girl at the bar.
I don't know who she was, I'm assuming she also works at Henri's, but she got this guy's attention 100%, unlike the rest of us. At one point she went and picked up our check to swipe our credit card, but the rest of the time she was sitting at the bar having social hour so I have no idea what was going on.
Girl, if you're reading this, I'm sorry but I think everyone would have had a better experience if you weren't there. You were too distracting to our homeboy.

The other thing that dampened this experience, was that last call was at 6:40... even though every where I look it says they close at 8:00? The guy working even turned people away because they were about to close around this time. What the heck? This is not cool.

Overall though, I love the place. The concept is awesome and it's just what South Lamar needed.

Gooey, stinky, tangy goodness...

I've been here a few times now and will quickly agree with others, the cheeses and meats are tasty and not ridiculously priced and they have a nice selection of beers and wines. I did have a sandwich once too, the blue cheese and roast beef, simple and fresh, although somewhat plain, and its side salad was overdressed. They also sell product to go, but I found these expensive...

One thing I could not find on the menu that others say they had was great conversation with the staff. I've been here during off days and nights and of the several people behind the counter (not all looking busy) only one nice gal talked to me briefly and she wasn't an expert on the food. Again, no biggie, I wasn't expecting much, but other reviewers here seemed to experience more. Also, I would have been intrigued if at least interesting conversations were going on around me, but all I heard were rich older couples talking about their Prada, Lexi, etc. while younger ones kept to themselves and their date - I'm guessing most heading to Barley Swine next door.

Anyways, the charcuterie is excellent and this is a good date spot...

Open your ears and get into the groove of the variety of great tunes at the perfect pitch for lively conversation whilst sipping and noshing on a fab selection of wine, cheese and charcuterie. .

The staff is fun, knowledgeable, friendly and all-around fabulous. We always sit at the bar and always, always have a great time. And yes, the music volume is loud in the bathroom, so prepare to dance a little. By yourself. Just for fun.

Hey you.... Yeah you.

You don't like cheese do you? I didn't think s----- Wait, pretty much everyone loves gourmet cheese? Oh well then go to Henri's.

Had a few great lunches here. Enjoyed and shared the Brie w/Prosciutto, Parrano, and Brie de Provence sandwiches. Man you really just can't go wrong with fancy-pants grilled cheese.

They also have really good salads, a sweet wine list, like the charcuterie board as well.

Merci beaucou Henri!

Have been to Henri's many times and the food and service is always great and the selection of cheeses and knowledge of the staff is always impressive. Last night was no different except for the fact that it was a special event that we attended rather than a night out.

Many times establishments have no problem serving up consistent food and service on their regular days, but falter a bit (or even tank) when it comes to special events with all the extra considerations and irregular workflow. However, WIll, David, Brooke and Andy and the rest of the Henri's staff pulled off an educational, well planned, and very very fun inaugural Cheese 101 Class last night. Well done.

Thanks to everyone. We look forward to the next event. And to everyone else, if you have not been to Henri's what have you been doing?

Henri's cheese. The best. What a great spot to go and have a glass of wine, a cheese snack and play some games. The atmosphere is intimate and friendly. The waitstaff is super knowledgeable and fun. The meats are all great.

Only complaint...the lunch sandwiches are a little...i dunno they just need something. The one I had needed toasted bread for sure. But not at all a deterrent for the 5 star review because I don't think lunch is the best time to go here anyway, evenings for sure.

They just brought in a new cheese guy from NYC, and he knows his stuff. Go see him and have him choose his favorite, they will not disappoint.

Just go. Go have fun and laugh with a friend or many friends. Take a date here before you dine at Barley Swine.

:)

Henri's is not about hype. It's a simple concept with a causal atmosphere. This is the perfect pre-dinner or post-dinner stop. The menu is simple and the selection of cured meats and cheeses is sufficient. The prices are extremely reasonable and there is a decent selection of wines by the glass.

If you like spicy cured meats, I recommend their house cured Thai salami.

Being Barley Swine regulars, we often wondered what and how this place was going to turn out. It seemed like a stellar idea, cater to the long lines and wait times at Barley, but what were they going to serve? Cheese?

Our last visit we had, Antelope Terrine, Truffle Salami, Duck Pate, several amazing cheeses which I can't recall all the names of, pickled Blueberries, Almonds, mustard's and accoutrements for the sampling. We also got a great selection of wine and champers to enjoy.

