Went to lunch here with my family and we all enjoyed our meals. Very polite and efficient service as well. My mom had the steak salad and was very pleased, as the veggies were crisp and fresh, the steak done to her liking without being tough and topped with three of the best onion rings she's had while eating out in a long time. My French dip was also very good, with the prime rib being thinly sliced and quite tender and the Au Jus not being too salty (as it can be at many restaurants). My brother also found his burger and fries to be good, but says the fries were a bit on the heavily salted side for his tastes. We also enjoyed the decor of the restaurant as it references the history of the town as well as classic movies and American history. It is a very nice place to get dinner and good service in Warrensburg. However do keep in mind it is located on Pine street (aka bar street) and may not be the ideal place to take young kids on weekend nights. Also the parking is limited (on pine street) and you may end up parking elsewhere downtown and walking to get to the restaurant. Overall it is a great place to eat in this town, with good menu choices and nice for a special occasion or just a casual night out.
Review Source:I took a group of family members here for Sunday brunch, as they are one of few locally owned options. The service was the worst I've ever had at any restaurant, comically so. We were only one of two tables in the whole place, so I don't know their excuse. The food was decent when it finally came, but the coffee was a watered down version of generic drip you'd have at a non-coffee lovers house and the orange juice was just mixed from frozen concentrate...nothing special.
Review Source:Our family had a wonderful experience here! We were 6 adults and two young kids, a challenging group in a full section that included other kids (including babies) also. Our waitress, Elizabeth, was outstanding! Not only was she cheerful and helpful throughout, but she got every order right and was quick with special requests. Of special note, she was conscientious enough that at the end of the meal she asked if "anyone is interested in D-E-S-S-E-R-T", thus avoiding trouble by potentially riling up the kids; I was impressed.
Everyone was happy with their food, too. From my prime rib special with loaded baked potato, to the steak sandwich, to the salads, to the kids' "smiley fries", nobody had any complaints. Their Unknown Soldier drink, a dangerously smooth fruity concoction, was delicious and available in a 1-liter carafe. Â
Warrensburg isn't known for great restaurant options, but this is one I'll definitely advocate for. Thanks for a wonderful (and reasonably priced) evening!
Heroes is one of the best in Warrensburg- but that's not saying a lot. The food is mediocre, not horrible but not award winning- I will say that the onion rings and Unknown Heroes (a drink) are Warrensburg famous, though. The menu is varied... probably a little too varied to have anything mastered. Nothing will ever be made the same twice, something is always left off, which is frustrating.
Review Source:One of the "nicest" restaurants in town. They have great 1/2 price apps from 4-6 M-Th... get the potatoe skins!!
Their steak is awesome (specifically the KC strip)
The staff is generally friendly. The atmosphere is sports bar/pub with a family kick.
It's a bit pricy, especially because you have to add on everything (cheese, ranch dressing, fries...)
No, a sandwich does not come with anything.
A Warrensburg staple with the likes of Old Drum.
If you want overpriced Applebee's fare with spotty service---which is actually a compliment for Warrensburg dining----then Heroes is your spot.
I've had several menu offerings----nothing transcendental here. Â But it works. Â
SIt at the bar and chum with the barkeeps. Â Heavy pours remind you why this is a nice alternative to the sweaty grinds of neighboring establishments on pine street.
I like Heroes. I like the atmosphere, and the food. What I don't like are the prices. There isn't really much to choose from in Warrensburg as far as locally owned joints go, and for that reason Heroes is just a little pricey for what they offer in my opinion. Heroes is a good place to take the family out to eat, but expect to pay a little more than what you might think upon walking in there. Overall they do have pretty good food, but if somone asks me the BEST place to get a steak, burger, etc... in town, Heroes is not the place that comes to mind for any of that.....except maybe their honey mustard. The one item I do stay away from when eating there is their fries. They are fresh cut, but they taste like they were only in the frier once as opposed to a double fried method that would make them more crispy. To be honst they taste like fries that you brought home and reheated in the the microwave the next day.
Review Source:Love this place. Being a college student this is a place I bring my family when they come to visit. This is the perfect way to get a little bit of Warrensburg in about 20 minutes. From all of the nostalgic items on the walls and art work from locals it gives a great sense of "home".
The onion rings are amazing. The breadding is very flakey and floury but with ranch they are just delicious. A #1 reccomendation is the famous Unkown ... its called this because its unknown what is exactly in it but it gets you "silly" very fast.
The service here is good although I have seen a waitress doing her hair and make up at the bar and using the mirror behind the bar while flinging her wet hair all over dousing it with hair spray... I will admit this grossed me out just a bit...
Overall I love coming to Heroes especially for lunch. Hot wings, chicken fingers, onion rings, Unkown, and Warrensburger are some favorites.
Just as I was getting a little blue that absolutely nothing about my old college town seemed the same, we stumbled into Heroes. After a few litres of Unknowns (the house specialty drink), I suddenly felt my youthful vigor come back to life. Aside from being a little larger (expansion?), the classic decor and kitchen favorites were the same. Very comforting to this wayward Mule.
