This is the third time my husband, 16 year old son and myself have been here.  Everyone in my family loves this place..including the very picky husband.  Appetizers very tasty and are difficult to choose from because the selection is so mouthwatering. our usual seems to be the nachos with olives, cheese, red onions, beans it  is crazy delicious.  Husband had glazed salmon over lentils, which was very tender with a flavor that made you not want to stop eating it, son had Oquaga Sirlion ..which was butter soft...served with risotto to die for.
I had the taco salad with the blackened shrimp...you could have chosen any number of delectable proteins.the taco salad came with jalepenos, olives and a number of other ingredients that presented themselves as incredibly delicious medley in your mouth. Â They have the Mexican-taco salad....perfected!
Desserts:  strawberry shortcake, Creme Brûlée....I mean the selections on this menu from appetizers to entrees and to desserts,  is not to be believed for this small little town in upstate New York.  This restaurant is quite an expected surprise...not to mention the cool Monday evening live music of  local guys playing guitar and singing.  For those old enough....it is very reminiscent of the wine and cheese places with cool guitar folk music softly playing.
Extremely enjoyable, relaxing, music not loud or over bearing at all....the best part of course, is the absolutely incredible food. Â These chefs absolutely know their food, how to cook it, create it, season it, and present it. Â Bravo...chefs!
As New Yorkers who get their pick of restaurants.....we were very impressed with Koo Koose Grille.
We have been regulars at Koo Koose Grille for over a year now.  At least through the spring and summer we eat there once, sometimes twice, ok somethimes three times  a week either in or taking out.  And that in itself is cool.  During the weekend I don't get off the water until almost 9:00 and its great that you can order 'real meals' as take out in a small town.
To get five stars it is not just about the food, or even the decor. Â It's about the people and the spirit of the place. Â Steve and his attentive, friendly crew are as much the reason we frequent the K K Grille as the food. Â You can tell Steve is an experienced restauranteur. Â He has a nice mix of comfort food favorites, like unbelievable risoto, and leverages seasonal vegetables into his dishes.
As the other reviewer mentioned, there are some Mexican dishes that are fabulous; better than I have had at 'high end' Mexican restaurants. Â One of my favorites is the enhalida. Â This can be had with beef, chicken, of vegetarian. This week there was ratatoulie on the menu so that was offered as an option- awesome. Â The greens and beans is a new addition and has quickly become a favorite too. Â My wife would suggest the Oquaga steak. Â Although the steak itself is perfect, she really orders it for the mushroom risotto. Lunch is as good as dinner. Â This includes a nice varied selection of entree salads, hearty sandwiches, and burgers, and there is always a special something on the menu too.
The decor gives homage to Deposit and Catskills history.  Steve has collected several  antiques and collectibles that give an authenticl local flavor.  If you are into it, you will find some very interesting pieces amongst the collection.
If you are in town for fly fishing, a Catskills weekend, or just passing by Deposit going from NYC to upstate- Koo Koose would be our number one suggestion for dinner every time.
Awesome restaurant in a rough, little town (it's a compliment!) on the West Branch. Good beer and wine selection, really cool eclectic menu, and a great display of Deposit memorabilia on the walls. The burger is def one of the best I've ever had. I've eaten here several times and it's always great.