Without fail, when we come in the owner always welcomes us with a smile and finds us a seat. Our service has been attentive, informative and always pleasant. They have a great atmosphere, great music playing and a multitude of options to take away with you. The last time we came in, the owner came and sat next to me and asked how my day was going what were we hankering for this time in. Now bear in mind this is only our 4th time in since they opened, but he made us feel so welcome to return, we will continue to.

Albeit, this little gem is not inexpensive. But, I don't think it's necessarily over the top in what they charge. Our plates have always had plenty to nosh on and $34 for 4 of us didn't seem to be out of our budget at least. Our wine was between $23 and $33 a bottle, which again seemed to be on point.

Fun, clean, warm, and delicious comes to mind at Henri's and we will continue to patronize them.

Apparently I have made a lasting impression at this place. If I am recalling correctly, I, along with my boyfriend and some friends came in on a random Saturday and treated the place like it was the Horseshoe. Based on reports from the staff, my boyfriend, and my friends, I tried to steal a few albums from their vinyl collection, there was some boobs being squeezed, I am starting my own wine bar???

Anyways, I really love this place. I love the wine selection, the cheeses, and the coffee sold in the retail area. It is a great concept, however our group sort of broke that concept. We think the purpose of Henri's is a go-to place for the overflow from Barley Swine. Customers are to come in, have a few glasses of wine while they wait for an available table, not to hang out for 2-3 hours drinking bottles of wine and eating a load of cheese. This is supposed to be a classy place, for classy folks, however they are very accepting of folks like me, who have a tendency to drink and get a bit happy in the process. Trust me my guy keeps me under control!

I been there for lunch and it was AMAZING!! The salads taste better than Bill Clinton's 2012 DNC Speech!

The man and I have made Henri's our go-to for a night on the town. We have decided to limit ourselves to one bottle of wine to give ourselves the opportunity to make it down to the Highball for 80's Dance Night.

Since I have been to Henri's I have used it as the benchmark for other wine bars.

A friend of mine raved about this 4 month (old) new little dig on S. Lamar next door to Barley Swine. With all the glass and car repair body shops I missed this. When I made the stop for lunch I HAD to order the decadent 3 layer grilled cheese on french bread. Although I could've done with less butter on my fingers it was absolutely delish. I paired it with a hefty $12 glass of Sancerre, sparkling and perfect to wash it down. The salad with shaved almonds that crunched was glistening with a soft balsamic vinegar.

Next time and yes there will be many, I'm ordering a cheese plate to remind me of my days in the Alsace region of France where there are more 4 star fromagerie - like - sommeliers than elsewhere in that country. The small items for sale are not seen elsewhere, Boska cheese cutters from NL, French mustards etc. You can get take away if you like. They need to work on service. I asked for French drip coffee which was excellent however there was Half and Half on the table. They brought me whole milk without a spoon nor sugar. I don't use sugar it's just the idea.

I'd love to see this place develop. Good luck Will!

Is it said like Henry or On-ree? Who cares- this place is awesome!

We stopped in for a late lunch and it was pretty quiet. I was a little confused when I walked in and couldn't find the menu, but look to your left and its on the wall over there by the wines. And specials are on the chalkboard over the cheese case.

I love the small menu- it usually tells me that every item is going to be wonderful. I was right! I ordered the Paranno- a grilled cheese sandwich w/ peppers and onions on sourdough- wow, this ain't your mama's Wonder Bread and Kraft cheese grilled cheese sandwich! Uh-maz-ing! It had a great crunch on the outside and all that awesome cheese pulled into melted, gooey strings when I took a bite- heaven!

My husband ordered the steak sandwich and his was on a baguette and had a big, thick slab of cheese on it, fresh mustard, and perfectly pink meat. Both of us got salads w/ our sandwiches and it was a baby spinach salad w/ pine nuts tossed w/ a really light vinagrette- the perfect complement to the sandwiches.

The have a good selection of wines by the glass- I had a nice pinot noir for $10 that was pretty tasty- my husband had a beer. I'd like to try their charcuterie and some cheese next time I come here- they seem to really know their stuff!!

Oh yeah- and make sure to quiz each other w/ the Trivial Pursuit cards on every table while you wait for your food to come out!

