From the outside, it's a dump. Â Plain and simple.
If you've never been inside, you are missing out. Â The Indian Chief isn't exactly a bustling venue, but the bartenders are nice, the place is clean, the food is pretty darned good for basic bar food, and they have live music. Â It's right around the corner for me, so it's convenient for a glass o wine after work. Â
Check it out if you haven't. Â It's rarely crowded, the patrons are quiet, and it's not filled with rowdy, drunk sports bar patrons. Â There are tons of tables in the bar area, and there is a separate dining room if you want a quiet dinner.
Growing up right down the street from the Chief, it always got a bad rep for being a dirty dive bar. Â Last year was the first time I stepped foot inside the place, even though I've lived in town for over 17 years now! Â To be honest it was nothing that I expected at all, it's actually a pretty clean place, offerring live music, DJs, and karaoke on Thursday nights. Â Typical bar food, I'm pretty sure the majority of the menu is fried, but great beer selections and tons of specials on game days with plenty of TVs to go around. Â There's also a larger room with a pool table too! Â Great spot if you want to shy away from the other two bars in town that all of your former classmates flock too.
Review Source:The Chief is a special place. It looks scary from the outside... It is a bit of a dive in some ways inside. But I must say some of their signature bar food is really great. The tuna sandwich is pretty great, staff is friendly and warm, and for some reason they seem to have a nearing gourmet dessert menu (get le bomba!!!!!)
Great bands, locals, and a reasonably priced good time. Its the best of what a dive bar should be.
There are only a few bars in Medford... Â two of them are chains were they are more interested in high priced drinks and girls with tight clothing... Â The Chief has very good drink prices, a very good menu, great NFL game specials with all games on TV. Â If you want Karaoke, DJ, Live Bands... come out on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively....
Review Source:I always drove by this place and thought, "Wow, that place looks super sketchy." Â Then my friends started going there occasionally for drinks. Â The first time I joined them I was pleasantly surprised. Â The inside is not nearly as sketchy as the outside - that is to say, it's not sketchy at all. Â It's just a regular restaurant/bar, and there's pretty much only a half a dozen people in there at any time. Â
There's a huge dance floor, and there's a DJ some nights who will take requests. Â It's perfect for a group that just wants to hang out and dance to their favorite tunes. Â I don't think I'd get anything more than fries to eat, but it's a great place to have in the area for drinking purposes.
