First off, the food was good, better then I expected based off the first 10 minutes of our visit. We almost left because: 1. We weren't asked what we wanted to drink for this span of time. It was 110 degrees and we were damn thirsty. 2. Â When asked if we wanted refills on our water, we said yes, and got sprite back. Gross. Good luck chasing the waitress down to remedy this. 3. Â Ham fried rice. It was tasty, but I have to know... Regional thing? In New England it's pork fried rice. This was little bits of pink ham.
Like I said though, meals were good. Husband got sesame chicken, pleased with it. I got cashew broccoli, loved it!! On food alone I'd give it a 4.
We enjoyed every single moment in this restaurant after a 5hr hike in the Zion national park.
It was almost 10pm and we were searching for food on the way from Zion to St. George where our motel was. When we were desperately driving into the Wendy's plaza in this small town, my bf magically saw the Hunan restaurant which  was still open!
As I walked in n asked about when they close, the owner welcomed us and said whenever you guys finish the meal, then showed us the secret Chinese-only menu. so we ordered salt n pepper steak, kung pao chicken, sichuan pork, garlic bokchoy and egg drop soup. The hot soup was as comforting as always. The steak was delicious, reminded us the free range cows we saw on the roadside, confirmed our question if the cows here taste better then the ones in California. Kung pao chicken was not quite authentic, but it was tasty, as well as the sichuan pork. It surprised me that they hav the chinese cabbage instead of the cantonese version bok choy, and that was extremely comforting after 2 days consumption of fast food straight.
The owner was chatty, as we were finishing up, he came out and talked about his old days in SF where we came from. BTW, I got the most dramatic & coincident fortune cookie saying there.
To wrap it up, it is a must stop if you are Chinese and you are on a road trip to Zion & Bryce from Vegas.
The family was starving on the way back from Zion national park.  Yelped several locations and  was up in the air about China Buffet or Hunan city.  We decided to go for fresh food instead and we were very happy about the choice!!
Must try the Shrimp/beef/chicken crunchy noodle!!! Â very authentic!!
The service is def. slower then a buffet, but the food is fresh and worth the wait!
I don't like chow mien much, but the chicken chow mien blew my mind.
I've been here twice on my trips to Zion.
Prices are low, low. I got out of there for about 10$--I was solo.
I love that the Grand Opening sign has been up for a few years now. Maybe they are reinventing themselves. :)
Food was ok. Â Big portions! Â Hot and sour soup, black pepper beef, double cooked pork and bok choy. Â Too much for the 3 of us even though the owner suggested any less would not be enough. Â Slow but friendly service. Â There were only 2 parties during dinner and we were pretty much left alone when the workers started to have their own dinner.
Review Source:Would give a 4 if the owner is more passionate to serve us despite we arrive 10mins before closing hour. We understood we are the only customers, that's why we ordered all our meal to go.
The sun has not gone down as it's summer. Maybe will give better review next time (if we go there again - if....)
We drove to Hurricane while staying near Zion and looking for somewhere to eat on Yelp when we came across Hunan City. Â We really enjoyed the food, the portion sizes were huge and the prices were great! Â The owners were very friendly and nice, gave us great service and the restaurant looked clean. Â If we ever go back to this area we'd definitely eat there again!
Review Source:It was pleasantly surprised to have found this restaurant. Â My mom is not so used to Western foods. Â We have been looking for a decent Asian meal for the past 4 days. Â This is a very nicely decorated chinese restaurant. Â This place is brand new having opened for only a couple of months. Â The owner came out to greet every table. Â I think he is also a chief. Â The service is great. Â And the food is very tasty too. Big portion and reasonable price. Â Overall, this is a nice little gem in the town of Hurricane.
