I guess I am not sure what I was expecting when we went to Judi's, but it wasn't what we got. Out of ten tables on a Friday night, we were the only guests under the age of 70. I got roasted chicken and it was pretty good but not the type of meal I would get on vacation. This is something I would eat on Sunday when I want home cooking. My husband got the ribs, which were tasty. It was obvious the by the way the servers were interacting with the other guests that this is a place for locals, and for older clientele. I would have given three stars but the decor reminds me of a nursing home. It just wasn't the atmosphere we were looking for to enjoy a nice meal, it's screaming for an update. Not for the thirty something crowd.

Good food but a little over priced.  The service is excellent.  The waitress just loved our little boy.

Arrived for dinner and was seated immediately at a very nice table. Was greeted warmly by bartender/server Dodi. She took our drink orders and was gracious in making our mixed drinks. She then told us about the drink specials and gave us her recommendations. The food was fabulous and great comfort dinner. Did feel that the prices were a little high but overall the experience was wonderful.

My husband and I have been here a handful of times. Most recently was for our anniversary.  We have tried the ribs, salmon (which they don't serve anymore), steak, spaghetti and cod.  Everything is wonderful.  They make homemade croutons for the salad and now have handmade ice cream.  I had the butterscotch chocolate chip and it was amazing.  The service is quick and it's a small, quiet atmosphere.  You can eat inside or out on the patio.  Would definitely recommend.

Judi, judi, Judi...mixed review.  The ribs were everything they claim to be.  We loved them.  The trout was good, but bland.  The special side was a baked sweet potato and it was wonderful.  Fresh green leaf salad.  Homemade, crispy croutons made from their bread.
Their desserts are special, but worth the interminable wait?  We highly recommend the pecan pie, butter brickle choc chip cheesecake, and homemade ice cream.
Dinner took a full two hours and we eat pretty fast because we waited a long time in between on hard chairs.  There was no service staff and our waitress, with a distinct personality, was doing everything.

REcommended by the concierge at our hotel, and very disappointing food.  The service staff were wonderful, and gracious and so helpful.  But it can't make up for the quality of the food.  The fish and chips - batter was kind of corn meally rather than crispy and flaky.  The cole slaw was good though heavy on the mayo.  Husband ordered Beef Burgundy with pasta and it was rather bland and he didn't care for it.
It's an institution in Sedona, but they need a new chef to update menu and recipes.

The ribs were perfectly done, but lacked any smoked taste. I hoped for more. I agree with dana G., almost kinda fine dining, wish to be better. Still, good eating in Sedona is difficult to find. This is ok.

Good American food. Friendly service.  The lamb shank was delicious, the ribs were tasty with a pleasant BBQ sauce.  The food was straightforward, unfussy and good.

We stopped by here looking for desert and were told it was one of they higher end restaurants in town.  The prices certainly were, but the food was not.  They were however kind enough to seat us just for desert, even though they stopped serving main dinner.

They were ok. General choices of beard pudding, ice cream sunday, butter brickel pie, and a few others. They were kind of like the thing you'd get in a chain restaurant like Marie Callendars.

Big, overly sweet - not a ton of flavor, the cheap kind of whipped cream, mostly a large sugar delivery system.

We came away feeling bloated after only 1/2 of a bread pudding and butter brickle pie.

I also had a port - expensive, but  it was the low end type tasted like Grahams 6 grape.

    The service was nice though.

It's almost kinda fine dining with a wish to be something better....did that make sense?  A fine dining wanna-be restaurant.  The food was passable for dinner.  I have no idea what lunch is like.  But on the positive side, it has a very warm and romantic ambiance.

The concierge (judging by the reviews, it looks like this place pays the resort staffs) said the best fine dining in Sedona.

    Poor Sedona!

Wine glasses - 99 cents each at any store.  The wines - expensive!  (Red label scotch was $18.00 - does that tell you anything?)

The finest ribs in the world - way overdone and the sauce was unlike any sauce I've ever tasted.  Not to my liking.  The accompanying fries were frozen.  The seafood in pasta with vodka sauce was pure fettucine alfredo with 4 tiny scallops and a couple of shrimp thrown in.

In a class with Outback, Applebees, Chili's on one of their bad nights!

    Poor Sedona!

We didn't get a chance to eat there, but it's definitely a destination spot for us next time we are in Sedona.  The food smelled wonderful coming out of the kitchen and the menu looked fantastic.  We stopped in for only a couple drinks to waste some time before an event.  I'm so glad we did!  It's small and quaint and decorated lovely.  There are only 5 seats at the bar.  The set up of the restaurant seemed like 4 little dining rooms.  Very cute.  Can't wait to try their food.

We didn't try the food but stopped in their quaint lounge. Service was great and very accommodating. On a side note, the smell of the food was phenomenal.

