I had to try the J Filet. Â That should be the best thing on the menu at a steakhouse right? Â It was ok, flavor was decent and great grill marks for a medium filet. Â It came with a salad, wild rice, and green bean medly. Â Wish the green beans had a little more flavor on them. Â Seemed like they were steamed but no salt, pepper, butter, etc.
The atmosphere was great. Â I was by myself and didn't feel strange sitting there. Â Granted it was a Tuesday night so they weren't busy. Â Parking is right on the street and plenty of it.
Good but not great! Food was hot but lacked in some areas. Kind of a want to be high end steakhouse but not. They were out of some common items early in the evening. Service a little slow and they auto add a heathy tip to the bill. Portions were good sized ....calamari appetizers were very good
Review Source:Their "Under $8 Lunch Menu" is awesome!
I think I just found my new favorite lunch place here in Norfolk. Where can you get a cup of soup, a huge sandwich, AND chips for $5.99?? Full load meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans for $7.99? They are serving dinner size portion food and charging you at a price of lunch. Says who I can't have a hearty dinner for lunch? They are this generous and friendly.
The ambiance is fancy but allows you to be casual during lunch. The restaurant is quiet and service is great. They have an outdoor sitting during warmer months which is good for big groups.
I haven't gone there for dinner to try out their steaks yet but it is definitely on my to-do list next time I'm back in town!
This is a casual/upscale place. You can sit casually in the bar side and eat the same food as a little more formal linen service on the dining room side.
We had appetizers... one was Thai Lavosh. Nice to see that in Northern NE. Â : ) Â It was very good... chicken, peanuts, sweet sauce, tomatoes, basil. We also had Blue Chips... homemade potato chips with blue cheese sauce. Really good. I know I know... not exactly health food, but come on! Blue Cheese and me go way back. I love it.
Speaking of blue cheese, I had it again with my salad. The dinner salads here are simple mixed greens and the dressing of your choice. That is the way I like them.
The ribeye I had was ordered medium and delivered about medium rare. That is okay with me as long as the steak is warm throughout and it was. The grill marks were beautiful. I wish the meat lived up to the appearance, but it reminded me of the USDA choice cuts I have at home. That is to say, okay at best. There is a lot fat but not a lot of marble. The steaks are not tough, but not super-tender either. There is a reason lesser cut that are marinated like flat iron, skirt, and flank are more and more popular these days. They flat out taste better in many cases. I may try some fish next time here... as I think they can grill stuff just fine.
I have to bump up the rating here to 4 stars because of atmosphere and a decent menu (not a book... two pages of diverse flavors and good food).
Nice new restaurant...great bar and bar area, outdoor patio, live music, and a nice dining room. Â Food was good, not great, but good. Â Service was friendly. Â Only open for a few months. Â They have another location in Fremont.
Filet was pretty good. Â Caesar salad was disappointing.
I'd give them another try on my next visit to Norfolk.
