Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening, although always a welcome site to see a parking lot NOT empty when pulling into a new place.
Have been meaning to check this place out for a while and after reading a few reviews here thought it was about time. Â Very nice atmosphere, almost a Cracker Barrel feel without the store to navigate through to be seated. Â
Very simple menu but plenty of variety. Â Be sure to check out the specials board. Â Prices were very reasonable and service was attentive. If other servers walked past your table they were sure to refill drinks and remove any finished dishes.
Not too shabby! We order drinks (very cheap, $5 for top shelf liquor, beers equally as inexpensive) and a plate of wings. The wings were great. Hot, meaty and freshly made! It seemed like a nice, local, family type place. The waitress was nice and came with our food quickly. Not too shabby!
Review Source:We were to meet friends halfway between Kitty Hawk and Raleigh, and that landed us in Williamston. Â I have to say we were very pleased to have discovered the Hitch'n Post!
The lunch buffet was more than adequate and was stocked with some of the best fried chicken and yam casserole that I've ever had. Â And those green beans ... incredible. Â Perfectly seasoned and had a wonderful smoky bacon flavor. Â And the chicken and dumplings ... mouthwatering! Â Make sure you try it all!
Next time we are headed east I will definitely be making a stop here again. Â We were very pleased!
As others have noted there is a shortage of sit-down, full service restaurants in Williamston. Â I haven't had lunch or dinner at Hitch'n Post but have had their Sunday buffet on numerous occasions. Â I'm not sure of their reservation policy (if you need to have more than 5 people to get a reservation) but there is always a wait after Noon on Sundays (post-church). Â
The buffet is pretty good and definitely the way to go (maybe the only way to go on Sunday as the other options are severely limited - chicken fingers and a burger might be all you can get). Â There's a good mix of meats & vegetables along with a big salad bar and desserts. Â The food is all pretty good and what you would expect for a southern buffet. Â
Definitely the place to go for a Sunday afternoon lunch if you're in town.
The Hitch'n Post is a nice place for an okay dinner. Â The log cabin/western theme was kinda cool, but the menu doesn't exactly reflect a "western" restaurant. Â I would not recommend the chips and salsa. Â The salsa is straight from a jar and the salad bar is less than adequate for the "add on" price that they charge. Â The service was fair, but nothing to brag about. Â Williamston, NC is limited in the amount of sit down places to eat, but when in Williamston, I would recommend visiting the Hitch'n Post!
Review Source:The Williamston, NC area is dreadfully lacking to sit down, non fast food restaurants. Â It is refreshing to find the Hitch'n Post, a locally owned restaurant.
Western themed decor includes wood paneling and lots of gun posters, western type photos, etc. Â Menu would be considered limited if this were a metro area, but it has a good variety of steak, seafood, and chicken items.
They do have a decent salad bar. Â I highly suggest substituting it for the house salad.
I ordered the chicken pasta bowl (grilled chicken over penne pasta with Alfredo sauce). Â Really liked the sauce and the portion was generous.
I give three stars instead of four for the long wait time in getting my entree. Â It was 15 minutes after I had finished my salad before it arrived.
