Felt like an alien when we walked into the place, definitely a local hangout and they were not welcome stares (from the customers).

The bar tender was cool though and recommended a delicious beer, didn't stick around to sample the food.

I like the decor, the food is decent, but at the same time nothing 'special'.  I would have liked to see more draft beers, with so many craft breweries in Michigan I think they should step up their game. But thank you keyhole for having purse hooks under the bar, that's always appreciated.

One of my favorite places in Mackinaw City - this time I ordered up the Perch Sandwich.   Three large size pieces of perch, with some iceberg/tomato/mayo, on a burger bun.   Very simple, yet sublime in it's flavor.   The perch was very fresh - and this is hard to fake.   Bar food at it's finest, and freshest.   Great service, and always a cold beer in my hand.

Great place! Fun atmosphere, cool decor and reasonably priced drinks and food. Me and a few friends had chicken strips and fries, they were good and served fast. My friend barfed all over our hotel room afterwards but that was from drinking too much of their delicious gun and tonics, not the food quality.

I was stuck in Mackinaw City on a charter. The locals recommended this place. The service was above average and the food above average. My rating probably reflects my desire to leave. Overall, it was better than the three previous places I ate at when on the trip.

We came here twice while camping at Mackinaw Mill Creek Campgrounds. This place is super unpretentious and the food was decent. We were glad this place existed because we definitely didn't prepare to cook food on our campfire.

What a nice find here in downtown Mackinaw City.  We arrived for dinner (party of 5) on a Sunday night.  There was a 15 minute wait or so, but that wasn't too surprising since we were in the middle of the summer tourist season.  The beers were cold and the food was quite good.

My steak was a good cut and cooked perfectly.  Not a ton of seasoning/flavor, but nothing a little A1 couldn't help with.  My wife's burger was very good as well.  Fresh meat, cooked to perfection.  The peel and eat shrimp was a big hit with everyone and we were really close to getting a 2nd order!  Mmmmm.

There was a pool table and a couple of fun games in the back to keep the kiddies occupied while we finished our dinners/drinks.  Lots of TVs all over so keeping an eye on the Olympics was easy.

The decor in this place was fantastic!  (I won't spoil it for any future visitors, but it's unlike anything I've ever seen before)

We'll be back next year for sure!

I'm not sure why this place has such great reviews. After a long day we decided to come here to get some dinner since it was quite close to where we were staying. When you go in you seat yourself at whatever table is empty. This place is surprisingly big with pool tables and other games in the back.
Food is basic bar food, nothing great. We started with the fried mushrooms which were quite bland. No spices or anything, just mushrooms dipped in a basic batter which was probably used for everything that they fry.
I had the chipotle chicken wrap. It was quite similar to something you would be able to get at a fast food joint.
Husband had a cheese steak wrap. His was super greasy on the outside and was dripping grease. While mine was barely warm, his was way too hot to eat. The onion rings he got with his wrap were dipped in the same bland batter as the mushrooms. His beer smelled like toilet water. Gross.
The people sitting at the bar were older local regulars who seemed to have been drinking for hours on end. Maybe we needed to be drunk to enjoy our meal as much as they.

    This place is alright!

It does have nice sports bar environment with good choices of food. The price is affordable, but just nothing in particular stood out during my visit here.

This is one of the coolest places that I've been to in a while. This place was recommended so we stopped in for dinner. Not expecting much from a bar that serves food, we didn't have high expectations but we were really blown away. The food was excellent. I had smothered chicken and my bf had a strip steak both of which were great.

If you dine in here, or are just having a drink, take the time to look around. There are tons of keys, key tags, key chains, etc. It is really cool and makes you wonder where they got it all from!

One of our favorite places to eat in Mackinaw City.  The whole city is so touristy it is nice to get out of it and eat some good honest food at decent bar.  The beer was cold and the service was quick and friendly.  The Cheboygan Light House Ale was awesome.

Good food, but service was horrid to say the least. If you are looking for good seafood and a burger this is a good choice. But be warned that the service is not very good and the place is on the dirty side.

This place is an oasis in the culinary desert of Mackinaw City.  Cold drafts, good nachos, quick, friendly service - what more could you want in a bar? We ran out of time or we would have stayed for dinner - it looked and smelled good.

I have been there a few times now. Food is great, though a tad pricey. Service is not great. Tracey is who we had this week- she took 15 minutes to come over and take our order. Once she did, she only came back to deliver it. No refills at all. Every time w tried to flag her down, she would turn and look away like she hadn't seen us at all. We had to go up and finally ask for our bill, then go back up to pay, and both times, she acted like we were inconvienceing her. As a former waitress, it was unacceptable to be so rude.

