  Off the beaten path?  absolutely.  You have to take the Slaton Business route through town just to find it -- but it's worth finding.
  
  Klemke's is actually a meat processing/smokehouse family business in Slaton (with some of the best jerky I've ever tasted....)  But they've also got this little BBQ shack on the main drag that sells what may be the best BBQ brisket I've ever eaten that I didn't make myself.  Everything else is good -- the sausages (their own recipe) are great, and so are the ribs -- but it's the beef that will send you back for more.
  
  Even the side dishes are excellent.
  
  Don't be put off by the lean-to they've turned into a drive-up cafe.  Just take the meat, say thank-you, and drive off to Nirvana.

  Great barbecue! Try the jalapeño sausage wrap. They also have a fantastic lunch special  (which is very reasonable) and also have various sausage, bbq, ribs to go. Great local food - kinda looks like a hole in the wall, but you will be glad you tried it!

  Three because it was an adequate decent sandwich and we were hungry.I ordered a plain dry sliced beef sandwich with no sides and no sauce. Meat was tender, not  smoky tasting, a good thing. Pleasant staff. Good price.  No complaints.
