I like to go with friends on  occasion to "Taco Night Tuesday." Olay!  That's "Two tacos, chicken or beef and an 8 ounce domestic beer for 5 pesos (bucks)."  What a deal huh?  Well, as one would come to expect these days, the tacos are finger food- sized, TINY! Filled with flakes of meat and PLENTY OF LETTUCE! Ah yes, we Americans love to eat LETTUCE. Lettuce is so damn good sandwiched between corn ain't it? The tacos seem to get smaller by the week. They should just sell lettuce tacos and charge extra for meat, but you know how life is in America these days... Dismal. The chips and salsa are good, actually better than the tacos! You do get a nice mug of beer to wash away the memory. Place has a nice laid back vibe. Bring a friend, not a good place to make new ones. Patrons of this place seem extremely local.

Under new management again. Liz has been very friendly and if I could, I would give her 5-Stars.
The reason for my update is because of my experience there last night. Although they deny it, the other bartenders demanded my friend for a tip. Now, whether he's wrong or right for not leaving one, being a bartender myself, you just never ask for one. It's bad customer service.
Well I talked about the situation on Facebook and being that I'm a friend of that establishment (which btw, they're violating FB's TOS by acting as a person representing an establishment) and one of the bartenders saw my post. She then e-mailed me an unprofessional response.
I'm not too nit picky on customer service, I'd like to think that I'm pretty chill, but I do have my peeves. That was just two "no-no's" which inclined me to update my Yelp review.
Note that I WILL be a continued customer because I've had way too many fond memories...and simply because I don't have many options out here in the desert. I live on hope...and I hope that they get their act together soon. I know how it is to find a good quality core-staff so good luck to you, Liz, I wish the best, and I will see you again soon!
Blech. Kokos came under new ownership last year. The guys who own the Mexican shop next door  took it over. . . . and tried to turn it into a hip club . . . complete with bouncer . . .  or he tried to anyway. In my opinion the place is an epic fail. I have held off re-reviewing the place for the last 8 months, but I can hold it no longer.
They furnished the outdoor space, locked the back gate (which has since been reopened), threw out the sofas, started charging for chips at the bar (regardless if you were drinking or not), and basically nickel and dimed everyone to death. Oh did I mention the addition of a completely unnecessary strobe light/laser machine? Really? No. Just no.
It has totally lost that laid back vibe it once had. I saw 8 people get run out of the bar on a slow night because of all the Spanish karaoke being sung.
The only reason we even went in on the night 8 people got run out was we were on a pub drive ( I was DD so do not freak out people) . . . and by virtue of literally being the bar down the street from the house was the stop.
Never. Again.
Sorry Kokos you have totally lost my business.
