Although a book club member and typically a favorite spot for me, tonight was a disappointing night at JBW.  The staff was rude, it was a "reservation only" night.  The hostess followed me in when I was looking to see if my other party member was inside like I had was a pick-pocket.  The patio seating offered was inadequate as the heaters were not on when it was a cold windy night.  Very disappointing, John!  Your loss is Tagaris' gain.

Every time I come here I get great wine, great food, and great service.  Can't beat that!  I no longer live in the area so it's a shame I can't come here as often as I'd like, but whenever I'm back in town visiting I always come here with friends.
The pros of this place are endless, besides the good wine, food, and service, they have good live music a few days a week, a great patio and a few outdoor gazebos beneath some vines that overlook some small plots of wine grapes.  They also have outdoor bocce ball courts and a croquet set to smack some balls around with friends.  Just an overall terrific place to bring any group, large or small.
One complaint I did have last time I came here was that they had gotten rid of their fantastic cheese fondue spread that I used to order all the time, and now it's gone:/  Please bring that back!!!  I'll keep coming here regardless, but I really think that should be put back on the menu!

I have been many times at bookwalter in the last 5 years, and I saw them growing. More sitting options, specially outside when the weather allows. They gradually added more food options to their menu, not always good though ! The only thing that they kept constant, is their price increase rate ! Their wines are not bad, but waaaay overpriced !
Now they have a full restaurant menu, the food is ok. Tiny portions !! Don't get me wrong I'm not comparing them to the xxl burrito with rice and beans in any mexican restaurant !! I'm just saying that when they charge $30 for their New York steak, I would like to see more than just a spoon of mashed potatoes and my steak (cold) sitting on a tiny plate !!!
Anyway, all in all food is OK, wine is OK. Overpriced, but great outdoor sitting options !