Solid little place to grab lunch. I'd love to stop by here some evening with boy and get some wine and a cute little charcuterie plate (did you know that spell-check doesn't think that's a word?), but for now I'll just write about my sandwich experience.

First, the place is teensy and charming. There's a good handful of low tables by the windows, a bunch of bar seating, and some tall bar tables. The atmosphere feels like it hung out in high school with Barley Swine, with a similar style but distinct personality. You order and pay at the counter, where you can drool over a display case of cheeses. The menu is written on notecards thrown on the case, and there's also a copy on a chalkboard on the wall.

I had a grilled cheese sandwich, the Parrano, with caramelized onions and roasted tomatoes in it. It was fantastic, except I added 'speck' for an extra $1, which means that I added a bacon-y slice of salt to my sandwich. I ended up just taking out the speck which was waaay too salty and threw off the mouthwatering perfectly grilled buttery deliciousness that was making its way to my mouth. Also it might've benefited from some mustard.

Friend had a brie sandwich with big slabs of brie, roasted pork, mustard, and other good things. Her bread wasn't anything to write home about, but the rest of the sandwich was solid. We both had side salads, which were surprisingly good seeing as they were side salads.

She had to ask for her water twice, and we couldn't really tell who worked there since they were all just wearing normal clothes and some seemed to be sitting eating lunch as well. They might've just been friends. In any case service was a bit spotty, but I bet it picks up when the place is busier.

While waiting for a table at Barley Swine, we heard that next door would be awesome. In comes the picture of Henri's. This place is fantastic. Right when you walk in, there is a selection of wines on the left and right in front of you is a selection of cheeses.

The people who work there give great recommendations on what cheese to eat. So me and wife sat down to a night of wine and cheese before our delicious meal at Barley Swine. I think this place would be cool at certain parts in Houston but you never know. I would definitely stop by again for some delicious wine and cheese.

BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE IN TEXAS?!? Only two words for that. F and YES.

We sat in Henri's, an awesome wine and cheese bar, for an hour while waiting for our table at Barley Swine. Yes, the owner is from the San Francisco area, and yes, the Blue Bottle is legit. We talked briefly with some of the waitstaff, and they mentioned that they're trying to open a Blue Bottle right behind Henri's. If that happens, I will burn a Five Hour Energy in effigy and hightail my way back to Austin, stat.

Oh, they also have a dang fine wine and cheese menu here, too. The ambiance is super casual and laid back, and the waitstaff is phenomenal. Cheese plates run from $3-$5 per cheese, and there's a solid but not overwhelming selection to choose from. Cheese can also be procured retail if you find something to your liking.

The wine list, likewise, is pretty stout. Both bottles and cheeses are on display so you know what you're getting. For the extra hungry, a selection of gourmet sandwiches and salads round out the menu.

Henri's is one of those places that is picture perfect in Austin, but would likely have trouble succeeding in Houston. That's a shame. Now get me my Blue Bottle, stat!

Stopped in for lunch. Had the Brie De Meaux. Pretty good sandwich though didn't wow me and had me questioning whether I'd go out of my way for a 2nd one some time.

Kinda pricey. A sandwich and a Pellegrino were more than $10.

In the last couple of years Austin has really had an explosion of wine and cheese restaurants that have opened up that are European inspired. Henri's (pronounced like the French say it not like 'Henry') is another one of those.

If you go during the day you are going to find a bistro type sandwich shop. If you go at night you will find wine, cheeses, and charcuterie.

The inside is smallish and can get really loud when crowded. Henri's is really a great compliment for Barley Swine next door as there will always be a wait at Barley Swine. You can come here and sip wine, eat some meats and cheeses while you wait and the staff at Barley will come get you.

Because there is so much going on in this area now parking will be a nightmare on weekends, just FYI.

These people know their cheese and meat. Not to mention their extensive wine, beer and bubbly offerings. Just feast your eyes on the shelving to the left when you enter. The owners and staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly adding a special warmth to our experience.

When we arrived, the sweet girl behind the cheese counter (where I left some drool and fingerprints) handed us a slew of menus and told us to sit wherever we wished. I thought she was giving the four of us each a menu but when seated we realized they actually have 3 different menus!

Finally after a long perusal of the many options, we ordered a fantastic charcuterie plate with some bubbly for the girls and beer for the boys. Every wedge or lump of cheese was earthy and delicious and the thin sliced salami was rich and salty. The balsamic fig preserves was incredible and the slightly sweet pate was so unique I was "forced" to keep eating it.