Next day, we found that our bill had an $8 extra tip tacked onto it over what we paid, which apparently, according to the bar, has been happening all summer. Now i have to deal with my bank to clear up her sticky fingers, because the bar won't do anything about it.

Great food, great drinks, but I'll never go back after that. Word of advice to the keyhole? Get a handle on your sticky fingered waitress.

Very friendly, good service. Husband enjoyed whitefish sandwich, I had grilled reuben. My favorite part of the meal were the onion rings which are homemade. Not greasy, not too much batter and the onions were biteable. Nice bar for a decent meal. Would go there again next time we're up there.

One good thing I can say is they had fast service and our waitress was decent...our potato skins were burnt but were home-made and still tasted pretty awesome.  Skip the nachos.  They came in a fajita pan and I seriously think I counted 5 tortilla chips after digging through the lettuce and giant cubes of onion.  My husband had baked fish and fries.  His response was, "If you like fish, you'll like this."  and explained later that the fish tasted very "fishy".  They don't carry local Michigan wine and the wine I had was flat and tasted like fermented water.  (should have gotten beer.)  They were PACKED during dinner time - we had to leave and come back a couple hours later.  I was expecting a dive...just don't have dinner there.

This has been one of my favorite spots in Mackinaw city for 2 decades now.  The sandwiches are delicious, try the whitefish and the reuben.  Also recommend the fried fish appetizer.  A must do in the City.  You will love the decor.

Food was OK. I had the Parmesan Encrusted Walleye.  It was good. Wife had fried shrimp, it was "just OK". Our daughter had a kids pizza that was fair. Son ordered clam chowder but they didn't have any so he ordered chicken noodle soup. After a very long wait our food showed up minus my son's soup. Waitress apologized, but after such a long wait, it seemed odd. She offered a fast response for whatever he wanted "on the house."  The service recovery was good.

Knowing that we were going to spend a night in Mackinaw City, I had been looking for a good restaurant for my parents and I to eat at.  I had actually been reading some of the reviews on Yelp and decided to give this place a shot.  I must say, I was really looking for more of a sit-down restaurant, but Mackinaw City really doesn't have much to offer in regards to sit-down.  This was one of the reasons we opted for this bar.

I definitely left satisfied after eating here. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was fun. It was more of a dive bar however, so do not expect anything fancy.  My food was delicious.  I had a whitefish sandwich with fries and coleslaw.  I loved every bit of it.  My mother ate some chicken fingers, and I was even impressed with those - a dish that most places can't get wrong.  They must have been using some quality chicken.

The only downside to this place was that it did not seem to have enough staff, but our waitress was diligent and served us as timely as she could.

If I am in Mackinaw City again, I will definitely revisit.

Great bar.  Watch for expensive ho-hum specials.  Paid way too much for fried perch.  Friendly bar staff. Neat place to visit.

Love this place. It's a must see. We have been there once and will return. It was our first stop on our way to the island.

The Keyhole has been around forever, and is much more of a local landmark than certain other places claim to be.  The current owners of the Keyhole have been there for over 25 years, and the Keyhole has been around since long before that.  It's relaxed, with good food and cheap drinks, and friendly staff.  It's got that dive bar feel and is a little smoky, but it's clean and, well... fantastic.  I'm not kidding when I say generations of my family have been patrons at the Keyhole.

It's funny that there are no reviews of this bar, because nearly ALL the reviews of the nearby Dixie Saloon suggest Mackinaw City folk skip Dixie and go straight to the Keyhole instead.

This is exactly what I hoped a dive bar in northern Michigan would be.  Only with more keys.

It was crowded and lively, but not loud or obnoxious.  It's pretty dark inside and sort of smoky--the smoking and non-smoking sections appear to run parallel to each other through the place, so not sure how much good that does.

Our server was valiant: she had a very serious looking arm injury (huge bandages up past the elbow) and could only bring our drinks one at a time, but she was attentive enough and friendly despite clearly being in pain.

The walls are COVERED with old keys (above the kitchen window "Keychyn" is spelled out IN KEYS), some with keychains, some without.  One of the tables is even shaped like a keyhole.  They RAN with this theme and it works.  We almost wanted to leave OUR keys to add to the collection, but then we would have had no way of getting home.

The Keyhole serves food (and late too, till at least 11) but we didn't eat any so I can't comment on it.

Will say: I am not a PBR fan, but they have it on tap for $1.50.  A pint of beer for $1.50??  Yes, it's true.

Our Dixie Saloon experience was sort of yooper-hipster-clubber-hilarious-weird, but the Keyhole was just chill.  Next time I find myself in Mackinaw City, I'd make a point to spend more time here and less elsewhere in town.
