This is a great place and the food is always good. I've been a number of times and they are always welcoming. It can a bit loud when they have an entertainer on the stage but what else would you expect. Â Good range of beers and you should try the gorgonzola crisps, they are excellent. Good burgers too.
Review Source:Stopped in here for lunch and beers after finishing the Death Race this past weekend. Granted, it's off season (and was a Monday) in Killington, so we were the only patrons in the place. But the selection of microbrews on tap was great, and the food was pretty damn good for bar food.
Love the atmosphere and interior. The games and couches and TVs made everything really cozy. I could see myself wanting to hang out here for hours on a winter night. But on a hot summer day, the deck was a brilliant place to hang out, drink some beers, and take in the Killington views.
We were looking for a family friendly bar with food, drink, and a TV display that had the Knicks playing against the Heat on a gigantic display. Turns out that JAX Food & Games had all three. The kids could stay around until 10PM and the staff was amiable enough to give us a seat in the crowded, noisy establishment.
It's a bustling place with a majority of the patrons being skiers and/or boarders. The bathrooms are Vermontly public (that would never be allowed in NY) and there's a big, old pool table in a side room. The staff goes as quick as they can - I can't blame them for the amount of people. I ate the teriyaki chicken sandwich, which was unfortunately dry. The sauce sucked and the chicken was far from having even just one crisp crunch to it. The fries were amazing though. There was little salt on them, yet I couldn't help from shoveling each fried sliver down the gullet. I finished up my meal with a half eaten chicken sandwich and to little amazement, the fries were no longer in existence. Some dude came in around 930PM and started playing these rancid tunes; probably not that Duane Carleton guy that the other Yelpers were ravishing about. There's a few other games like that wacky safari hunt game, which swallowed all my quarters. Kept me occupied during my wait for a booth.
The Sam Adams on tap tasted like sweet bread.
Duane Carleton plays every Sunday night here, he's one of the best entertainers in the Killington area. Â Jax has a good selection of beers on tap; lots of local ones and some randoms. Â It's a great place to watch a game, since there are tons of tv's including a huge projection screen. Â It's a locals favorite, so that speaks for itself. Â i have never tried the food here, but if you go to a sports bar, expect sports bar food: fried whatever with mayo something on it. Â would have given it 5 stars, but it is affiliated with the Pickle Barrel.
Review Source:Jax has a nice selection of micro brews on draft, stiff drinks, a pool table, air hockey, live music, big buck hunter and late-night food. The crowd really varies from weeknights to weekends. I prefer weeknights when a good crowd of local ski bums are holding it down verses Saturday nights when the crowd can get a little rowdy when Yankees/Red Sox fans go at it after being kicked out of the Pickle Barrel night club next door.
Atmosphere: Pool table, low lighting, live music, air hockey, and buck hunter. Outside deck with tables and a view of the mountain for warmer days and nights in the spring/summer.
Tip: Jax is the only bar in Killington, VT that serves food late night, year around, it's nothing special but it will hit the spot if you've been on the road for a few hours and nothing else is open.
I can only comment on the bar experience (never had the food), but I came with a huge group of friends on a Friday night and had an amazing time.  Good beer selection, efficient and friendly bar staff, fun games, chill atmosphere.  Staff went  WAY above and beyond to help me find a missing credit card (which I found).
