Jelly Beans - great name
The good:
Location - Right in Painted Post where rts 15, 17 and more come together just outside of Corning NY. Â
Type - Diner - Â They have a typical diner menu, although not all encompassing which I usually find means they make those things well. The ingredients are fresh and good. Â
Seating - They have counters, booths and tables. Â
People - Know many clientele by name. Â
Cute jellybeans come with check. Â It's a nice thing. Â
The neutral -
Music - honkytonk playing but not too loud.
The irritating -
Slightly overpriced - just a little though. Â
Won't seat you at booth as a single even when not close to full
Staff is remarkably casual and slow. Â They don't get your order for quite some time. Â Food comes in a timely fashion. Â But then they don't take away plate for ages and getting a check is another process. Â
I know in the morning when they are busier it's different and faster etc. Â but early evening was slow. Â Ill come back in the morning but not sure about an evening meal again. Â
Parking is easy. Â It's right off major roads so location is great. Â
4 stars for food, 2 for service. Â 3 overall.
We were on the road heading south from the Corning Glass Museum and decided to hit this place before we headed down to Annapolis.
All in all an excellent experience. Â the place is very kid friendly with jelly bean decorations all over. Â The menu is extensive serving b-fast, lunch and dinner all day. Â I enjoyed my creamed chip beef and my youngest enjoyed her deep friend macaroni. Â Not the lowest calorie lunch but the food was well made comfort food.
what a nice surprise. Â We got off the highway for gas and saw this place. Â Quickly saw enough positive YELP reviews to take a chance. Â Nothing fancy. Â Just simple diner food. Â Tasty. Â I had the meatball sandwich. Â Lunch service was quick even on a packed Father's Day. Â Waitress very friendly.
Review Source:This place is great. My wife and I enjoyed a really nice dinner with our 10week old at Jelly Beans. Coming here was easy, the staff were really accommodating and the family friendly setting was definitely appreciated. My wife got a cheese burger and I had an awesome liver and onions special (yes I know not everyone likes liver and onions but its awesome...try it). We were both happy with our meals and sides ( mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes fries). The meal arrived quickly and as I said before, the staff was awesome.
Lastly, we really enjoyed the dessert we shared, a peach/strawberry/pineapple crumble. Was served warm with ice cream on top. It rocked.
Appreciate the nice meal Jelly Beans offered, a really genuine restaurant. Definitely recommend.
Found Jelly Beans via Yelp while traveling. Looking for a good place to eat that was kid friendly. Found the portions to be generous and the food quite good. The staff was friendly and willing to work with us when my wife ordered something wrong and they did it without any extra charge.
We will come back here again when in town.
Finally found this fast food alternative half way through our regular long drive. Food is diner, slightly better than straight Sysco-diner-in-a-box. Atmosphere is great, service good, colorful and both family friendly and adult-beverage serving. Large clean bathroom with baby unit in the mens. We will be visiting regularly as we drive past on 15.
Edit: On our most recent visit, it was clear that they have 1-2 interesting specials each night. We didn't partake as we happened to be in the mood for basics, but that is an option.
We stopped her en-route from Canada to DC. Yelp reviews helped us pick a locally owned restaurant, rather than a chain!
LOVE the decor - and the waitress was very helpful and thoughtful.
The food was typical diner, with very generous portions, and everything was freshly made there. Very tasty.
Great to have Jelly Beans with the check!
Definitely come back when we do the road trip again!
Fairly standard diner fair. Really great chicken Caesar pita stuffed with almost too much chicken! Good luck trying to eat the whole thing! They have the best pickle fries (deep fried pickle wedges). And in a world where this is becoming more prevalent, theirs stand out BC of the dill batter they use. Sooooooo good!
Review Source:So glad we found this place!! The food is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Â Everything was super fresh and the prices were great. Â We were traveling on business and this little gem of a restaurant made the trip so much better!! We looked forward to breakfast everyday. The French toast is amazing!!!!
