since we didn't know the area on our first morning in Hurricane, i did a quick Yelp search for breakfast (to which my brother replied "what's Yelp? before being slapped for sacrilege). JB's was the only place that showed up and that was open at 7am and that served "regular" breakfast food as my meat eating brother likes to call it.
the place was basically empty but we had to wait for a table. the coffee was pretty bland, standard restaurant coffee. the breakfast buffet was financially the best deal considering i eat twice my body weight in breakfast. it had plenty to choose from: biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon, all of which i did not try. i had a couple of pancakes, some french toast, regular scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with peppers, the oatmeal, a bowl of cottage cheese with added fruit, pudding (i think), and some granola with yogurt. and then i went back for a little more. the strawberries were red on the outside, but white on the inside. the fruit cocktail was straight from a can. surprisingly, the pancakes and french toast were both good.
but i just needed a belly full of breakfast and this place sufficed. we didn't go back for our other 2 mornings in Hurricane, however, our waitress and the manager were both very friendly. but i don't like it when i can hear staff complaining from the service area about their ex boyfriends/husbands getting arrested and other sundry personal complaints.
Here for breakfast on 5/26/2012. Â Didn't know what to expect when we walked in. Â Found out it is part of a chain of restaurants. Â Though the inside of the place looked a bit sketchy, at first, we were happily surprised that the food was good and the service was excellent. Â I had the "pot roast omelet" that was very, very good; the meat was like the meat that falls off the bones of short ribs. Â They also had a breakfast buffet table that was packed with all types of breakfast food. Â Good food at a fair price.
