Oh my gosh! Best Prime Rib I've had! The Cheese Curds are better than the State Fair curds. Been there for lunch and dinner. Both excellent food and great values. First visit was in the early 90's. Took my children on a short day trip just to get away. A few more places to visit in the town then. Took a horse drawn carriage ride (no longer available). Enjoy the atmosphere with the antiques and kerosine lamps on the tables. Staff is pleasant and attentive. Arrive a little early and stop in at the Candy Store across the street.
Review Source:The food was good, but not exceptional, the service was OK.
we went for lunch late to be out of the rush. When we arrived ( about 1:00) it was nearly empty.. After waiting nearly a 1/2 an hour the waitress came and said the food would arrive momentarily, as the were backed up in the kitchen.
We were very disappointed, after hearing so much about the the place, I guess they live on History and ambiance.
I see ranking of locations in towns I've never heard of many time, so I figured it was my turn.
The Hubble House is an outstanding establishment from many viewpoints. It is approx. 1 1/2 hours South of downtown Minneapolis and 20 minutes West of downtown Rochester. Mantorville is a tiny town of only 1,000 which tells you quite obviously people come from all over since they have been in business for over 150 years.
I love history and the fact that it has been there since 1854 and some of the names that have eaten there are Ulysses S. Grant, Micky Mantle, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dr. William J. Mayo and Dr. Charles H. Mayo (establishers with their father of Mayo Clinic), and many more let's you know how wonderful this place is.
You get to enjoy the fine dining in a Civil War era atmosphere.
I have had their BBQ Rib many times and they are certainly "fall of the bone" ribs with an excellent BBQ Sauce. I once ordered their T-Bone steak and it covered the plate! It was the best steak I remember ever having and it was enough for 2 more meals after that night! With my favorite meal being the Shrimp and Steak Combo.
Service here has always been wonderful and upbeat.
You will see people dressed up in business suits or you will see jeans or even the local softball teams in their uniforms as again this is a small town were anyone is welcome.
I am just glad I am only in Minnesota visiting family a couple times a year because I would be going here so much that the cost of gas would bankrupt me!
