I went here with a friend to hopefully witness some of the paranormal claims that have been documented. Unfortunately, it was a rather uneventful night. I got a few pictures with bright white orbs in our room (22) but that is all. We heard walking through the halls throughout the night but assumed it to be other guests. But, it was a great night nonetheless. I only slept for 1-2 hours but the bed was comfortable, although there was a huge dirty spot on it that made it look like it had been unwashed...but I didn't care at that point because we didn't go there to sleep and i only used the bed for a short time. The building itself is so cool, I love the rustic look and feel of it. Everyone who worked there was super friendly and accommodating. In the morning we were surprised by a complimentary breakfast arrangement which included toast, pastries, bagels, cereal, coffee, and oj. I would stay here again (but not alone of course). Maybe next time I'll get to witness something more exciting in one of the rooms!

Food is awesome but the employees are the bomb! I think I'm celebrating my birthday here

I was a little leery once I found out that the hotel had no air conditioning and it would be over a hundred degrees when I arrived, but the swamp coolers throughout the building did the trick, and the room was slightly warm during the day but extremely comfortable. The hotel itself is fascinating, with relics from the last hundred years (including Roosevelt's signature in a guest book) and an antique organ in the hall. Since the town was tiny and there wasn't much to see, I spent a good deal of time on the patio playing guitar and hanging with the resident cat. For $45, perfect road trip lodging on the way to Yosemite.

We made reservations to stay here but after the long drive we left without staying the night. Although the room looked clean, the bed looked and felt like the mattress had not been replaced since it was built. The bathroom was not across the hall from our room as promised on the web site but down the hall and behind the staircase.

They did not offer a refund.

They were only serving food in the bar not the restaurant. And they closed at 8 PM so if coming in late bring your own dinner.

An interesting little town but the Hotel Jeffry is not worth the drive.

I completely 4got to review Hotel Jefferey.Sorry guys! My husband, myself & my pup stayed there 3 wks ago,so I could catch up with some old friends from high school. My friend Susan, suggested we stay here & we were not disappointed. Forrest & Sara were very friendly & made us feel right at home. Dave was kind enough to fix me up so I could have my nightly decaf tea before bedtime. Now this is an authentic rustic old place that has been redone, but keeping the authenticity .If you are expecting 24/7 room svc, cable t.v.,internet access,swimmingpool/hottub-well this isnt the place for you! If you can appreciate getting a feel of what it was like a very long time ago, then is is the place for you. Keep up the good work guys,I had a very restful visit.Too bad we did not get any glimpses of ghosts=I was so looking forward to it. We will visit again .thanks for your hospitality.

In 2008, my business sent myself and a colleague to do some work on Lake McClure in Mariposa County.  This unusual old hotel was the closest accomodation, so we decided to give it a try for the five nights we were there.  For me, the advertisement that the hotel was haunted was an added bonus, but not so much for my colleague.  She is convinced to this day that her room was haunted and slept poorly because of it.

The hotel is old and allowance must be made for that.  We were lucky and got rooms with private baths, but most of them have shared bathrooms in the main halls.  Ours we consider luxury, but we both appreciated them after long days outside in the oppressive heat.  The beds were old-school, but comfortable.  The rooms were a bit cramped, but again, they were designed a long time ago.  I had no problem with them.  I also appreciated the connecting door between my room and my colleagues.

At night, the lights would flicker and there were some creaks and such, but I put all that down to the building being over a hundred years old.  My colleague, on the other hand, claimed there was something in her room and spent long nights awake.  She was not the only one at my work disturbed by the place.  Another group from my work had to leave in the middle of the night when one of their party claimed there was someone weeping in her room.  There is a room that is alleged to have a crying ghost... but I am not sure if that was the room she was in.  Anyway, I was not disturbed, but some people do find the place creepy.

The fancy restaurant was not open during our stay, but the bar had a decent menu.  However, after five nights of eating there, I was getting a bit weary of the fare.

Definitely an unusual place to stay and close to Yosemite, too!

They do a great New Years Eve celebration. Fine dining in their Victorian dining room and live music and dancing upstairs,  You definitely have to make a reservation for dinner.

The place is supposedly haunted but after two stays we saw no poltergeists.

The town is a little sleepy and it's not very close to Yosemite's entrance, but not much is. I was told it's very popular among the Single Action Shooting Society certain times a year.

We had a private bathroom in our room but most rooms have to share the facilities with other guests.  Don't expect other amenities like cable TV, room service or anything beyond basic comfortable old-style accommodations.

My brother's family and I stayed here the last weekend in July while visiting Yosemite, and the hotel and service were outstanding, so I wanted to drop a note.  Its an 1850s hotel that's been restored by the couple that owns it (Cherylann & Peter).  They're super friendly.  Its 'European style' meaning most rooms share bathrooms and showers at the end of the hall, but with only 6 or 8 rooms and 2 sets of bathrooms per floor we never had to wait or were inconvenienced.

The best feature by far is the restaurant downstairs - it's reasonably priced but outstanding food and service, and nice sized portions for even the kids meals.  We had chicken, salmon and beef dishes, and all were great.

Its not a pure B&B in that breakfast is separately priced, but the rates are very reasonable, and the historic (Teddy Roosevelt and Mark Twain stayed) atmosphere makes it a lot of fun, and the owners are so friendly and helpful it feels very 'homey'.

I'd highly recommend it when you're travelling to Yosemite or up in that area.

    Matt
