  I rented a cottage at Joe Wheeler state park. It was on the river. It was the best I have stayed at in Alabama. The cottages are 1 year old. They had cable, DVD player, very nice kitchen and bedrooms and bathroom. The ac was great too. They also have a pier  where you can fish and you could rent a pontoon boat. The pool at the lodge was nice. The only thing that wasn't so great was the beach. The bathroom at the beach was dirty. I would recommend it.

  Sugar Bear and I stayed here a few years ago during one of our trips to Rogersville. We were pleasantly surprised! It is a rustic lodge with spacious, clean accommodations. Our suite had a mini kitchen in it.
  
  During our stay, the lodge was pretty crowded due to the huge fishing tournament. It was a really fun place to stay though!
  
  Highly recommended.
