Spent one night on a platform at the mill, went tubing down the Dan and listened to live local music. We loved our stay. The bathrooms were relatively clean (just a bit muddy because of rain). The platform was like staying in a tree house. The 3 hour tubing (which was only 90 minutes due to a speedy river) was absolutely beautiful. The music drew many locals and we enjoyed eavesdropping on folks reminiscing on bringing corn to the mill as children and watching a group of women dance in local style to the music. The place holds a real sense of history and community. I recommend it to families, couples, and those not sure about camping. A day trip to go tubing would be fun too. It's only about 50 minutes from Winston Salem, NC. There are showers with hot water, grills, a sink, and some snacks available. We'll be going back.
