I stopped here for lunch while driving towards the airport. I was early so not many people dining, but it sure started to fill up.
I enjoyed the warm tortilla chips and that awesome salsa...I asked for a second dish of salsa it was that good. For my meal I ordered the chicken enchilada and tamale...it came with rice and beans. It arrived steaming hot, and it was quite tasty.
Service was right on...they seemed to know the appropriate time to swing into my table to refresh the water and make sure my meal was satisfactory.
All in all...a good experience, good food, and an acceptable price.
A run of the mill family style joint. 2.5 would be my actual star choice but that's not an option. The menu is HUGE and rather redundant at times. The free chips and salsa are pretty darn good. The entrees vary wildly in quality. The place has a full bar, so that's worth the half star upgrade. Maybe. Didn't want to give it two stars but it doesn't deserve three stars. They don't need me to keep them open, they're in the biggest strip mall in a small town. An added bonus: some of the enlarged photos on the wall still have their timestamps on them. Hee hee...
Review Source:Always more food than one can eat with plates about 16" in diameter. The Luis Special grilled steak and shrimp was okay, but the beef was very tough, thinly sliced with about two three inch round pieces (1/8th inch thick) which must have been from an old cow. We were left without attention during the busy times, and had to wipe off our seats before we sat down.
Review Source:The food is about average for your normal Mexican style restaurant.  All the items we had in our group were received well.  The little ones ate the chicken nuggets and fries well also, so that gives dinner a big plus.  The décor is normal again for this style of eatery.  The staff is great.  Very friendly, and met all our needs without being overbearing.  Of the two Mexican choices in Veneta, this is the one we prefer.  We visit every couple of months and food quality and taste are consistent. The prices are average as well.
Review Source:Lived in Veneta for a few years and had never been to Ixtapa, that's because we used to go to Rosalina's, but unfortunately they are now out of business.
The restuarant is in a strip mall like most things in Veneta. The restaurant was fairly modern and clean and it has very high ceilings which give it an open more airy feel.
The menu is fairly extensive and it inculded some vegetarian options too. Prices were about average, say $9-$14 for most dinner entrees. We shared a large margarita for only $6.50. Service was pretty good with the only noticeable delay coming at the end waiting for the check. In Eugene this would be a 3 star restuarant, but since this is now the only Mexican choice in Veneta I'm adding an addtional star.
Best Mexican in the Eugene area. Coming from Southern California I've had a hard time finding decent Mexican food. Try the Chicken Chipotle. It's not on the menu but it is WONDERFUL! I agree about the shrimp being over cooked. It comes from the kitchen just right but the plates are so hot (temp not spice) that the shrimp keeps cooking & becomes over cooked. Great service and a nice bar.
