High Plain's Diner

Whenever I visit my parents in Byers, we always come out to High Plains Diner for brunch each Saturday. It's become a tradition that I'm happy to keep on because the food is hearty, traditionally American, and served with the sensibility of those lifelong residents of the heartland.

I usually order the biscuits and gravy, which are great, but have also tried the omelet (pretty good), and the breakfast burrito (delicious but huge enough to feed a family!). They have great bacon, and I'd love to know how many of their ingredients are locally sourced.

It's the kind of place that welcomes you into the community, fills you up, and sends you out for a hard days work on the farm, or as in my case, a day of resting and digesting on the weekend.

Out East it is hard to find a good place to eat. Most of the places are nothing special and the service is just average. But the High Plain's Diner is different, they have wonderful home cooked style breakfast! It is so yummy, the service is always friendly and quick! I love that we have this place to eat!

The Reuben was flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the black and blue burger was also tasty, though admittedly it was cooked just slightly over what was requested, and the bun didn't do the patty justice. The fries were cooked nicely, no too crisp not too soggy. The blueberry pie was very tasty, with a great crust and really great texture and taste in the filling, which more than compensated for any flaws in the meal. The space is pleasant, and the staff was very friendly and we received wonderful service. A great choice!