Nice, cozy restaurant.  Courteous waitress.  Member of <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurant.com&s=c5fe485af4df376130bee54f875814d79c4d7913e1258123b1206d2bdbf4873b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurant.com</a>.
Food for the most part is tasteless.  Prime Rib (medium) had no taste and was tough.  Prime Rib (medium rare) was rare, not medium rare, and tasteless.  Au Jous was a tasteless broth.  Cajun shrimp dish was far from cajun spicey, rather bland and quantity was small.  Lamb shank was good.
Judi's is famous for short ribs and as an appetizer they were pretty good, but nothing to be famous for.  Could easily buy store BBQ sauce and cook up just as tasty a dish.
Cup of soup could be better described as tea cup of soup, very small cup.  Manhattan clam chowder was runny and short on ingredients.
Dessert menu quite good and the rum pudding was tasty and generous.
Party of four spent 165.00 and thanks to <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurant.com&s=c5fe485af4df376130bee54f875814d79c4d7913e1258123b1206d2bdbf4873b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurant.com</a> certificate brought the price down to a semi-reasonable level.  Otherwise, the price would havve been way, way too high.  Considering the overall experience, we would not return to Judi's.

Wished we had gone back for dinner... we picked up sandwiches for a picnic lunch, with a side of sweet potato fries. The sandwich, not on their online menu, was a chicken bread and veggie combination topped with feta - VERY good. Unfortunately, the fries were limp - like they had been sitting around awhile. We sampled them as soon as we got in the car, so it's not like they sat around.

Nice wait staff, and very accommodating. The only turn-off was a sexually-oriented poster in the ladie's bathroom.... what are they thinking?!

    Would I recommend them? Yes!
    Would I go back?  YES!

We love going to Judi's when we're in Sedona. Talk about awesome ribs! The meat falls off the bone and they're smothered in the best BBQ sauce I've ever had. The bread basket that comes before the meal is always full of variety, flavorful and hearty and the butter soft and spreadable. I can't speak to the rest of the menu because we always order the ribs. Choose a table outside for a more private and romantic dinner. Even when you sit outside the service is quick and attentive!

all of the breads were good and my hamburger was awesome, one of the top five hamburgers i ate in sedona! i think everyone else liked their food except my father-in-law because there was "not enough sauce" on his chicken parmigiana.

    FLAVORLESS!

Upon arriving at our hotel (Sedona Summit), our reservation was lost or according to the concierge was booked mistakenly due to a virus that they had with their computer. So as a sign of apology, they gave us a voucher for $50 to dine at Judi's.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the voucher we would've never given this place a try. So we did and let's just say the $50 dollars eased the pain of the bill and flavorless food.

We ordered the Bacon Wrapped Fried Chicken Liver (in my opinion, you can't go wrong with anything fried, but boy was I wrong). The appetizer lacked the taste and smell of bacon.  The flavor was overpowered by the bitterness of the chicken liver.  Thank goodness they gave us some honey mustard as a dipping sauce to make it easier to swallow.

My girlfriend got the Pork Picatta which was okay except for the fact that they put a ton of capers in it, which made it taste like you were eating a Sour Patch Kid. The pieces of pork were thin and small. The side of pasta with marinara is no better than what one could do at home.

I was tempted to try their BBQ Baby Back Ribs, but I am from Texas and let me make this loud and clear...the best BBQ is not found in Arizona, that would be Texas. I then decided on the Lamb Shank upon recommendation of our waitress (a very nice lady by the way). While it was very tender and what not, it lack ed tons of flavor. It literally tasted like a piece of Lamb Shank that has been slowly cooking in a pressure cooker with no seasoning whatsoever.

My girlfriend's mom ordered the Judi's Fettucine Alfredo which was no better than what you can get at Olive Garden and we will leave it at that.

Perhaps the best dish that night was the Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon my girlfriend's dad ordered. It was cooked medium rare which is how he likes it. I tried a piece at the end because I don't like my steaks rare. It was very tender and really did just melt in your mouth. Too bad it was too small to feed all four of us.

Thank goodness for the $50 voucher, otherwise this place would've been a complete waste of money.

Just as another reviewer wrote, the concierge at the place I was staying at suggested this place as a "great restaurant to have dinner at". Also, as stated previously, they are "famous" for their BBQ Baby Back Ribs.

Since I had no urge to get my hands messy over bbq ribs, I decided to try something with a moderate price (at $15). I got the Beef Burgundy which consisted of beef tips in a brown sauce with mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers over fettuccini noodles served with steamed carrots and broccoli on the side.

The portion was just enough, not too little and not too much.

At first, this sounded appetizing, however when I asked for "no bell peppers" in the pasta, the waitress told me that the sauce is already pre-made. This sort of caught me off guard and made me wonder what else isn't exactly made-to-order.

It was not that this discovery overall disappointed me. What disappointed me, however, was that the thoroughly cooked beef tips were very -- and I mean very -- dry. The dryness may not be noticeable when first looking at the beef, but when you try to chew on a piece, you suddenly have no urge to eat their beef anymore.

One thing that stood out amidst this somewhat disappointing meal was the steamed vegetables. I'm not sure what the carrots and broccoli are cooked in, but they sure were appetizing. This was just about one of the only times I finished the vegetables without finishing the meat on my plate.

I believe Judi's has a bit of a self-image problem.  From the outset, the 50s diner typeface is underscored by "restaurant and lounge."  Our concierge recommended Judi's, claiming it was a "local place" that was good for ribs.  When she mentioned that the attire was casual, we assumed it to be a bbq joint.  Instead, it reminded me more of the supper clubs that are scattered throughout the rural Midwest, complete with a Friday Fish Fry and prime rib special, and interiors that reminded us of my grandmother's living room (yarn fringe on the windows, clay pheasant knickknacks).  While their ribs were touted as being "the most famous in the Universe," (why do restaurants insist on claiming such absurdities?!), we found them to be pretty standard.
