Willie Boys Saloon & Smoked BBQ

Pulled pork sandwich was awesome! And they had PBR in draft which made the hubby happy.

Late Monday, on our way to the motel, we drove by and saw the giant horse.  He leans over and says to me "Oh we are totally coming back to this place later."

So we did.

To the right, a bar, bar tables, a pool/arcade area.  
To the left, another bar, a restauranty area and decor that looks like pigmy saloon girls were due to come out over head at any moment.  
Dead ahead, a dance floor with a mechanical bull and inflatable ring.

The staff were sweet, got us seated and let us know it was taco Tuesday with $3 margaritas.  I'm an LA adopted Mexican so I'm not ordering tacos in Morongo Valley, so I opted for the rib eye and dude got the pulled pork.  We both ordered a couple of
margaritas - which were STRONG - and waited for our grub.

The food was flavorful when it arrived, but both dishes were lukewarm.  He asked to get his plate nuked, I opted to just eat fast as I hate microwaved steak.  It was fine, but I was a bit disappointed.  "Maybe in the desert, people like their food a little cold so it's more refreshing?" No babe, I don't think so. lol

After we ate, we shot some pool and hung out. We were full and ready to roll.  It wasn't bad, just wish it was a hot plate of food.

Convinced by the mostly good Yelp reviews we tried Willie Boy's for lunch mid-week in the off-season and had the place to ourselves. Deania the friendly waitress took good care of us and made sure the food was well done and ready quickly. During our short wait we had a good look at the bar--definitely a movie-western theme complete with mechanical bull for riding while drunk. My Willie Boy special sandwich with beef brisket tasted good but the cole slaw was piled inside rather than outside, which made the bread soggy. My partner's BBQ pork appetizer was quite good--usually she's not a fan of spicy sauces but was pleased with this one.
