About a year or so ago the place changed hands and the new owners have done an excellent job with everything. The food is amazing and the help is great. The owner/chef makes regular tours of the dining area to make sure everything is perfect with your meal which is a really nice touch. They recently added a beer garden onto the bar area which is very nicely done. The parking lot is always full which is always a good sign. We have eaten there for many years and it keeps getting better!
Review Source:Open since 1955, The Chanticleer is a bastion of good, solid Midwestern fare. Clean, friendly and warmly inviting, there are few restaurants like this left. The menu is your basic "meat and potatoes", with daily specials offered. Fried chicken, prime rib, pork chops, steak and catfish. It is a veritable Cardiologists' nightmare, but delightfully so. There is a bar off of the main dining room where you can imbibe while waiting for a table, but, no swearing or you'll be asked to leave. The parking lot is always packed as a testament to the quality of the food and the popularity of the restaurant. Thank goodness it's a large parking lot!
