I have been going to this restaurant since the day they opened, and I have yet to be disappointed.
The staff is extremely friendly and have made my girlfriend and I almost feel like family. Â Their food is great and is served in a timely manner. Â The facility itself is always clean and has a nice atmosphere.
They recently opened a small bar next door. Â The alcohol at the bar is a little more expensive than the other local bars, but the higher prices keep the riff-raff out, which is fine by me.
My favorite meal there is the Burrito Especial with Chili Colorado. Â Like everything on their menu, the portions are large and I always leave there full and satisfied.
They're a little cheaper then other Mexican restaurants around here, and the food is okay. The people who work there are really nice, and get the food out pretty quick. Â They just built a bar on to the restaurant so they must be doing well. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but it looks cool!
Review Source:This is a solid Mexican restaurant. Â
The chips are hot, the salsa is a little tomatoey but spicy, the hot carrots are pretty good and the service is Excellent.
To be honest I almost didn't come back to Josie's after my first two visits. Â The food was not good, but I think they were struggling with just opening and not having their processes/recipes down. Â Then I decided to give them one more shot and they seemed to get it together. Â
The chili verde is delicious! Â I've been looking for really good verde ever since LaNita's decided to change their recipe and destroy the one last good thing they had on their menu. Â The fajitas and carne asada are also excellent as are the beans and rice they serve as sides on almost every dish.
I'm excited to go back and try other dishes and, hopefully, kick up my rating a star or two. Â :-)
It wasn't the worst but it wasn't my favorite. Â We went for a lunch as a group on a weekday. Â I got the crispy taco lunch special, it came with One mediocre taco - the shredded beef didn't really have much flavor, with beans and rice. Â The rice was greasy and the beans were salty - for $9.99! Yikes! Â The chips are warm and fresh but the salsa is mostly tomato paste. Â The Carne Asada fries were delicious and huge for $6.99. My boss got the chicken tortilla soup- it was also delicious and $6.99. Â When it arrived it was covered on cilantro which she hates, the server took it right away and got her a new one. Â The good and bad evened out - ill give it another try.
Review Source:Try it for yourself before you believe any negative reviews here. Â I have been here at least 5 times since my last review and the place and the food just gets better. Â My family loves it. Â Such a great place in Atwater. Â Service is excellent, Margartias are very good and in better sized glasses now. Â The waiters and waitresses look just fine and are very friendly. Â Only complaint: Spicier salsa please!!
Review Source:I've been searching for good Mexican food for awhile. Most of the places I've ate at in the area has left me disappointed. Â I saw this place in passing and decided to give it a try. It is the best Mexican food I have ate in a long time! The service was prompt and seating casual. They took my drink order and brought chips and fresh salsa and vegetables- which were all very good. I ordered a carne asada burrito with verde sauce. The meat was cut generously and was tender and spiced perfectly. Â It came with sides of beans and rice- both exceptionally good. Guacamole was amazing! I left very full and happy! Will definitely eat here again and bring my family.
Review Source:Best Mexican restaurant in Atwater!! Â Chile Verde was AWESOME and it's hard to find great verde. Â Enchiladas were good, flautas were huge and slightly disappointing was the carne asada taco which happen to be a bit plain in flavor. I will try it again as it may just been an off that day. Â We usually know whether the food is going to be great or not by the spanish rice. Â So hard to get it right and very flavorful. Â The spicy carrots are a nice treat. Â Normally won't eat that stuff but here we do. Â Owner is great in attending to every table, margaritas are huge and it's very vibrant inside. Â At some point, they might need to go to a bigger spot as it seems to be getting more and more crowded so get there early so you don't have to wait as long for a table. Â Look forward to trying many more dishes!
Review Source:Very good first experience here.
J have a chili relleno, enchilada, and a ground beef taco.
The relleno was perfect. Not a lot of egg batter, not a huge thick chili, and sauced perfectly.
The enchalada was a little odd. Â It appeared as if they just stuffed a corn tortilla with beef and covered it in a canned sauce, then put it on it in my plate.
The taco was very well prepared and was yummy.
The hot carrots were much too crunchy, but the salsa was awesome and appeared to be made in house
Ill definitely eat here again.
went to this restuarant a few weekends ago and the food was great! the prices-vs-the amount served were a little over priced. the one down side was we were seated quickly but no one came to take our order for 20 minutes until we asked them and while we ate no one refilled our drinks until we asked... food= b+ service=d price=c
Review Source:After reading the reviews on this place, I have concluded Merced people must stick together, because the food horrible! The rice was like mush, and half of the tortilla chips were stale. I did not try the margaritas but I guess I should have then maybe this place would have been palatable. The food is way over priced, and the staff looked disheveled. One more question! Who arranged the place? The front door is blocked off and the side door entrance opens onto an awkward cash register/faux bar that looks unkept, and to boot the seating arrangement has lots of patrons sitting facing this awkward faux area, which is in front of the very open kitchen. Who enjoys watching gang banger looking guys with facial hair that is not cover making their food? I know I don't! We are in the central valley bad mexican food should NOT happen!
Review Source:Josie's has awesome chili verde! Â I really hope this place makes it, we don't have any dining options in that part of town, aside from fast food. Â The restaurant is very clean and the service is attentive. Â The food came out quickly and tasted very fresh, especially their rice. Â I am intrigued by the huge bar, I didn't notice it until I was leaving otherwise I would ahve ordered a drink with my meal. Â I look forward to eating here again, the menu is large and varied.
Review Source:I went during lunch and of course by the picture I'm sure some of you are thinking, "Wait, I don't see a stock bar!," However, this place is still in process of opening and have not yet had their grad opening just yet. So by then, I'm sure they will have a fully stocked bar. I love the ambiance since the space is not that big but with the green color scheme opens it up. Upon entering, you can either choose to sit at the dining area or the bar. I sat at the bar area and my friend Greg was  bartending. The menu was HUGE, also they serve breakfast!
There was another patron dining at the bar and he just kept yapping every time I asked my friend what sounds good...I should be nice since he did tell me the green enchilada is worth getting, in his words, "HELLA GOOD!" Who could deny that statement right?! LOL So yes we ordered the green enchiladas with carne asada  and the burrito especial (with chile colorado). The chips and dip was pretty good. The chips are made fresh so that earns a star. The salsa was pure chili, with seeds and everything, so if you can't stand the heat then ask for something a little more mild. Our food was delicious! My carne asada was pretty flavorful! The burrito especial was the best flavored so far by my company. The bartender also whipped up delicious drinks with what he had to work with lol. So over all, I'm glad ATWATER finally has a decent mexican place! I will come again! So if you are driving by, stop and have something to eat since it's off the freeway!
