Kirkland Family Restaurant

Great little greasy spoon.

This place was not what you would expect!

You wouldn't think that a restaurant in Kirkland would have a restaurant that had people lined up for their Friday night fish frys, but to my amusement, there was a really long line.

I had the fried walleye dinner which came with a choice of soup or salad, two large strips of fried walleye, baked potato, and a your choice of ice cream for dessert. All for the price of $7.95! The walleye was juicy and hot. The batter was light and crunchy. My mother in law had the cod and it was plentiful and delish as well.

I would go back to try their turkey dinner that I saw another customer order.

After going on a search with my two buddies in tow for the best fish fry in Dekalb County we all agree that Kirkland Family Restaurant is it.

The place was jam packed when we went and we were happy to sit at the large banquet table in the back room with 2 other families.

Now, I am not a fish guy, so I laughably always get the shrimp dinner at a fish fry much to my friends amusement. There 21 shrimp basket was prefect - not that you could really mess that up much.

I will be going back and this time I hope to try something else on the menu to see if their regular fare is as good as their fish fry - you definitely cannot go wrong for the price!
