I used to love this place when I was a kid, before the great hipster invasion of 2005. From then on, it was basically a turnstyle for snotty "i'm better than you" hires and lackluster service.

Here's a hint Coffeetree, hire people with good attitudes, just because they wear horn rimmed black glasses doesn't mean they're good at customer service.

So first I looked this place up on Yelp. After walking 4 miles along the river my wife and I were starved since it was 1:30 and no food all day. They had 2 specials, Tuna sanwich and Mozzarella and Tomatoes. Wife order the Tuna and well no tuna! She then ordered the Mozzarella and Tomatoes and no tomatoes? The girl at the counter was really bored and not very interested. So I order the Ham and Swiss and wife ordered the Turkey. Ok we are in Kentucky so where is my Kentucky ham? They had a biscut and Kentucky ham so where is my Kentucky ham? Bread on both sandwiches were stale as was my Iced tea! Wifes sandwich was boring also! Nothing like going out to lunch and getting food that you could have made better at home.  Potatoe salad was the only good thing. And now my stomach is gurgling! Won't be returning.

Probably won't be going back after my last few visits. A lot of the staff seem to be uninterested hipsters that have no desire to do anything. The last time I went there was a Saturday and ordered a coffee. The only thing the guy behind the counter did was run my credit card. I then had to get my cup, squeeze my coffee out of the urn, put on the lid and sleeve and even tear my receipt off the printer. I'd rather go to Starbucks, and that's terrible.

This place was a life saver when traveling through town/the Bourbon Trail on a Sunday.  We were looking for a nice, local lunch and everything coming up on Yelp was closed!

I thought the food was good, service was friendly, but with only one person working, it did take a bit to get our orders, but we weren't in a huge hurry; and we browsed the book store and shop flanking this place.

Service could have been a little friendlier, but the coffee I got was super tasty.  Has the nice laid back feel of a neighborhood coffee shop, mostly because that's exactly what it is.

When our other lunch spot was closed, my husband and I stopped here in between bourbon tours.  Hubs had a roast beef sandwich and I went with chicken salad.  Both were really tasty.  While I know it's not a special thing in Kentucky, but we were really stoked to get Ale-8 from the cooler to drink.  Being from Atlanta, we felt we were getting a treat!  I would definitely go back.

I had the grilled eggplant sandwich which was piping hot and grilled to perfection with a side of apple slices. I really liked that there was more than your standard fare here, and eggplant fit the bill for my veggie desires.

The fruit smoothies were good, but it's fruit that's blended--can you go wrong?

What really makes this place is the location and the ease of slipping into the cozy bookstore it's attached to. That charm alone makes this a great Saturday lazy-spot (my new word). Sandwich was $6.50, but it came with an apple, so I suppose that's not so bad in price.

Was recently in Frankfort on business and desperately in need of some caffeine with not a lot of time to spare. The hotel I was staying at had undrinkable coffee that tasted a bit like hot urine. I had spied the Coffeetree the evening before, while having dinner at a nearby bistro, so I headed that direction. The two lovely ladies running the place made me a latte and also toasted a wheat bagel with cream cheese. The music was a great mix that ranged from Blur to Wilco and Andrew Bird. I enjoyed it all in a comfy chair and left for my meeting feeling awake and refreshed. If you're in Frankfort this is a must for anyone looking for good coffee and great atmosphere.

We were drawn to the Coffeetree Cafe based on reviews and being in the area. It appeared to be a place with character and it was busy, so we thought that would be a good sign. We were greeted with a "yes, what can I get you?," so of course no "thank you." After ordering, we went to find a seat but all were either taken or hadn't been cleared. A patron later cleared the tables - huh? Egg and cheese bagel was nothing special, could have used some veggies or sauce to liven it up. Grilled eggplant sandwich was bland, pesto was tasteless, and there was very little eggplant. Red potato salad was the saving grace side item, although it could have used some salt and pepper. Coffee toffee frappe came later after we asked for it again. Decent toffee flavor, although it was missing the whipped cream on top. Coffeetree was not very clean, and we noticed no hot water in the bathroom which made us wonder if this is why we felt queasy afterwards...

Came here looking for a place to eat while on the bourbon trail. There was honestly nothing open so luckily we drove by this place! They had a bunch of lunch options for a decent price...they were surprisingly good and filling. Cute seating areas inside too. Try the black bean wrap

This place has a great location, right across the street from the lawn of the old Kentucky Capitol building. Indoor seating, surrounded by books, couches, tables, nooks, and friendly people. Super nice to just sit and chill or meet someone cause it's so easy to find.

Great atmosphere, and attached to two shops--literally. There are open doors inside the building to both adjacent shops. One's a book store (Poor Richard's Books) with a "secret" attic of lots of aged books, and one's a shop (Completely Kentucky) which sells nothing but Kentucky-made crafts, art, & food.

Kentucky Coffee Tree's food & flavored teas are great! Also veggie friendly. Sandwiches, sides, and some soups. A few unique bottled beers, and the famous Kentucky ginger ale,  Ale-8.

The coffee, however is not so fantastic. They serve hot and cold drinks, both pretty much under par. I'd suggest coffee at The Meetinghouse B&B 2 blocks north at Mero St & Anne St--their lattes are much better.

All in all, a wonderful little jewel of Frankfort!!

My wife and I visited Frankfort, and the Coffeetree Cafe had a great reputation.  Being the coffee fan that I am, I could not resist a trip to the cafe within walking distance of the Kentucky Historical Society.

And it's worth it.  My wife had the Papaya Passion fruit Tea, while I had the Hot Cocoa.  My wife raved about the tea all that day and into the next.  The cocoa I had was simply outstanding.  People who put that much effort in having great tea and excellent cocoa cannot possibly have bad coffee.

The environment was excellent, and there were plenty of seats.  They even had computers with Linux on it.  I was very impressed.

This place rocks. Great food, coffee, beer & dessert selection. Excellent listening room for live, acoustic music. Super friendly people.

The grilled eggplant panini was delicious. All the desserts I tried were great - I recommend the oatmeal raisin cookies w/ macadamia nuts.
