Lovely setting for lunch. The grilled apricot  salad with goat cheese and Serrano ham was terrific. My hubby enjoyed the mussels. Service was very attentive. Kent is a beautiful old New England town.

The food here is good, not great but good.  Of the other reviews on Yelp, not one mentioned the price of the food.  I thought that this was to be a casual dinning experience but at these prices I doubt that I will go there.  Pork Chop for $26, Steak for $26 and then the most crazy price they have is when you order an "on the rocks" drink, you get charged an extra $2 for the "rocks".  For a Johhny Black the bill was $13.50 plus $2.00 for the ice.  Surely, they have to be thinking that casual mean something other than what I think it means.

I had wanted to get Jen to Kent for a while; it is in a beautiful area of Connecticut at almost any time of year. Of course, walking around, checking out the galleries and shops, food and drink became a subject so we decided to look around. Now, as a matter of fact, there are only a handful of places to choose from and Kingsley is almost right in the middle of town. We stopped and looked at the menu, it was brunch and we were hungry so we went in. Jen was good with The Kingsley Burger but I wanted to try something from the chefs specials and had the Shrimp & Grits. The burger was in the true style of a great burger: the bread was fresh, burger cooked right and the toppings were of the best quality. She gave it an enthusiastic thumbs up and with a good order of fries and beer, "what more could you ask for?" For me (and I lived south of the Mason Dixon Line for a few years), the Shrimp & Grits was a "spot-on" stand out (yeah, I had a pint of beer to go with that too). Honestly, I was so impressed with how good the meal was up to that point, I splurged (the calories I mean) for the special cobbler of "Fig, Apple & Cranberry with Streusel.

Jen and I were glad we tried the Kingsley Tavern. It will be a stop for us when we go back to Kent. We both agreed it was like having a "neighborhood place" away from home. The staff, service and food were great and I can't imagine anyone walking in and not finding the same welcoming experience.

As a vegetarian, if I want to eat anything more than salad & french fried, I usually can only count on ethnic places for eating out.

Kingley Tavern breaks all the rules - in the best possible way. Not only were there multiple sophisticated vegetarian appetizers (fried pickles, mushroom inari wraps), and not only were there multiple vegetarian entrees (tofu instead of pork for their signature sandwhich, fancy mac & cheese, 1-2 other things), but they even had a seasonal special that was vegetarian, felafel with asparagus - amazing. My gluten free dining partner ordered with ease - and of course the drinks were plentiful and delicious.

Very impressed with the balance of local and gourmet. You'll find a variety of beers on tap and too many creative cocktails to choose just one.

    You will love it!

Great addition to Kent's dining experience right on Main St! The Kingsley Burger is amazing, and make sure you get it with one of Truelove Farms (Morris, CT) eggs on top! Beer can chicken is moist and flavorful, the Asian noodle salad is wonderful and the meatloaf made with local beef is tops in the comfort food dept!! It's our 'go to' spot on  weeknights where we love to sit at the bar, meet new and old friends and have one of their many delectable tap beers with our dinner! Service is friendly and prompt, overall a fabulous new restaurant!

Went here for date night.  They don't take reservations for parties less than 5, so we walked in at 7:45 p.m. And the place was packed.  We were greeted by two lovely smiling ladies...always nice to get a warm welcome!  We asked to sit outside, where there were open tables and were seated promptly.  Our server took our drink order and had our drinks to us swiftly...off to a fine start.  We had the Asian pork belly buns, which were fatty and delectable.  Might want to serve them on a smaller plate, with three buns on a large platter, they looked a bit lonely.

I had the bistro steak sans blue cheese and fries with collards and carrots on the side.  I ordered it medium rare, it was more on the rare side, but tasty and good quality meat.  LOVED the sauce, wouldn't have minded a tidge more.  The fries were tasty, crisp and salty.  The greens and carrots were very fresh and simple...delicious accompaniment.  Husband had the meatloaf, which he devoured and pronounced delicious.  he had sweet potatoes and the same side greens, all of which he enjoyed.  The had a nice selection of wines and beers, all interesting. I had sparking white to start and a Pinot noir with dinner, both perfect.  Though I have to say for $10 - $11 glasses, it seemed a bit of a stingy pour...may have seemed that way because of the large glasses, or perhaps because I enjoyed it so much...

We passed on dessert, we were full and nothing jumped out at us from the offerings.  service throughout the evening was attentive, but not intrusive...a perfect balance.  it was chilly on the porch, could have used a heat lamp, but just being outside was wonderful.

A terrific evening, lovely food, drink and service, reasonably priced, IMHO.  Oh yes, we will be here again for date night.

Kingsley is good for burgers and they have some very good appetizers. I had the Asian sandwich which was mostly kimchee and 3 small  pieces of pork belly.

I would suggest they offer some decent house wines- my glass cost as much as the sandwich!!
I hope they do well- it is a good addition to Kent.Open for lunch all week would be great too.

PS Roses Lime Juice is not fresh lime juice! It is in a bottle.

Pros- good service on a very busy Friday night, pubby atmosphere, ok food, great variety of beer, wine list fair, Kent DOES need a place to sit at a bar for a drink or two.
Cons-bar does not have absolut vodka nor do they use real lime juice (Rose's lime juice is a must for a gimlet!), wine is served in a tumbler type glass rather than a stemmed  glass ( as a wine drinker, I find this offensive!), they do not have a website so you cannot view menu beforehand, menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, Mac and cheese, meatloaf, there was  a sea bass special (really? How many takers for this fish?), monkfish tacos but they did not have the tacos that night (really? I G A is up the road). Other than a beer canned chicken( a stretch!) there are no healthy alternatives on the menu. How hard would it be to offer a turkey or salmon burger? Lastly, because there is only a thin, low divider between the bar and the dining area, the noise level is uncomfortably high. It felt similar to eating in my high school cafeteria. If you don't mind eating basic burgers and fries along with noise level of a school lunch room, this place is fine. For us, we won't be back.

Promising new restaurant with jolly vibe and locally sourced menu.  Lovely Main Street setting, owners with longtime Kent roots, friendly and informed service, very reasonable pricing.
