This place has fantastic pastries! I feel like it has gone a bit downhill with the new management (what's with the crappy tourist tchochkes for sale? And where are all the delicious soups?? What happened to the cozy chair nook?) but it will always be a favorite spot for me in the Jemez. I highly recommend the apricot twist, the almond croissant, and the piñon tart, but everything else is good. The quiches are rich and heavy, and the breakfast burritos taste delicious. It is also a homey, relaxed atmosphere and the perfect place to while away a rainy afternoon with friends or getting work done on the laptop. A great and unusual find in the Jemez mountains.
Review Source:Wow! I'm addicted. I wish I'd discovered them earlier in the summer, as I'm staying here as a summer hire with the USFS. The food at Hwy 4 Coffee (often called Hwy 4 Cafe) is EXCELLENT. It's the best in town--as is their free WiFi. It's the fastest in town. The pizza and salads are good but the desserts are, by far, the best. Most people who go into the cafe order dessert and coffee...which is good stuff, too. It sure beats any coffee you can get anywhere else in Jemez Springs. And it ain't Starbucks either. :)
My only wish is that they were open 12 hours a day EVERYday instead of just Fri and Sat. And like all places in Jemez, you'll pay for the  convenience and imported ingredients.
