The salsa was a little tomatoey. But the place was packed for lunch, and that is always a good sign.
I got a chicken jaliscochango, a chimichango with a jalisco sauce. It was very tasty, and not as heavy as I thought it would be once I actually saw it. I was very pleased with the food.
The primary clientel seemed to be the oil field workers from the refinery across the street, so it was extremely busy.
A peculiar little stop in the middle of nowhere.
The place looks like a run-down Tex-Mex honky-tonk diner, but the food was surprisingly good. Â $1.25 per huge taco stuffed with your choice of meats--lengua, cabeza, carnitas, al pastor, etc.--and complimentary chips and salsa. Â The meats were tasty and the salsa was fresh. Â The tortillas weren't great, but with the total for my meal coming in at $5 including drink, I can't complain.
If I happen to be driving through again, I'll stop here.
