We went here to shoot some pool and drink a couple beers on a Saturday evening. Â We were a little skeptical since a lot of the reviews talked about bad service and sometimes attracting a rough crowd.
Our experience did not reflect what the reviews warned about.
The waitress immediately came over to the pool tables and too our drink orders. Â The three pool tables were in good shape for a bar, although the cue selection was pretty bad.
After playing pool we sat down and order a couple burgers. Â Once again, the waitress was prompt, our food came quickly, and the burgers were rather good. Â It was a pleasant surprise and I would grab a beer here again if I didn't live 1,200 miles away.
Yes, Kelly's is the only bar in Clovis. But not the only place you can drink and get a decent meal. But if you had to eat at Kelly's. I would recommend 2 steaks for 1 on Tuesday. Not only did the steaks get bigger but they are juicy and delicious. The steak also comes with a salad and baked potato. Not bad at all. If your just wanting a snack with your drinking. Then the sampler plate is an easy choice.
The music and night scene is more Country Music and less hip hop or dub step dancing. Still the only bar, so enjoy while this is still around. I gave the bar 3 stars because it's as average as it gets for New Mexico. Plus the fact that there is no jukebox or doors on the bathroom stalls hurt the score for me. You can smoke outside in the covered Patio. Plus they don't mind the use of electronic cigarettes inside.
It's a bar that serves up some pretty decent food. Â Was blown away by their green chili cheeseburgers and french fries. Â Not a bad place to go for lunch or after work. Â They have mostly domestic beers on tap, but they are cold and tasty. Â They just got Sam Adams Boston Lager on tap! Â Seniors and Military discounts.
