Awful! I'll start off by saying that its very rare that I complain, but this restaurant had the worst service and worst food I've ever experienced. This Pirone's has moved to Flying W in Medford, by the way.
My family and I came in for lunch to find no receptionist and no server to ask to be seated. After about 10 minutes of waiting, we were finally seated. An additional 10 minutes passed until our order was taken. Later, we waited 15 more minutes for drinks, about 15 more for appetizers (that's 40 minutes so far), and a total of an HOUR AND 10 MINUTES until our sad little lunch arrived. The restaurant was nearly empty! Only 4 other tables were full the entire time! Why did it take so long?!
Not only was the wait incredibly long, but our food was gross. My chicken was hard and dry, there was an egg shell in my salad (but no eggs), and the pasta was served in a soupy, watery mess with no flavor. Even the iced tea was instant! Awful experience. Never going back.
We ate here in 2005 for dinner when we first moved to Westampton and we were not impressed and have not been back until tonight. Based upon a Yelp review saying that the pizza was good we figured we would give it another shot. Boy were we wrong. I had better pizza a Chuck-e-Cheese at a kids birthday party last week. The kids had friends over so we didn't have time to go to our favs.
If we want to drive, hands down #1 is DeLorenzos in Robbinsville. #2 is Tocanellis in Maple Shade. If you want local Pizza in Westampton / Mount Holly you can't go wrong with Villa or Sal's.
We tried the WAY over priced tomato pie. First off the crust is thick and doughy and the tomatoes are chopped up run of the mill tomatoes from Acme. The menu say basil and I dare you to be able to taste it on the pie. The water from the raw tomatoes makes this pie a wet hot mess. I still can't get that wretched taste out of my mouth. And the cheese pizza is no better.
I have read a review of DeLorenzos that said their pizza will make you a pizza snob. While not much compares to it, I can still appreciate others and find qualities that I like. I can find nothing good about the pizza at Pirone's. They also are very disorganized in this place. The kitchen staff was walking in circles. They told me 20 minutes on the phone. So I showed up on the 20 minute mark on the nose and I didn't get the disaster for another 23 minutes.
As you can tell, I did not like their Pizza. Lesson learned. Maybe I will give them a shot in another 6 years to see if they can get their act together.