Our sophisticated friends have fallen head over heels in love with a New Orleans Duck pastrami and rilletes from Cochon Butcher. One of Henri's owners said they had it once and might get some in again and my friend whipped out her business card so they could call her when it arrived. There is no place like South Austin for a big dose of Texas friendly.

Boo for no gluten free crackers or bread; yay for outdoor seating; and woohoo for the Prosecco!

My review deals with their lunch service than the evening offerings of cheese and meat plates.

I was in the area and came in for a quick bite during work to this establishment. Reminiscent of the single item and its variations food shops across Europe (most famously France) which may sell just cheese, certain meats, seafood, dressings, etc this is what I felt upon entering. From 11-2 you can eat their sandwiches or the daily special which I had. From 5 to 10 pm they offer various cheese and meat plates. During the entire time the place is open you can buy cheeses and wines to take home as if you went to the super market. The staff are very friendly and courteous asking how my day has been and how I liked the food which is coming up right, now!:

My meal was somewhat of a sandwich but a plate of Cochon Cold Smoked Duck Pastrami with a side of fancy mustard, marble rye, and a nice salad. The Duck Pastrami was great full of flavor and a nice hint of sour and sweetness matched with the mustard. The salad was fancy greens tossed in some nice oils that was not overwhelming but nice. It was not a lot of food but a good amount for the price. This is a weekly special so a better understanding of this place can come when I try one of their regular sandwiches.

As for the evening cheese and meat plates I read complaints about the amount of food you get for the price. Basically a more upper artisan restaurant does that and if your waiting to eat at Barley Swine and order some food here and complain about the portions and price then why are you even going to Barley Swine. I can't be the judge of those reviews but it's basically caveat emptor.

I live far from here but I will be back to try the regular menu lunch items if everything is in the right place for me. I will most likely try the meat and cheese plates when I finally try out Barley Swine as I wait in line. If that happens and there is a change of heart with my original review i will let you know.

18 bucks for a dozen TINY slices of meat? I've had charcuterie plates at dozens of places in Austin, not to mention some of the finest dining establishments in the world, and I have NEVER felt like the quality/quantity wasn't worth the price.Until now.

The meat/cheese plate together were over 30 dollars, and were COMICALLY SMALL. I seriously thought there was some sort of mistake.

Small plates are fine. But not when coupled with prices like this.

Also: NOTHING else on the menu but 2 items? You're between BARLEY SWINE and LICK! Step it up, Guys.

Henri's is a great idea for the 78704 neighborhood - a casual wine bar with great cheese and charcuterie.

We were the first lunch patrons ever, and they didn't have their full sandwich menu yet, just a grilled cheese or a French ham and brie sandwich. However, the French ham and brie was great - not too big, amazing baguette (they buy from Moonlight bakery just down the street), excellent quality ingredients.

The decor is modern without being stuffy. Service was amazing, and we got to sample some goat cheese feta (one of the best cheeses I've had!). I didn't purchase the cheese, wine or meats available but I certainly plan to - it's great to have a cheese shop closer than Antonelli's!

The main plan is to be a sandwich shop during the day and a wine bar at night, with charcuterie/cheese boards to much on. I can't wait until they are fully up and running, I will definitely be a regular.

It's like 78704 is the jigsaw puzzle you have been working on over a 3 day weekend, and Henri's is that perfect last piece that was on the floor, under the table. In other words, I feel like my neighborhood is complete with the addition of this fine wine, cheese and charcuterie shop. The ambiance is chic yet comfortable, and Andy and Will make you feel right at home. I enjoyed a cheese board, and wow, their cheesemonger knows her stuff! I hear there is more to come from Henri's in the near future, including wine and cheese tastings, lunch and dinner specials, and extended hours.

I love that Henri's is multi-purposed. You can stop in for a bottle on the way home from work, you can quench you thirst while waiting on your Barley Swine table, Henri's can be the destination for a night out with your girlfriends, or you can even swing by for one last glass of wine when you don't want the night to end because your http://match.com date was actually cool. Savvy?

I am eager to watch Henri's develop into a staple of our South Lamar neighborhood. If you enjoy wine, cheese, and good people, then go see for yourself. And if you don't like those things, what's wrong with you?
